I love this place, but the only reason why I’m only giving this place a 4 star not 5 is because a lot of times some of the bartenders are not very friendly. Sometimes they don’t make the effort to acknowledge you or takes a long time before helping you. Maybe after buying a few drinks or they see you more often then the bartenders may approach you faster. Besides that, I love how they have a side bar, an outdoor patio, and a dance club with a DJ spinnin’ the tracks all in one location. The people that go here are usually really cool and easy going. And just an FYI to straight people who go here, if you get hit on, just be nice about it. You are at a lesbian bar so don’t be all mean about it, not necessary. I love the music they play here at the dance club and the side bar. If you want to just chill and chat, the side bar and outdoor patio it where to go. The outdoor patio is very spacious and there are games out there to play such as jumbo Jenga, basketball, and corn hole. The drinks are decent priced and not crazy expensive so that is definitely a plus. Also, there are bathrooms at the side bar and the dance club side. They are fairly clean and that is something I really like. Some bars and club have some nasty and dirty bathrooms which is very disgusting making you not want to go there anymore. Another thing I like about Pearl Houston is that they crank that AC up to where dancing and drinking is comfortable unlike some bars. Overall, drink prices are decent, customer service so far is okay, environment is fun and clean, and music is upbeat. I have been here for a few occasaions and just to chill and hangout. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a cool and chill bar to hang out at or looking for upbeat music to get groovy on the dance floor. Also, a great outdoor patio to drink and chat.

I really liked this bar at first but I experienced a nasty male bartender on steak night. Really should not have bad treatment at a lesbian bar.

I really like Pearl Bar. Unfortunately us lesbians really get the short end of the stick when it comes to gay clubs. They come and go way too often, and often while they’re here they’re not very good.(Ranch Hill, I’m talking to you!) Pearl is an exception. It has a casual vibe, the music is upbeat, but the best thing about it is the bartenders don’t suck. You get your money’s worth with your drinks here. The biggest buzzkill when going to the bar is getting stiffed on your drinks, IMO. My wife and I are light drinkers, so we’re good to go after a couple of drinks apiece at home. And that’s what we get at Pearl Bar: a couple of drinks apiece because that’s all we need to get. We have a great time and the drinks are very good. I highly recommend the Cherry Vodka Sours if you’re into that kind of thing. We’ve been here three times and enjoyed it each time. Another plus: the bathrooms are clean. Bar bathrooms with throw up or other varieties of disgustiness in them ruin an otherwise nice evening for me, and they keep things tidied up nicely. Party on!

As new residents and neighbors of Da Pearl we’re happy to support local business. We weren’t happy with the lack of quality tonic water and made up Ginger ale(coke+sprite) but after a Facebook review the mgmt quickly apologized and has since repaid UA with complimentary drinks(and bought some ginger ale for me!) We always meet cool people here, the music videos and quirky décor is very entertaining and the music next door is a nice mix of genres for all demographics(opens sometime between 9 – 10 not quite clear on that as yet…) I’m debating heading down right now in my sriracha shirt and torn up jeans hehehe… Always nice to have options… Cya there!

I been going here with groups it’s nice. But honestly the music is getting boring. They need to be more diverse play more mixed music if they will play tejano and all that. I enjoy the music but music should be more upbeat and also have a diverse night.

I stumbled into this bar on accident. The barkeep was heavy handed with my drink, and that made me like the place. I’ll be back, probably, though not on accident.

Absolutely loved it! Tuesday was my first night ever being here and it was great. I came for the WAN Poetry Ladies Mic Night and was very impressed with all the poets. The crowd was young and very fun. We had a great time and I’ll definitely be back soon.

