The Yellow School is a very good school, but they don’t allow cloth diapers which is ridiculous. That’s a deal breaker for me.

We cannot comment on any aspect of this congregation other than our observation of their pumpkin patch fund raiser this past weekend. The church(as typical) had laid out a sea of pumpkins in the front and people were coming to enjoy the occasion. Everything seemed orderly and neat is all we can say as we were simply driving through the area.

The large book known as the Bible contains the tenants of the Christian faith. In it, the Gospel of Matthew presents a short passage that spells out the top priorities of those who call themselves believers in Christ. In a nutshell, they are(1) Love God;(2) Love neighbor. Everything else written in that book hangs off of these principles. If you attend a Church that has an agenda that supersedes this, allow me to suggest that a roadblock has been thrown in the path that follows the teachings of a carpenter from an uncool backwater of the Roman Empire 2000 years ago. In our«me» focused culture, sacrificial love can appear unintuitive and not particularly cool. Many attend church to be filled with theologically uninformed promises of personal prosperity if you love Jesus. Real Christianity offers no such thing. If you’re currently looking for a Church that truly acts on the tenants of «Love God; Love neighbor», you may wish to check out Memorial Drive United Methodist Church(MDUMC). Found just West of the toll road on the West side, MDUMC offers many opportunities to serve others including: — Support a Community Center in the Larkin area of town that includes day care and an emergency food pantry — Volunteer at a soup mobile in downtown Houston — Participate in prison ministries — Mentor children at a local elementary school — Share your talents to aid those in need in many mission trips scattered around the country and globe — Volunteer to work with hundreds of teenagers in large-scale work camps that transform communities around the State of Texas — And the list goes on and on… The Gospel that is preached at MDUMC challenges all who listen each week to take the focus off yourself, trust in God and achieve miracles in the lives of others(and, by doing so, transforming your own).
