Stopped by the Farmers Market at the Rim in San Antonio on Sunday and picked up some naan and Paratha Dip and some Vegetable and Spinach Cheese Samosas. The naan and dip was really good. Lots of garlic in the dip, so I feel sorry for anybody who comes to close to me if they don’t like the smell of garlic. The Spinach Cheese Samosas were not good, they had a grassy taste and I did not detect any cheese. The Vegetable Samosas were very good, I loved them. The prices could have been better.

As some of you know, I was transferred to the Miami, Florida area to work with Nisha’s Indian Food new location. I was promised a $ 500 reimbursement for my drive and the first month of my rent paid by Manish Puri. Manish Puri owner of the Houston location was in Florida when I arrived. He refused to reimburse me, nor did he pay for my 1st. month’s rent, as promised. Manish simply wanted me out of Houston because I complained that the roaches and rats in the kitchen needed to be addressed without using toxic poisons that could migrate into the food prepared. Manish also caught me taking pictures of the filth in the Houston kitchen. He caught me taking pictures to prove he buys all his food ingredients from Restaurant Supply and Walmart. Not a single ingredient is purchased from local farms or suppliers. His Naan comes premade and prepackaged from an Indian food supply company off the Katy freeway. The nice lady that used to make the Naan quit because Manish never paid her. So, I am returning to Houston to tell the truth to all the farmers markets in Houston, Austin and San Antonio where Nisha’s Quick — N– Ease Indian Food does business. I even have receipts and pictures to prove it. Not to mention the proof of how Manish shorts his employees their pay.

Ok, this is for the Plantation, FL farmers market, which is where I saw this today. Couldn’t find a listing for it locally so am adding it. Until I looked up the web site I thought it was a local business out of Miami, a fallacy aided by the Cuban lady actually selling the food, who told me that Nisha was one of her closest friends and she ate this food all the time, absolutely delicious, etc. Once I saw the site and realized this was in fact, a non-local business, well, that gave me pause. Other things of note. My biggest gripe about this is the so-called«Paratha dip». I understand they are playing to an American audience, but I would think they would welcome the opportunity to introduce the food by the correct name(s) and call it Raita. The current name is a joke. Plus, I wouldn’t go so far as to say that you couldn’t find spinach-and-cheese samosas in India, but in my limited knowledge, it is pretty rare to do so. I tried it — it was ok but nothing to go crazy over. Buy a spankopita. Channa Masala — one of the easiest/cheapest things to make. I don’t see the point of paying so much for such a small quantity. I did buy the naan, because I’m a sucker for trying new breads, but could justify it by telling myself I would pay as much(1.50 each) for it in a restaurant. Until I try them, though, the jury’s still out.

Absolute crap… Being an Indian, I know what it is suppose to taste like and this is not good Indian food. I bought some parathas, dip and naan at the rice university market. What should normally cost 14 –16 bucks at a restaurant in hillcroft costed me 32 bucks… When the actual restaurant was shutdown, I should have guessed because nisha can’t cook Indian food. Wrapping mashed potatoes in tortilla is not paratha and mixing ranch with yogurt is not called dip… The food tasted like it was made by a 5 year old using an easy bake oven… Never going back…

Bought the Chicken Tikka Masala for my husband at the Bridgeland Farmers Market. My husband, who is the Indian food fan, said it was SO good and he wants to get more of it next time. Although the prices were a little bit high in my opinion, I feel that it is a quality and demand issue that causes that. Can’t wait to try more of their sauces and products. Thanks for making my hubby happy!!!

I just bought Pumpkin Paratha Bread and Lentil Masala Spread from Nisha’s at the Farmers Market. YUM! I love that they offer vegan items, but beyond that their food is seriously delicious. They have options ranging from mild to spicy as well as many gluten-free breads.

I picked up some saag paneer and chicken tikka masala at the farmer’s market at City Center. I like getting these because they’re what I use to judge Indian food. Yes, this is probably an unauthentic way to judge Indian food, but it’s what I know. My gold standard is the the saag paneer and chicken tikka masala I’ve had at several Indian weddings. I look for balance of flavors, ingredients, and crave-able-ness(yes. I made that word up.) Nisha sells their curries and things frozen/refridgerated. The saag paneer was delicious. I wish I had ordered 2x of these. Also, because I love cheese, I wish the cheese chunks were bigger. I think the spinach really held up to the freezing and unfreezing. The tikka masala, however, did not hold up as well. The sauce separated, but that’s no biggie, just a little unattractive. Also, there is no way I could even complain that the chicken tikka masala lacked meat. There was plenty of it… just maybe too much. The chicken was a little dry and I felt like I needed more masala to balance it out. Speaking of the masala, I felt like it was too tomato-y and a little salty. I’m not sure I would get this again. Special shout out to the naan. It was delicious. Long after I should have stopped eating, I was cramming down more naan. Mmm…30 sec on high wrapped in a damp paper towel makes it delicious. Seeing other reviews of the chickpeas makes me want to give Nisha another shot. But seeing as how 2 small containers of curry and a package of naan was $ 17, it’ll have to wait a while.

