Houston Dynamo

I have been a season ticket holder since 2007 or 2008. The last few years have been great due to the awesome season ticket holder representative I was assigned (let’s call him Bob, names changed for confidentiality reasons). Unfortunately, he left as of last year and was replaced by a different representative (let’s call him John).
Bob knew I had problems sometimes receiving the Dynamo emails. Even after checking my spam folder, they somehow never arrived. It took us a year to figure out the problem, but in the meantime, he’d call and check on me to verbally give updates. He knew I traveled a lot, and I appreciated it. The Dynamo run the Houston Dash as well (National Women’s Soccer League — USA’s only professional women’s soccer league). Bob asked me about a month before their inaugural season if I’d consider buying season tickets for $ 75 since this was an option the Dash were considering. I said that I wasn’t sure due to time commitment, but I’d think about it. The week of the Dash inaugural opener, Bob called to inquire if I by chance wanted season tickets at $ 75 for the Dash. He admitted he remembered I was on the fence, but just wanted to ask. I agreed just because he was so nice about it. Bob bent over backwards, it seemed, to ensure his season ticket holders were aware of the policies and specials. Words can’t describe how much I appreciated this.
Fast forward to John. I never hear from John, other than the mail merged email I receive from time to time. It’s very obvious John doesn’t initiate contact with his season ticket holders (and I’ve confirmed with others). In contrast, Bob would start his emails, «I hope your travels are going well!» When I asked John about renewing for the Dash at $ 75, he said that it was just a special at the time and season tickets are $ 110. Given I can’t make half of the games, I decided not to buy this year. There’s been no follow-​up from John, so I guess it’s not important that I buy Dash season tickets. That’s so different than Bob! I’ve asked to switch representatives, but was denied.
In addition, I don’t like how the Dynamo treated the supporters. I speak solely from my perspective on my own and on behalf of no one else or single group. Season ticket holders last year were asked to sign a three-​year agreement to lock in a price for season tickets for the next three years. After we signed the agreement (thinking we’d be under the canopy), the Dynamo strongly suggested that we move to the north end. Although we were not forced to move per se this year, we were told that the move was eventually going to happen. The Dynamo stated the north end would allow us to grow since seating under the canopy is limited.
The fact is, the Dynamo wanted to move us so they could sell the seats under the canopy for a higher price. They put us in the sunny (no coverage) section right under the jumbo screen because those seats were hardly ever bought. I don’t like it when people don’t tell it how it really is. Don’t give me this guise of «your group can grow» when really, «We can’t sell those seats and know you’ll buy them anyway if we put you there.» We’re RIGHT under the speakers, so you can’t hear us whenever there’s music or announcements. We’re in the upper level, which is unprecedented for MLS supporters groups. I feel like we are no longer with the players on the field.
Moreover, we were given a couple of promises prior to moving, and they have not been implemented. We were promised access to the handicapped seats for our members in front of the Budweiser Deck, but were denied by security. John told us at the first game this season that people have to pay an extra $ 600/​seat if they want to sit in those seats, contrary to what was promised. All beer in the Budweiser Deck was supposed to be $ 5, but this changed as of this last home game. Only Bud Light now is $ 5, and all other beers are $ 10+.
Security for our section now changes during the match, which I don’t like. If something happens during the second half, and there’s a different security guard vs the first half, the second half security guard won’t know who’s supposed to be where within the section. When we were under the canopy, we had the same security guards the entire match.
If I didn’t like soccer, I would not be a Dynamo season ticket holder. Maybe it’s why I’m not a Dash season ticket holder — I have no motivation to give more money. Vancouver Whitecaps season ticket holders earn points for buying merchandise and concessions; the points can be redeemed for more merchandise and concessions. That sounds like a good business move to me. Might as well keep generating money!

I love the Houston Dash. I do. I was heartbroken when I found out we lost my favorite player– Klingenberg. The girls, except for about two players– one a minor player, the other a big star– are generally sweet and adorable, even with their littlest fans. Despite one player’s snooty behavior, that wasn’t enough to knock it down to 4 or 3 stars.
The reason it’s 3 stars is because the promotions and marketing camp are not giving the team their best and they need to be called out for it. Sometimes they will have the most interesting ideas, like free beer to the first, say, 500. They barely advertise it. Part of it is because it’s the same people who also focus on the Dynamo. I get that the Dynamo are the money maker, but they don’t have the right to be confused why attendance is so low, when you barely put the effort in to increase it. Saying you want something is one thing. Doing it is another.
Did you know recently there was a US National’s Women game here? Barely anyone knew, but had it been a Men’s game, the Dynamo would have advertised it like crazy. Think how interesting it would have been if they capitalized on that game to bring in more Dash fans! I don’t want to lose this team. Those girls are way too nice, work way too hard, don’t even freaking flop, to get screwed over because the people responsible for getting the word out aren’t doing what they need too.
So let me do their job for them. Go to a game. It’s fun. It’s intimate. The girls are nice, and even the two eh girls aren’t awful– just eh. I’ve met one girl outside of Dash events and she was a genuine kind person, who so desperately wanted to bring positive attention to the team. She shouldn’t be begging people to come. Shame on you Dash marketing/​behind the scenes people.
Dash players are still awesome. I just wish everyone that worked for them was awesome too.