Yes, I will frequent this place. The Side Bar that is. Pearl Bar was actually closed for a private party on this Sunday afternoon. The Side Bar is the adjacent sports bar next door. We were meeting friends for a football game anyhow. And since I am not a dance bar gal much anymore, this was perfect. I like sitting at a bar and talking and watching sports and drinking beer and bourbon anyhow. Nice long bar, plenty of tables. Nice lounging spot up font with couches. And there are TVs everywhere! If you want to watch a sporting event this is a great place. The staff was friendly and quick. $ 5-$ 6 for a nice pour of bourbon neat. I spent $ 20 for a bucket of local beer from St Arnold and Karbach. They actually made a bucket special for domestic beer after I bought mine — $ 12. But I would imagine that was for your basic Bud Light stuff anyhow. The wife doesn’t drink much anymore and was the DD. They never charged for her Coke all afternoon. Really nice beer selection. Full bar. Extremely clean and nice bathrooms. A five star little women’s bar for sports IF they had a larger parking area. But it’s the Washington corridor and parking down here sucks for everyone. Small little side patio with a couple tables where you can head out with your drink and smoke… also smoking out front.

Tuesday Steak Night. 16oz Ribeye and really loaded baked potato! Drink specials were great, food was excellent and the bartenders and customers were very friendly. Yum, I will be back for seconds.

It’s a simple place with no cover and good DJ. A club for mostly gay community but you could enjoy yourself if straight too.

I’ve got absolutely no complaints about this place. My first time here and I loved it. Great prices on drinks, music was awesome, from hip hop, pop, break beat you name it. Not just one boring beat like a lot of places I’ve been to. The crowd was great, a lot more friendly then what I had expected. Made me feel like I was at home, bartender always had a smile on her face and served drinks not making anyone wait too long. Also the bathrooms arent shared! Which is a plus to me. If you get hungry there is a food truck right outside, I thought that was awesome. I’d definitely come back when I’m in town.

Pearl = excellent and reasonably priced cocktails, inventive and engaging special events, comfortable and sexy décor, and caring and protective management. What else does a lesbian need?

This is an excellent location to loosen up and branch out your network. Super friendly staff and owner are clearly only two reasons why people come by. I don’t frequent the gayborhood, and at first everyone was grouped in ridiculous circles, but the layout, the connection w/The Sidebar, and the hardworking staff and DJs(shout to DJ Mel for rocking it out all night — and for my 80s jam, and DJ Phoenix for dishing non-stop crowd pleasers and working the floor) makes me look at my hands and use 2 specific fingers for this joint: thumbs, 2 of them up, for making the disappearance of «the usual,» an acceptable thing. If you’re into meeting people, good beats, fairly priced drinks, and engaging in random chatter on patios: this is the spot for you. If you’re an introvert, it’ll still work for you. Just drink a li’l’ and get on the floor. Good turnout for a «slow» Saturday, well-lit, plenty of space, clean joint, variety of faces, and a food truck posted up in the lot — what more could you want?

Big step up from what Pearl used to be. There was no vomit outside on the ground like the last time I went, so that’s a good start. Great bartenders, cheap drinks, good crowd. I will definitely be coming back to the new and improved Pearl Bar!

Atmosphere was cool. But the drinks weren’t that great. If you don’t have Ginger Ale, then just tell us. Don’t try and mix Coke and Sprite. It’s NOT the same thing. Bartenders also need to pay attention to who’s in line for drinks.

I love this bar. Any chance I get to spend some extra money on a good time there is no hesitation that I’ll be at Pearl. The staff is friendly and the owner is really sweet. I had an incident where my bank froze my card because I had suspicious activity on my account for going to multiple bars in one night and I couldn’t pay my tab that night and was so embarrassed and didn’t understand what was wrong at the time. The owner herself told us not to worry and to give sweet tips to the bar tenders the next time we were in. I was so thankful for that. I will always refer my friends and others here because of how fun and wonderful the experience is every time I come.

I really like this bar– the prices are fair, the bartenders are really friendly, and it’s got a kick-ass patio out back. It’s also the closest thing that Houston has to a lesbian bar right now!