So, like others. I was shocked by the price. $ 19 for chicken samosas, saag paneer and spinach paratha. But, went ahead and bought thinking, «this stuff must be awesome. I can’t wait to eat!!». Well, I’ve had better saag paneer and samosas from the Whole Foods hot bar. Plus, the guy working the market was strange and had an attitude. Won’t buy from them again.

I cannot tell a lie. Up until now, I haven’t been Indian’s food greatest cheerleader. I have tried Indian food in different variations, but it just never stuck, until now. I specifically go to the Farmers Market off Richmond on Saturdays just to grab some of this tasty delight! As people have said, Nisha’s husband is quite the salesman, and will let you try anything and everything, therefore every time I walk away from their little stand, I am out $ 30-$ 40 bucks. It really is good stuff though, made with quality ingredients. The Chicken Tandoori, along with Greek dipping source is outstanding, their spinach and wheat naan is perfection, and their samosas are a huge hit in our office. Throw them in the toaster oven or micro and presto, you have a lunch in 4 minutes! Their apple chutneys are sweet, but savory, and pretty much everything I have had, I have fallen in love with. The prices are a bit pricey(or maybe its just that I buy too much) but I always leave their happy, and excited to share my new found love of Indian food with the world.

wow, i really wanted to like this place. i was craving some indian food for lunch, but was disappointed. so i came to the jones road location thinking this was a restaurant. cuz it says indian food right outside on the storefront. ummmm no. i tried to open the door, but this lady(the chef? she was wearing an apron and talking on her cell phone) went up to me and said, «we are not a restaurant. we manufacture food.» then she shut the door. oh. so this place doesn’t serve food, yall!!! how come i see dining tables inside? and the storefront is so prominently displayed outside on the busy intersection of jones road and west road? i don’t get it. they are paying a lot of rent for that space if they don’t want walk-in customers. weird! how come other Unilocalers were able to eat inside this building/not restaurant?

I came across Nisha’s Quick N Ezee Indian Food from the Midtown Farmers’ Market!!! My fellow foodie friend intro’d me to this booth and can definitely vouch for their business! The food is sooo good, fresh, and such great quality! The tastes are excellent! My favorites are: chicken chile curry, the one with chickpeas, and spinach naan. The samosas with mango chutney and green cilantro sauce go very well together too! The food is soooooooooooo delish!!! I can’t wait to have their food for lunch again. =)

I believe that Indian food should be Quick N Ezee N Cheep(like a baby chick), so I had been dismayed at the $ 7 price tag for some naan the first time I’d stopped by. I finally bit after passing by it on several trips to the farmers markets, and, oh, man, the guy working the stall? I get the feeling he’s a car salesman and he just does this for kicks. Quick N Ezee has options like paratha(like giant tortillas sandwiching thin pastes of pumpkin, spinach and something else, and… you know, other stuff; $ 4), naan(fluffy carb – yay! $ 7), samosas, chutneys, curries, saag paneers, tandoori chicken, and the like(the last five – counting«the like” – are in small 8oz tubs, around $ 5 – 6). You can get samples. In fact, it’s positively frightful how quick on the draw the car salesman is when it comes to offering samples. After handing me a sample, he offered someone else a sample, then, as I picked up a tub of something else, offered me another sample, and then offered another sample to another woman, who had already forgotten she had been interested in that item. If you exhibit the slightest sign of interest, he will try to reel you in. I rather imagine this is how girls were sold in the past and in some Asian countries. Oh, you glanced at the samosas? I can give it to you for $ 2 less. If you get a second tub of something, I can give it to you for half off. I wouldn’t come here in anything less than a stable state of mind, as I’m sure I’d get home and be bewildered to find my trunk full of Indian food. It’s nice being able to have Indian food at home, but the food isn’t remarkable, and I still find it too expensive for what I’m getting. Also, I could’ve sworn he’d told me the chicken tandoori was a dollar cheaper, but, with his Jedi mind tricks, I can’t be sure.

