I’m going to try to bulk up the bridal salon reviews in Houston because I think not too many Unilocalers are at the point where they are getting married. I was disappointed to find only 1 review(or none) for most of the bridal salons I went to, so I’ll try my best to review them As with all bridal salons, it’s best to make an appointment beforehand. FYI: Like L M. mentioned, Louise Blum is going out of business and is going to become Alfred Angelo in late August/September. So all their dresses were at least 30−50% off. This is probably the only store in Houston that has all the designer brands that Katrina B. mentioned.(I guess not for much longer because apparently they don’t have much of a market here.) The dresses are beautiful(and some are over-the-top) as you can expect from designers, but the service is down-right meh. I was hoping that my experience would be different, after reading the reviews, but it wasn’t. My bridal consultant was disinterested and really didn’t help much with giving some feedback. We had to carry a lot of the dresses up ourselves. I don’t care if the Vera Wang I want is 50% off; I’d rather not deal with your shoddy service. Maybe there’s a reason it’s going out of business.

It really is a shame to house such beautiful dresses alongside some of Houston’s worst sales ladies. Even though I had booked an appointment, my sales girl disappeared and pretty much ignored me. She tried to talk me into certain dresses even after I told her they weren’t my style. She had the manager try to sell me too. Then they both ignored me. I’d rather wear nothing than deal with their ‘service’.

My first bridal gown shopping experience was at Louise Blum, which is located on Post Oak close to the Galleria. Louise Blum carries almost all of the top wedding designers: Vera Wang, Monique Lhullier, Reem Acra, Amsale(or they did when I went in Jan 2007) and it was probably the nicest bridal boutique that I went visited. I really wanted a Lhullier dress, so I went during one of the Lhullier trunk shows, which you absolutely have to make an appointment for– I recommend going on a Friday, if possible, because apparently Saturday and Sunday can get quite crazy(trunk shows are usually on weekends, I believe). LB had a wedding cake and refreshments for shoppers to enjoy, and had an elegant dressing area. I loved everything about the place, I got to try on all kinds of dresses by different designers, which was so exciting! The only problem I had, which wasn’t really with the store per say, was that it’s kind of snooty since they really carry only the most expensive wedding dress designers. If you aren’t looking to spend several thousand dollars(I’m talking at least 3K), then I wouldn’t go to Louise Blum. I actually didn’t end up buying my dress from there because I found one that I loved more at a different boutique by a designer not carried by Louise Blum, but I did enjoy my experience.
