Nancy’s Taqueria sits on the 1400 block of Washington Ave. across the street Trinity Lutheran School, practically on the corner of Houston and Washington Ave. The menu is written on yellow and orange poster board and has been sun bleached, so it makes it difficult to read. It’s your typical taco truck fare, tacos, tortas and Mexican soft drinks. I wasn’t to hungry on this day but still did my Unilocal duty, to bring Taco Trucks to the forefront of the Houston food scene… errr, I saw an FTR opportunity. I ordered a fajita and al pastor taco. I thought the fajita had some good seasoning, but every bite had a rubbery fatty piece, not very appetizing. The al pastor on the other hand is probably one of the best of the taco trucks I have tried. Big pieces of pork loaded with great flavor and topped off with fresh cilantro and onions. I just topped it off with of their homemade salsa, which made for a very good taco. The best part about this taco truck is the complimentary 4oz. cup of «frijoles a la charra» whole pinto beans served in a broth with pork, onion, and cilantro. It was a nice surprise and it was delicious. I would come back for the complementary frijoles and maybe 3 tacos al pastor and it would all be washed down with a bottle of Mexican Coke.
