Ranchester Food Store

The layout is utilitarian and the selection is sparse but… the people that work there are cool and they remember you. They remember me and what I like to buy there (+ in my book), they don’t know my name… but i don’t know theirs either (might be + in your book). In any case their selection is limited but they are super fast and efficient.
If you feel like drinking a 12 pack of beer in front of their store they are ok with that too. I’m pretty sure they recycle all the containers that litter their lot.
just remember It only looks shady, but it’s not.

Some may be wondering why I would review a establishment like this. I’ll tell you why.
This little gem located less then a block from Tan Tan on Bellaire is your end of the night stop for all things. Seriously, I mean all things.
Came upon this spot turning the wrong way out of Tan Tan one early evening.
Located tucked away in a mini mini mini shopping strip. Along with a take out pizza joint, another liquor store (high five), and hispanic beauty salon.
You can get your beer, ice, condoms, and snacks. You can even get copies made and motor oil. Only thing it doesn’t have is spirits. Just walk 2 doors down and that is readily taken care of.
One of the few places in the city where 20oz sodas are still $ 1.20.
For you folks that might aimlessly walk into here one night. Don’t worry about the folks hanging around. Usually too drunk to bother you for change. The bulltproof glass is there for decoration only.
They do close at around 10:30pm, so get there early.
