This is a great course and club house. I didn’t always believe that. Like many golf snobs, I looked down on it because it was a municipal. But having played other NW Houston courses in the last 3 years(i.e. — Longwood, Black Horse, Hou National, Cy Lakes, etc) this course surpasses all of them due to the combination of its… 1) Challenges — 12 holes have water and/or OB limits. Doglegs on some holes(w trees) and numerous forced carries 2) Grill — Backyard Grill at JM is terrific. Great burgers and breakfast tacos. 3) Pleasant Staff — starter, marshalls, etc, are all cordial 4) Practice facilities — The best range/bunker/putting green combination I have experienced at any NW Houston course. Very large areas on the range and putting green. 5) Greens are always good(save for aeration season) 6) Value — In NW Houston, it’s hard to find a ~$ 50 Saturday morning round My only knocks are that 1) they should stop allowing walkers on Saturday 2) refurbish the restrooms 3) develop an unlimited range program with their Star Membership.

Decent layout. Greens have been improved over past couple of years. Much truer roll on them. Fairways are hard and need work. Bunkers are in decent shape but don’t come into play much. Green fee $ 40 on weekdays which for the course is a little bit too much. Other deals online will give you better pricing. Would never play on weekends given green fee and hackers on course slowing up play dramatically. Backyard grill is major improvement from before. Food tastes very good and has enough diversity to satisfy most golfers tastes. No drink cart on the weekend day I played(Thursday). Would recommend if never played before and then you can make up your mind from there.

Played this course late April 2012. Pros: Course is in pretty good condition considering the poor weather at the time. Fairways and greens were nice. Water comes into play in appropriate areas. Cons: Cost is high relative to what you get, but I used ezlinks or another service to get it for $ 20-ish. Driving range is short, but is well groomed. Overall: I’d play this again, but most likely only when there’s a deal.

Cool little course, not very long, plenty of challenges. The fairways are decent, nice tight lies. Greens are moderately fast with a few holes having some slops. But the damned power lines through the course is just weird and an eye sore. 18th was tough in the wind. 5 of us, 4 found the water which is only 210 ish out! And I popped one pretty good. Love the mixed daiquiri thing in the club house after wards, very friendly staff, professional and courteous which is rare anywhere these days. Why does this course have to have so many power line and towers like the hoover dam?

what a diamond in the rough for NW houston. I have been playing here for over 10 years and it never disappoints. Well, maybe once — — 6−7AM tee time after a night shower and the morning dew. If I didn’t keep it in the fair, it was damn near impossible to locate the ball. green fees are reasonably priced at 45 – 50, but they do have twilight and coupon rates. this is a challenging 71 with plenty of room for you driver and long irons/hybrids. plenty water for a need of game management or if you play over the 100’s, bring at least 10 balls. the play usually doesnt keep you pack in like sardines, but the marshal will kindly keep you in line with the timeliness of you time/hole. Dont worry, you can blame it on the pretty cart girl passing periodically. She usually offers a variety of iced sports drinks, sodas and beer. If not, at the turn you can grab a simple bit in the pro shop. Beer, concessions food: dogs, burgers, pizza, frito pies, etc… this is the one thing i miss about mild houston weather. you cant beat year round play.
