CASHONLY! Let me give you that warning up front. I am the kind of person that will support local businesses before I will a chain. When I saw«My Food’s All That» locally, I had to try it out. When I looked on their website, they said they serve old fashion hamburgers, so i decided to give those a try. For a few years I was part of a group called«Burger Quest» where we would go all around Houston to find where the best burgers are. How can I resist right? Unilocal and their Website are not updated on their current address. They moved to 14666 Wallisville, and I didn’t find out until I drove past the address listed six or seven times and decided to call. I found the place and went in. I honestly didn’t think it was a restaurant at first. Now, I know a lot of restaurant critics will say«How the place looks on the outside is a reflection of how the food will be» is not always true. I’ve walked into some places that looked like a dirty hole in the wall, but the food was fantastic. I will always give a place the benefit of the doubt. My wife and I ordered two hamburgers, no fries and an order of their chicken tenders to go. When we got home I was shocked in both a good way and a bad way. I was surprised to see the chicken tenders being so thin. Imagine going to Popeye’s or KFC and ordering chicken tenders. Now, make them thinner and longer. At first I thought… «Hmmm. Clever.» Kinda make your own statement, put your own spin on things. But they were bone dry and rubbery. They were cooked too long. The key problem… they were simply too thin. Extremely thin. And it’s sad too because the breading was pretty good. Now the one piece that was a little thick(still smaller than normal) was tender and juicy. If all of their tenders were like this, it would have been great. But sadly they weren’t. When it came to the hamburgers, we were also shocked, in a good way and a bad way. The patties were a really good size, about a half pound after being cooked. They are honestly the kind of burgers that when a meat lover looks at them would go «Mmmm, now that’s what i’m talkin about!» … Now… i’ve had a lot of burgers… a LOT… so what started out to be a hopeful delight turned out to be a disappointment. There was no seasoning. Not even salt and pepper. How disappointing. Now, there are a lot of people out there who say«i don’t cook with salt because some people don’t like it» … that’s a very small portion of the consumers. If people are that concerned or have that much of a dietary restriction they always ask for it to not be cooked with salt. I have friends who are professional chief’s and the #1 thing they are taught is to you have to use salt and pepper. They bring out the flavor! Once I sprinkled a little bit of salt and pepper on it, it was great! I would honestly go back again, if it tasted that great without me backing to doctor it up. Now, I’m sure there are going to be some people who read this and ask«Why would you order a hamburger at a soul food place?» I would reply with, if the soul food is that amazing then don’t put something on the menu that does not live up to the standards of the rest of the food. On a side note, the condiments were too big also. I know that sounds weird, but the tomato was more like a tomato steak… it was half inch thick slices and we got an entire section of onion. Gotta tone that down. These are not huge things, but they are just enough to either get a returning customer and never see a new customer again. Personally, I might give it one more try. Sometimes it’s an off day. I’ve seen that happen in local spots. But«My Food’s All That» needs some fine tuning. Until then, it’s just«My Food’s … That»

Before going here i jumped on Unilocal and read the review, i figured i had to try it. Pulling up I asked myself is this it. No it cant be. Than i walk in, complete hole in the wall. Im thinking to myself Unilocal reviews were all lies. At the end i still decided to order. OMG, the meal was great. I would have given this place five start if the place looked as good as it’s food taste

I work right around the corner from this place, and we had our office Thanksgiving lunch catered by them yesterday. This was my first time having soul food: Ah-mazing! Well seasoned, large portions, and very well priced. We ordered a full fried turkey, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes/gravy, okra and tomatoes and a sweet potato pie. This is not their usual menu, but if it’s any indication what the other food tastes like– I will be there often. All this food was $ 85 and fed 10 people with a lot of leftovers. The okra and tomatoes are the best I’ve ever had, and the homemade mashed potatoes and gravy was excellent. Go try it out for yourself!

If you are a fan of «This is It», Houston’s soul food institution, but you live on the East Side, this is Mecca. You know the drill, a huge, oversized, well seasoned meat(such as meatloaf, ox tails or a smothered pork chop), two huge southern style veggie portions and cornbread. Burgers are incredible, and the pork chop sandwich could probably feed 5 starving Europeans. The«iced tea» seems a little like kool aid to me… but its growing on me. I only angsted about posting this because if enough of you read it, you will crowd the place up and it only has like 7 tables.