My Husband and I came by here Friday night(our first time at this type of bar together) and we had a freaking blast!!! Music was great and everyone was very friendly and we didn’t break the bank here either! My Husband doesn’t dance but I had him on the dance floor until the lights came on! They had $ 2 parking across the street and no charge to get in. Several places to sit and make conversation with others. The outside patio!!! I’m sad we didn’t check it out until the end of the night so that’s my excuse to go by and check it out again LOL

Finally a lesbian bar worthy of urban Houston. Hot women, great D.J., fabulous bartenders. Saturday night and the women were friendly and happy just as it should be. Look forward to watching Monday Night Football and the Texans game there tomorrow night. No more nights at F-Bar with the ever increasing influx of straight women who think dancing at a gay bar is living dangerously… Ugh.

Great to relax with a small group of friends. «Yay! I’m a fan!» The bartenders here know what’s up. I like to tell them a few of the things I like and have them create something cool. I am now stuck on a Hibiscus Vodka thing that is on the menu that one of them recommended. The décor is very cool. Various leather chairs and couches to relax on. There is also a very large outside patio with cool signage and paintings. Kraken rum is obviously in on Pearl, as there is a lot of really cool octopus décor from them. Yes, this became a major lesbian hangout over the summer. I’ve been going to Pearl for about 8 months and it seems to be more-so every time I go in. If you have a problem with that, I recommend not going. However, I keep going for the Hibiscus Vodka and couch-lounging.

Went there for the first time last night. I haven’t been in the Houston scene in 3 years, so when I found out The Usual closed down, I was devastated. Where do the lezzies go now? I came here on a Thursday evening around 8:30 to meet someone and there was about 10 – 15 people there which eventually grew over time. It has an ambient feel when it’s less crowded so it’s a pretty chill spot, especially the patio with PLENTY of seating(there’s ping pong and another bar which I assume is open on a Friday/Saturday night.) A band called Colonial Blue played whom I thought was pretty sick and not some ratty tatty upset. It was good live music. If y’all happen to read this, good job! Coming from a fellow musician. I definitely plan on coming back, but maybe on a Friday or Saturday since I’m the type that likes to dance on a floor that’s a little bit more dense with people. My friend told me it can get pretty crowded on the weekend. I bet! The lezzie hangouts keep getting shut down, we need a haven somewhere. The ONLY thing that was on my mind was that they need a sound guy/DJ. It’s not enough to bring it down to 4 stars bc the band balanced out their sound pretty well without one. But after the band played, it seemed like someone just put their iPod on shuffle and just let it play. BUT like I said, it was a Thursday night and who wants to fund a sound guy for one night when the crowd is a little sparse? Maybe it was just that particular night but as far as first impressions go, a nice replacement for The Usual which was my original go-to back then. UPDATE(3÷8÷15)… DJ Phoenix from 104.1 mixes here on Saturday night. Major brownie points. Friday nights, Latin music at Side Bar, Thursday is DJ Athenz, Wednesday is Patrice Pike. Tuesday is steak night.(I don’t care that I went backwards)

I poked my head in as I was checking out the area bars. My impression was that there were a number of women there, which showed promise. But I suspected it was a lesbian gathering of some sort, so I didn’t stay. A couple industry folks later told me this was the new lesbian hangout. I’ll pass this on to some folks that are interested in that, myself, not so much.

This is a cool spot that makes you feel at home the moment you step in… although the steaks on the grill were enough of a draw. I won’t say it was our first choice of the evening but it should have been with a 3 course steak dinner and a pint of ale special. The vibe is relaxed and comfy sort of like a homecoming to watering hole that resides in our collective mythos. Being an IPA hound I was not disappointed with a full selection of local, KARBACH, and other varieties. I recommend on many accounts. Staff friendly and personable.

The old Pearl Bar is back open! The grand opening was last night. This was the best patio in town back in the day so I am glad to see it open again. There have been some light renovations as far as the décor inside but overall the place has the same look as it used to. My only complaint would be the beer selection. Bud Light/Miller Lite/XX/Lone Star was ALL they had out on the patio. Maybe they’ll get more… we shall see.
