I really liked this place, the bartender was amazing! I told him the kind of beer I like to drink, but that I wanted to try something new… the beer he picked for me was perfect! The outside is a good, chill area and it was exactly what we were looking for after a long day at the office.

A few years ago I would give Hans more stars, but the large beer selection has been halved, making it still a decent place to hang out, especially in a good weather. They’ve made some upgrades to the beer garden, though many of the tables are uneven, which makes for some seating challenges. A low-key, unpretentious option for drinking beer.

Love this place. Laid back, quirky, low key with friendly staff. A great selection of craft pints to try and a nice big beer garden in the back to boot… and no more than 500 feet from my front door

I’ve been coming to Hans’ Bier Haus off and on for the past four years and it was probably the first place that introduced me to good, craft beer, so it will always have a soft spot in my beer soaked heart. Did I say heart? I meant beer soaked liver. Hans’ has an awesome backyard with lots of tables and of course the boccie ball court. Anytime you drink outback it reminds me of a college house party or a backyard cook-out. It really separates Hans’ from all of the other bars in the city. Best patio/backyard in Houston, hands down. So the beer selection is pretty good, or at least it was in the past. The last two times I’ve been to Hans’ they had less than half of their taps in use. Previous to that, the whole wall was full of taps. The taps they do have are great though. They really have a good variety of beers. Also the jukebox has Rafi on it which is awesome. Only bar I’ve ever been to that had«Banana Phone» on repeat.

Great Beer Garden. I really liked all of the outdoor seating and lots of fun games to play. Also super friendly patrons, some offered us some tacos because they got too many. Bathrooms could use an upgrade.

Friday night bartender was fantastic… and plays a mean jukebox mix. A place so cool that the people that work there, drink there. And if you’re there at the right time, you can get a free beer from a charming local. The perfect choice for this out of town craft beer enthusiast. Oh, and of course, the outdoor patio is charming… even though it took me 2 hrs to make my way out there.

Great place for a beer after work! Dog friendly, not overpriced and not yet ruined by the people who live in the area.

Fave beer hang in rice village. Cool place, good atmosphere, friendly bartender, and great patio to chill with friends. Yeah it is pretty empty at times, a little dead as others might call it, but I like it being pretty low key. Several other regulars at the bar I’ve chatted with were very pleasant and cool to talk to. It’s the quality of the people that matter, not quantity.

This place does not have food. Only beer, which is good if that’s what you are looking for, but if you walk two miles to get here and discover that you kind of get disappointed! Guess o should have double checked Unilocal first! Oh well! They have bocce ball in the back, but from my couple of beers I had there that seems like the only thing setting them apart.

Great selection of beers on draft, including many Texas and local Houston beers! Also, this bar is totally chill! It’s kind of hidden and under the radar, so it’s not very crowded! It also has bocce ball and cornhole and a couple of other game options!

Good selection of beers. You’ll for sure miss it if you’re not looking for it! Last few times we have been here it’s been very dead. Including weekend nights. People who work there are very nice and knowledgeable about beer. Wouldn’t mind seeing more people out.

Disclaimer, this is a BEERONLY establishment! Hans’ has been my go-to dive beer bar hangout for years because it is a true hidden gem located smack dab right in the middle of the city! This is one of the first places I usually bring my Beer Lovin’ out-of-towner friends because of the friendly bartenders, very good draft beer selection and of course some bottled beers as well. What you wouldn’t expect is a fairly large, partially shaded patio complete with a full length bocce ball court and a grill so you can cook up any goodness you fancy!(all the bartenders ask is that you bring enough to serve them too ;) Oh, they also host open mic nights and karaōke if you are into that but come early, the past couple of times I went, it got SUPERPACKED!!! My only complaint is that I miss all the different beer tap handles that they use to have. They got rid of them some time ago and replaced them with the more«sleek uniform chrome» taps that remind me of Mongoose vs. Cobra: /So now, instead of being able to just look up and identify which beer you crave, they have printed up multiple page beer menus outlining their recent selections. Not sure why the decision to switch but I fill it def took away some of the charm we all liked. As much as I love introducing new friends to Hans’, I deep down hope this place doesn’t become TOO well known because that would change the low key chill ambiance that I dig about this place.

Very laid back bar. Came here on a Friday night and there weren’t a lot of people, mostly small groups of friends/couples. Very large beer selection and all reasonably priced $ 4 – 7. They have bochi ball outside! Fun, chill night for sure. Don’t come here if you’re tryna TURNUPP or anything. Bartender was sooo nice! Southern comfort :) Dogs running around too hehe

I came here by accident to be honest. The restaurant I was looking for I guess is actually a food truck that frequents here. Note: they don’t serve food. Dart board: check Cornhole: check Bocce: check 40 different beers: check Juke box: check Basically a hole in the wall spot. Only one dart board so grab it before anyone else does. Bring some friends and grab some beers.

I took a friend who is not a beer connoisseur, so I was happy to learn that they had $ 2 Lone Star bottles. Whether you are a beer snob or looking for a cheap brew you should be happy. The range of offerings goes all the way from Lone Star to some barley porter with 10% alcohol. The bar tender gave helpful recommendations. They had the World Cup match on without a crowd in front of the television. The juke box did interject at times, but not enough to prevent hearing the game.

A favorite spot of mine that my friends and I hit up when we go downtown. The atmosphere is very laid-back and friendly~ the patrons all have smiles on their faces. Dress appropriately to sit outside on the patio. Lots of tables, good music playing at a nice level of volume, vintage beer signs for décor, and bocci ball! One visit the tap ran out on my choice beer but, thanks to their large selection, I was able to find another one I enjoyed all the same. I’ve seen a few different faces behind the bar. Each one was friendly and quick to dish out drinks. Good service and a good time.