Very tasty dishes and very attentive service. We started with the veggie samosa’s — fairly big, but $ 4 for 2 seemed a little high. For our main course we had Vegetarian Jalfraze, Chicken Tikka Masala, the Mushroom dish, and the other M chicken dish. Medium spice is pretty spicy(be warned) — but all of the dishes were plenty filling, and with 4 dishes for 5 people we still had leftovers to take home.

I should have known better. This is a review of how annoyed I am with myself. Nisha’s Quick N Ezee really is what it states. You can purchase a variety of samosas(spinach and cheese or chicken), parathas(flat bread), chutneys, and little tubs of Indian curries and/or veggies at the local farmers markets. I happen to see them at markets I’ve frequented which are the Rice market on Tuesdays, Urban Harvest @ Eastside on Saturdays, and The Highland Village Market on Saturdays. I’ve purchased from them before. They’re a little pricey and not«the best» for what it is, but the price is fair enough and the food is good enough. I recently purchased a bag of spinach and cheese samosas and some mango chutney. That combination cost me $ 15. I burned through the first bag and am on my second; I think you get about 7 samosas per bag. I should’ve brought some with me for lunch today, but no. I needed to make sure the vending machine food at my office held a candle to Nisha’s food. Comparatively, office vending machine food is less fresh, although possibly as convenient, but definitely not as tasty or worth their value as Nisha’s Quick N Ezee products. Vending machine food=BOO! Nisha’s Quick N Ezee=Yay!

I went to the farmer’s market at Rice University(every Tuesday afternoon — rain or shine) for the first time. I have to say Nisha’s is my favorite vendor(besides the cute puppies). The gentleman working there was very friendly and gave me generous samples of the samosas and parathas with various chutneys. I went there on a mission to find a cilantro chutney and WOW I succeeded! He let me try a new tomato chutney, which was good, but not my particular favorite. I also tried their special paratha dip which reminded me of Tzatziki sauce, made of yogurt, garlic, herbs and hot pepper. I ended up buying the cilantro chutney and paratha dips(about $ 5 each), the chicken samosas and a package of the spinach parathas. The chicken samosas, by the way, are freezable. Pros: One of a kind food, very good! Friendly service and generous samples. Fun to be out at the farmer’s market to visit locals. Cons: Only available at Farmer’s Market on select days. A tad bit pricey…

Well they now have a restaurant. I am hooked on their tamarind chutney and two of us went through half a jar just last night as an accompaniment for a dish you never get served in an Indian restaurant, curried pork shoulder. I am glad I spend a lot of time at markets where Nisha has a booth, they are unfailingly polite, produce some superb food and are always very generous with their samples.

This review is of Nisha’s Urban Harvest Eastside location. Nisha’s booth is the first booth on the left when you come into the market from Eastside. There is usually a short line that moves pretty quickly, unless you get the people who want to try every item they have. The guy is pretty patient, though, and will freely give out samples. They have fewer than a dozen prepared Indian dishes and a few different types of Naan. The prepared dishes will set you back $ 5 for an 8 oz. container. Everything I have had is fresh. My favorites would be the Saag Paneer and the Veggie Curry. Not to spicy. One container usually makes a meal for me if I steam some rice. I haven’t tried the naan, so I can’t comment on it. I usually get to the market right after it starts so Nisha’s usually is pretty well stocked. I’m not sure if they run out later in the morning, so it’s best probably to get there early.

I sampled some of their items, while at the Midtown Farmers Market, and the samples were SOGOOD, that bought some. The guy there was very generous with samples, which probably prompted me to buy more than I really needed. I got the Spinach Paratha, Potatoe Paratha and the Paratha Dip($ 15). I never even bothered to heat the Paratha’s up – I just ate them straight out of the fridge, cold with the dip – and they were absolutely FABULOUS!!! The only thing is, I think that the next day I kinda smelled, or had an odd odor… I’m just sayin’!! :-/

The name says it all! Nisha’s Indian food is absolutely awesome and quick to prepare. My husband and I purchased Nisha’s Chicken Tikka Masala and Spinach Paratha. I just walked away for two seconds to start this review and my husband consumed all of the paratha! Nisha’s was for sale this morning and afternoon at the Wabash Feed Store on Washington Avenue. According to their website, they actually sell products at a bunch of other farmer’s markets around Houston. Check them out and buy extra of everything! PS — The free samples were insanely generous.
