My parents met here in 1939, I have to come and visit it. So glad it is still in business.

Nice and divey, with plenty of games! Darts, foosball and pool just to name a few. This place is no frills though, they hang up your card with your tab. Great place to hang with friends and have domestic, craft, wells and top shelf.

Laid back and cool, Kay’s is exactly what one would expect of a dive bar in West U. Lots of beer on tap, and they pride themselves on serving it colder than other places. For some reason this didn’t do a whole lot for me, but it is a cool thing to use to differentiate yourself as a dive bar. There is a ton of space, but it’s sectioned k to rooms. This is cool if you don’t want to listen to fights over pool table while you’re chatting over bar food with your friends. Would recommend for a chill night. Nothing spectacular, but gets the job done.

Pretty awesome bar. It’s a little beat up, but the bartender was super great and the ambiance was perfect! Will definitely be going again!

Its an okay place I guess… they are all about the beer. «Coldest in town» or so I was told. I was thinking about ordering the special on the chalkboard and was warned against it. Bartenders are fine at pouring what you ask for, but don’t ask them to get creative. I also like knowing the prices of things, but most bars don’t even seem to provide that kind of info. The outdoor patio area was alright, but it can get crowded. Seems to be a bit of a yuppie crowd.

29 taylor swift songs in a row plus 5 sappy country songs interspersed and no relief in sight or sound and I am vowing to never come back to this bar I liked two nights ago. Reprehensible, intolerable gouge-my-eardrums-out muzak. Can’t fucking stand it.

If you’re into classic dive bars this place is pretty awesome… There is a great selection of local beers on draft… I stick the the Karbach sympathy for the Larger on draft… I noticed some people were ordering pitchers of Bud Light and buckets of beer which is not really my thing, but there seems to be something for everybody since there is a full bar… The place has a very eclectic Texas vibe… This place seems to attract locals of all ages… It’s a great place to stop by afterwork for happy hour… Cheers

A great place to come with a group or with a few. The jukebox has awesome good old country music — George Strait– mixed with Tom Petty & the Eagles. Sit at the Texas shaped(& size) table. Great dive bar with a good selection of draft beer & liquor for those who don’t drink beer. Enough grime to feel relaxed, yet not in shambles & falling apart… a good crowd is usually around so you meet interesting people too!

Love this place! A true dive bar, good beer selection, foosball table, kangaroo, pool tables, dart boards. Just a good time place with no thrills.

Pretty cool place, gf and I went there together really laid back and never too packed during the week. Mixed crowd from professionals to young adults/older professionals. Drinks relatively priced and and they also have darts. Becoming a frequent at this venue! Recommend to anyone who wants to relax and drink.

My absolute favorite bar in the city. A dive bar lover’s paradise. Anywhere that will serve me an ice cold Lone Star in a koozie that looks straight out of the 80s is my kind of spot. Jukebox is always going with some excellent Texas country or 80s/90s anthems.

One of my favorite bars in Houston. Continues to serve crowds of all ages. I would recommend getting some of their best kept secret shots– a «Dusty Boner»(no, really!) and«Mario’s Special»… they also invested in a for hole table recently– HORRAY! Love Kay’s… Always have, always will!

I love Kays during the week because it’s never overly crowded. I like to meet after work for a hang out pitcher to share and have, on more than one occasion, ended up staying the whole night on the patio, or the back patio on the weekends is less crowded. Also, they have darts, pool and arcade games which are great for group fun. It’s a super chill environment and I feel like everyone can find something to like about it.

Kay’s Lounge is a perfectly acceptable neighborhood dive bar to visit with friends for a couple of beers. There are many tv’s playing different games or sporting matches, although I wouldn’t call this place a sports bar. The beers are cheap, and if you want a night where you can come sit in a booth with your friends and catch up with over beers, come on over to Kay’s lounge! The only reason why I only give this place 3 stars is that it’s not much different from most of the other dive bars around this area(West Alabama Ice House etc.) There’s not really much that sets it apart. It’s always a good time, but I think that’s more because I’m there with my friends rather than because of the crowd. If I’m going to give a bar 4 or 5 stars, it’ll be because everyone mingles a little more. Maybe I’ve only come in on off-nights, but people usually stick to their booths here.

Love Kay’s. Great atmosphere, great service, great prices! Goto bar when you just want to hang out and have fun. Even when it’s super packed, there is hardly a wait for your drinks. The more you drink, the better the pizza tastes :)

Despite excessive warnings from my friends about how dirty this dive bar is, we decided to stop by after the rodeo cook-off on Saturday. You’d think these guys would know me better than to assume I’d be bothered by a little bit of grime… I felt right at home. :) The night was characterized by sweaty cowboys linking arms and singing Texas songs while swaying back and forth. The male to female ratio was through the roof. In fact, I may have been the only girl there. The louder and more obnoxious we got, the more we fit right in. We played darts and I almost killed a few people with my less-than-perfect aim, but no one seemed to mind. Oh, and they let us hang out well past closing time. Perfect!

My first experience with Kay’s was with my friends from New Jersey who were visiting me and wanting to experience all things Texas. We were eating at Goode Company and wanted to find a nearby spot to have one beer before going to meet up with a friend later on. Many pitchers of Lone Star later while sitting around the Texas table we were having the time of our lives trying to see who could blow the highest number on the breathalyzer on the wall. That’s the purpose, right? We even found some strangers to play with us. I thought my first impression of Kay’s might have been clouded by the pitchers and the wonderful feeling of being reunited with friends, so I waited until I went back to review. I’m not sure if I just didn’t remember or if it’s new, but there’s a pool table and darts in the back two rooms. There’s live music on Wednesdays, but it’s not overpowering so you can still have a conversation. Kay’s is a dive. Kay’s is a little dirty. Kay’s is fun. And you know what they say… Every kiss begins with Kay.

This is a true Houston dive bar. The beer is cold, drinks are strong, and the crowd is always quite diverse. If you go, you have to sit at the Texas shaped table. Service is good and always have a fun time. Definitely a must visit if you want a nice and chill night. If you decide it is not your speed, need to kick it up a notch later, or need some artisan cocktails, Under the Volcano is just across the street.