Well. I haven’t watched soccer in years. I used to live in a town that had a professional indoor soccer team and that was fun, but I had never been to a professional outdoor game. I thought it might be boring. Damn, was I ever wrong!
First off, the fans are crazy in love with this team. I mean, they start tailgating in the parking lot (we parked in Lot C for $ 25)…and I mean alcohol, food, huge tents, music… everyone was partying. I felt a little out of place with no food, and nothing orange, and was very hungry. I really wished I knew some of these people so I could hang out and party with them!
Plus, after getting in and seeing the prices, I wish I had been able to eat outside! It was really cool to see all the things they do, like the chants, and yelling the player’s last name during introductions, and the band… oh my gosh the band! Do these people never get tired? They beat on those drums and played the whole time. That right there will get you pumped up! But when they score a goal and everyone throws streamers, that will get you excited too! Dang, it’s hard not to be excited for this team!
Plus, the game is fun to watch; these guys are good and are really fun to watch play. You don’t have to know all the nuances and ins and out of the game to enjoy, so that’s a plus. It’s an easy game to follow for a beginner, but I’m sure knowing the rules helps make the game more enjoyable, too.
I’m not a fan of the stadium but I really am a fan of this team! I didn’t know soccer could be so much fun, but even if you weren’t a fan before, you will be after going to the game!

Solid women’s soccer team featuring some of the highest level players in the world. You get to see world cup stars like Carli Lloyd pretty much every time there’s a game.
The only drawback is the open roof field, resulting in very hot temperatures in July and August. They’d do well to have some fans or something installed for days that don’t have a lot of wind.

Bargain prices to see the best women soccer athlete in the world. Our Houston Dash have 3 US Women’s National Team players and frequently hosts the likes of Alex Morgan & Hope Solo.
Whether you come to see your first game or join as a season ticket holder, it’s a great way to support the girls all over Houston learning the game.
The Dash is a great team of women who work hard to give back to the community, work with the youth, and always come around to say thanks in person after every game.
A fledgling franchise, with a need for greater support, I really encourage any sports fan to attend to state that women are as great as men (if not better in this arena), and promote the future of women’s sports.
Tickets run as low as $ 5 – 7 on special days and usually $ 10 – 20 otherwise. It’s a bargain for the family!

Coming from Rio, used to the large Maracana, this is a cool and cozy stadium. Easy to come and go despite of traffic, nice venue, affordable tickets, brand new facilities.

I’ve been to a few games and always had fun each time. The stadium is new and clean. Seats could be a little more comfortable but that’s not much of a problem.
Don’t fret if you’re buying online and want specific seats, I feel like all of the seats offer a pretty good view of the field.
I’ve had the opportunity to go to the tents for drinks and had a great time!

For $ 11 I got to sit so close that I almost caught a soccer ball! Yes, I have seen better soccer. .but this is their first year… I have also seen worse! These ladies are tough… no flopping around and getting carried off the field here… their goalie got cleated in the face and got up. It’s a good place for girls to see that women can play professional sports. .and definitely something you could take a family to.

Dale Dynamo! I may be biased as a season ticket holder, but the Dynamo put on the best show in the city. A perennial threat for the championship, the Dynamo are Houston’s greatest sports asset right now. Not to mention that BBVA Compass Stadium is a great place to watch a game, the worst seat in the house is still fantastic. The stadium food is good and the beers are big. Do yourself a favor and check out a game, you may find yourself a season ticket holder like me by the end of regulation.

Lol. $ 70 dollars for family of 4 for essentially a college soccer game. Hello houston dash. Try $ 10 a ticket. Whateves. I will never be back for 17 a ticket
Just read the review below me. Totally someone who works for the Dash. $ 17 a ticket and nobody is here. Nobody. High school JV football gets more people.

I’m a soccer fan — not a die hard soccer fan, but just enough of one to go to a game when it is in Houston.
Whether the Dynamo do well or are done into the ground by an opposing team, it’s a great experience. The food is like all stadium food, but I hear the hot dogs are good — never had one.
The crowd is fun. All kinds of people from all walks of life show up to a Dynamo game — kids, grandparents, and even fancy folk!
I also love how the beer guy going up and down the sections also has water for those days when it’s crazy warm and everyone is sweaty and stink.
Now, if only they could spray some deodorizer…

