Brunch was really good, I had the breakfast tacos and my friend had the burger on the brunch menu. Would totally come back to eat those two items.

My fiancé and I went there because of the Houston Press Review, here is the end result: Cool atmosphere, but looks neglected. Service was poor. Food was okay, wings bad, burger average. Ordered two beers, both warm. 90 minutes after dinner, we are at home with severe upset stomachs. There would need to be some major changes to return. A disappointing way to spend our date night.

Pub has the best location and it’s fun to come here at night; however, if you ever want to eat here you should come two hours before you’re hungry because they have the worst service. The waitresses will never come to your table. I had to go to the bar to even get a beer today. It’s also a running joke with my friends that if you come here you’re not coming home for two hours(one of those waiting for your check).

Really like the food in this place. They also have a good brunch selection which I think has yet to be topped since Cook and Collins shut down. I also think their waiting staff is attentive. I’ll be back for the crawfish at some point in my life — it’s only 6 bucks a pound. Can’t rate it yet, but will add how the crawfish is to this review once I do. Prices seem to run your typical midtown standards, but they do offer food and drink specials. Usually I just stick to the specials and I never have a bad time. So if you’re looking for a good drinks + food combo, I would totally recommend. They also have a good outdoor area/seating for all of us outdoors lovers. Edit: came back for the crawfish and it could be a bit spicer, but side from that, flavor is good, size is great. And $ 6 a pound is a great deal for what you get. Upping my review to five stars for the good crawfish.

OK, so Epicure Friend and I decided on a whim to come here for a Friday night bite. Short version: A loud, millennial hangout with mediocre food, a trendier-than-thou vibe and no parking except valet. If you’re older than 30, forget about it — you are not their target demographic. Long version: This place is LOUD. We’re talking louder-than-a-football-game-loud. The doorman told us(well, shouted to us) twice to pick any table. So we did. Service wise it was average — although our waitress had to ask me twice what my order was. Seriously, honey — write it down, OK? Drinks were fine but pricey. Consider the neighborhood. My Jim Beam on the rocks was about $ 8. Epicure Friend’s wine was $ 5(it was happy hour). The food is where everything went south. In a word: salt. Too damn much of it, if you ask my tastebuds.(Maybe that’s to sell you more beverages?) We started with the onion ring stack. Overly-breaded and ended up looking like donuts. LOTS of salt in them. Not even the side of bleu cheese dressing could improve it. YUCK! I’ve had better at Outback. Epicure Friend got the 24-Hour hamburger with tater tots. Tots tasted like Ore-Ida’s from the freezer. And — you guessed it — salted down. I’m sure my arteries are singing the blues now. He told me the burger was not flavored to his liking. I got the fish tacos in three varieties — grilled, tempura and deep fried. They were in nice flour(not corn) tortillas and slathered with guacamole. A bit messy but hey, I can adapt. The grilled was OK. The tempura one was a bit salty.(I see a pattern here.) Then I tried the deep-fried one — which the waitress swore was her favorite and recommended to me. One bite and I had to quit. It was rock-hard, salty and tasted like a deep-fried golf ball. BLEAH! NOTE: Normally, I take the advice of the help because they’ve(hopefully) had a chance to sample everything on the menu. If a server can describe the dish to a T, it means that they really enjoyed it and that they took the time to learn what was in it. Our millennial waitress merely said«I like it» without elaborating. That should have been a clue. But I digress. Getting the check took forever. In the meantime, we were able to canvass the nearly 20TV sets all over the place — all of them focusing on the Super Bowl, the New Hampshire primaries and Johnny Football’s implosion, not necessarily in that order. So — will I return? Nope. There are better watering holes in Midtown that cater to this Gen-X’er. I won’t be back. Now if you’ll excuse me — I need to go flush the salt out of my system. It should take a week.

Went for the super bowl and it was packed! Still for how slammed it was a got good service from my waitress. Drinks were eh. Your average cocktail. Not a strong poor but also didn’t taste like just soda. I got the 24 hr burger and OMG… One of the best burgers I’ve had I was quite shocked. The best burger with an egg on it by far! I would go back just to have this as a cheat meal again. I had the curly fries as the side and they were average. But the burger is worth the entire visit!!!

Plenty of TVs and can get pretty live. Not my first place to go to but definitely like to hit it up if I’m in the area. I’ve gone a couple times during the weekday for the specials. It’s pretty chill

Lots of TVs! Great place to watch multiple games! Fun atmosphere! On another note, I love to snack on something when I’m drinking but the food here is only mediocre.

Love this place! Have been several times! The food is great and the atmosphere as well! I enjoy the patio area as well. Pulp Fiction is one of my fav movies! If you go you gotta try the Wolf burger! Sooo good!