Inaugural Dash game! If you’re a fan of soccer, women, or sports, this is a must do. The Dash is Houston’s newest sports franchise and the Dynamo’s sister club. Not only does the club have some amazing players in the lineup, it is one of the few chances the city has to members of the US Women’s national team when they come to town. It’s also a great place for people watching (we saw Brian Cushing (whose sister in law, Kealia Ohai, is a forward on the team), JJ Watt, Mayor Parker, Brad Davis, Brian Ching).
Ok so specifics. For all the games, only the lower bowl is open. So get your tickets early! Tickets start around $ 16/​seat, so it’s affordable to take the whole family. We got partial season tickets near the tunnel (south side) so we could people watch and reminisce about when we had similar seats at Robertson. Even though it’s only 7,000 seats, it’s LOUD. It make the atmosphere awesome during corner kicks and GOALS.
Get near the stadium early, and find side street parking for cheap or the Astro’s parking lot if there are no events going on. Grab a few beers or dinner along St. Emmanuel. I’m hoping the Dash can make Orange Avenue happen soon (it’s a great place for kids). About 30 – 45 minutes before kickoff, you’ll want to head inside and get to your seats because you can see the players warming up. It’s really fun to see your favorite players or scout a couple players to watch out for. Or there’s the team shop. Or the Mazda area for posters. Or the concession stand (lines move fast) Or the restrooms (plenty of those). Diesel (the mascot) come around and tries to say hi to all the kids. If you line up near the tunnel, you can try to catch a picture of autograph.
After the games, the ladies stick around for autographs on the sidelines (don’t know if that was a one time deal) or autograph ally (the southeast corner of the stadium) is a sure bet to get autographs.
I don’t know any better way to support women’s’ sports than to go to a Dash game. I promise one game and you’ll be hooked.

The stadium is sooooo nice. I came here to help out because a friend ask me if i wanted to work. I thought i was going to do something cool with $$$, oh i did something with money alright! Tell me why i was selling nachos. I’m not trying to do that for a living! but it was a very interesting experience. Before i went to the Dynamo stadium, I was actually excited to work not knowing what i was going to do because i was trying to see one of my best friend Anna dance (she’s a dynamo cheerleader) but then i was not even allowed to leave my area! Next time i come back to that Stadium, either i’m going to make bank $$$$$$$ there or i will be watching a game.

This stadium is really nice. We found parking on the street and I really like the surrounding neighborhood. We «tailgated» at the Budweiser beer garden with our Unilocal-​ies before the game and had another beer at Lucky’s. The layout is good. This is a great change from baseball or football. I can’t wait to go to a Rugby game here.

Even though I don’t live in Houston anymore, I still bleed orange (not even burnt orange!)!
I remember when there was so much dramaz in the news about Houston investing in a MLS team — obviously they made the right decision!
The team now has a new home and a fabulous team to go with it.
I was finally able to make it to a new stadium game (thanks Unilocal game night!) and our group had an awesome time. It was POURING but we stuck it out through the bitter end for 2 goals in the last 25 minutes of the game! Fair weather fans be damned.
I love the enthusiasm at the Dynamo games. I love the loud band playing and the crowds cheering. I do think throwing paper on the field is a bit unkempt but not a huge deal.

Houston Dynamo Rocks!

Ever since the last world cup I started getting interested in soccer, or should I say FUTBOL.
Well, I’ve always wanted to check out a dynamo game, especially with their dirt cheap prices before they move off to their shiny new stadium in the near future. Well I was planning on attending the season opener of the roller derby but renovations were behind and they had to cancel a few days before their scheduled bout so I looked to see what else was happening on this even and sure enough the dynamo was also scheduled for their opening night. They had a great package deal for 4 on their website, the McDonald’s game pack. I only need 2 tickets but it was actually cheaper to get this 4 pack. The 4 pack included pretty decent seats, 4 tshirts, and 4 meal vouchers. It’s a deal that can’t be beat.
As far as the entertainment, it’s fun. The crowd really gets into it. However, being there live showed me that I may like the occasional soccer match I am no real FUTBOL fan. Well not that kind of FOOTBALL. But as long as they are on «lockout» I better start adapting.

Professional sports is big in Houston. With a team in every major sporting league the Houston Dynamo offer sports entertainment at a great price across the board. Why? The Dynamo offer engaging yet entertaining activities before and during games for everyone to enjoy!
My experiences always start with the pregame tailgating. FOR THIS REASON I Unilocal THIS! Budweiser/​Silver Eagle sponsors the event along with a variety of food vendors (which rotates every game). Accompanying the pregame experience are a number of radio stations and brand management companies promoting their produces and services (usually with games for kinds and what not).
Beer and food is pretty free flowing with in the official tailgate. It is very much worth the package price if you so choose to pay it. There is a pregame package you can get with your tickets.
This past home opener featured a cook out style competition between a few rodeo cook off winners:
— Drillers & Grillers
— The BBQ Godfathers
— Texian Cookers (aka Texans Cookers)
— Jokers &Cookers
— Pit-​Makers
*My favorite item came from the BBQ Godfathers… Fajitas with roasted green peppers, pineapple salsa and top shelf guacamole.*
They all had custom barbecue pits made with really awesome murals of symbols associated with their names. Some of them had built in flat screen televisions that was broadcasting the NCAA tournament (Huge Plus).
Dynamo matches themselves are pretty fast paced and enjoyable. Do not try and get food once you are in the stadium. The line will eat up a third of the match! With the movement of European and Latin talent moving into the US market this will change. Obviously not on a premiership or champions league level BUT the MLS is coming up!