Absolutely pitiful customer service. Waited for anyone to come say hi to us for a good 20 – 30 minutes after we sat down. We got nothing, except a smug, «have a nice day!» on the way out from the door man who said he sent our waiter over. Plenty of other spots to hit around there, avoid the frustration and go somewhere else if you want to chill, eat and watch a game.

Came for steak night. Service was a little slow. This is clearly more of a bar then restaurant. With that being said the steaks are okay they look a lot better then they taste. The drinks are extremely strong so be careful. I would come again just not for a steak.

I rarely considering giving the popular midtown bars reviews that are overly positive, but I wanted to give a shout out to Pub Fiction for having staff that is proactively looking out for their customers… especially Will, a bouncer that truly knows how to ensure that the fun environment remains in tact despite dealing with tons of drunk assholes… myself included :( There was a situation where a rude patron was harassing a group of my friends and me, and things got a little heated. Will diplomatically resolved the issue at hand without anyone being offended or leaving the bar. As we all know, making multiple drunk people(especially girls and 40 year old men acting like girls) feel at ease when tensions are high is a huge plus, and I applaud Pub Fiction for having wonderful staff members like Will around to provide an excellent customer experience. I will be back!

Such a standard Midtown sports bar. I do like that there are lots of large tables and plenty of seating. Valet parking is $ 6 and there’s no parking on the street by it from 4−6pm on weekdays(which hello, is prime happy hour time). Their food is decent and pretty standard for a sports bar. One thing I do really like is their quesadillas. Wings were way too salty. Beers are FLAT. I’m talking flat. We ordered Bud Lights on draft(it was one of those nights) and they literally tasted like pee. Ew.

I don’t really find Pub Fiction to be that fun. I think that 3rd Floor is more fun and it is located just upstairs from this bar. I mean this bar might be good for a QUICK stop on your bar hopping tour. But, I would hit this bar up first to get a simple pre-game. It seems like no one in this bar is out to have a good time. It’s Midtown! It wouldn’t hurt for you to show a little bit of life! Whenever I end up at Pub Fiction, there are a lot less people in here than at other bars. It just feels wrong being in a place that doesn’t seem lively when I’m out to have a social time. I also go out to new bars in order to meet new people. It seems like people here are very closed off and don’t want to wander away from their cliques. It is really hard to just go up to a random person and say hi. Most people tend to be sitting in their groups at their table and it’s really hard to break the ice here. One thing that I do enjoy here is the alcohol. I go to bars to drink. And I love the sangrias here. They are on point! So, get a sangria to start your night off. And then hit up the more lively bars in the area for a good time!

The couple of times I’ve been here have actually been for day drinking, so I can’t say much on how the locale is at night. Adequate selection of beer and specials. The main thing I like is the huge space on the inside and the massive courtyards where they occasionally have food. Not one of my favorite locales in midtown, but still good.

I gave myself a few days to write this review because I wanted it to come from a place of somewhat less anger. I have been to Pub Fiction several times in the past and always had an enjoyable experience. However, I will never return to this establishment after what occurred to me and my group on Saturday evening, January 24, 2015. A group of 10 of us were celebrating a friend’s birthday in Midtown. Pub Fiction was supposed to be our second stop of the night. When we arrived at the ID check, we were all allowed into the patio area, except the last individual. He was wearing a nice button-down shirt with Jordans. He was told that sneakers are not allowed. I understand that private businesses have the autonomy to create their own dress code; however, a dress code needs to be enforced with consistency. I promptly pointed out that several individuals already on the patio were wearing sneakers. The difference? They were white, and my friend was black. No one cared that this was blatant racial discrimination. I am appalled by this behavior, and I will certainly encourage all of my friends to no longer be patrons of this business.

Three stars for the food and drinks-the nachos are delicious and come in a veritable mountain of cheese and tortilla chips. I also managed to get delightfully buzzed while watching a football game for a very decent price at the end of the night. I’d kick this review up to four stars if the joint wasn’t packed with annoying hipsters. Don’t get me wrong, some hipsters are alright, but the ones in Pub Fiction are trying too hard.

Somehow, I’ve never been here. So for last Sunday’s football game, I met up some friends who had chosen this as their viewing location. Apparently it’s also the current Chicago Bears watch bar, in case you want to join in on any of that. Lots of TV’s, lots of seating. It can get a bit hard to get around when it’s crowded due to people using extra chairs all over the place. Service was nice, but could be slow. Mimosa carafes were only $ 10(only ½ bottle of champagne) and a number of brunch options were available along with the regular fare. I saw the pancakes and they are pretty tasty looking and a good size. I opted for fish and chips for whatever reason and got the curly fries based on Sandy H’s suggestion. Not too shabby, but not the best. I suppose for bar food it’s pretty good. Another tablemate ordered a ridiculous looking taco salad. I don’t think I’ll be frequenting this venue, but I wouldn’t have any issues coming back. On a side note, the musical transitions during the commercials were excellently done. It’s the little things.
