The best dance floor in Houston with techno music. Therefore it can get really crowded to where you can’t move your hand!

Red Door was so much fun! My friends and I came after midnight because one of my friends was convinced that it opens at midnight(pretty sure it’s open regular hours for a club). There is no signage. just look for the glowing REDDOOR! We got in very quickly and went immediately to the dance floor. Once you get in, just keep walking through every door or staircase you can find until you find this huge room with flashing lights and more than 100 people dancing. We danced the night away to great upbeat music and I met my Fitbit step goal of 10,000 steps very quickly :) Drinks are also very cheap. The one bad experience I had was a fight started near me twice and the second time, someone pulled my hair.

This is a real mixed bag, but I’d go again. It started with the bartender in the outdoor section not having a bottle opener and asking me if I had one. How is that going to help you open the next bottle, exactly? Once the club opened up downstairs, we had a great time until around 1:30, where an almost exaggerated display of predatory, non-dancing men just walking around looking for women took over the dance floor. It was really unfortunate, because before that I think the crowd had really found a good stride. Show up early, grab a few drinks, dance your heart out and duck out before 1:00AM for the best time.

This club isn’t for minorities. If you’re white you’re welcomed. If you are a minority you better be dressed in your sundays best. For girls, it just depends on the night and the bouncer. All I know is that some girl was allowed in by wearing scrubs and of course she was white. My friends that were guys and wearing appropriate attire weren’t even allowed in. um… I didn’t know turning up in scrubs was acceptable… like B** pls. What the hell are you doing at Red Door for?

We celebrated a friend’s birthday here. I really liked it. I would also like to note that the smoking room is separate from the dance floor. I hate when you can not breathe. I accept that only good music played here. We really to hang out.

Last month I had an injury here. The staff cleaned up everything from a VIP table except 2 broken glasses on the floor next to it. One of them gashed the side of my foot open and I had to get stitches. The«manager» told me «That’s what you get for wearing sandals to the club»(direct quote). When it’s 105 degrees in Houston what the hell else am I going to wear? He offered me a measly bandaid despite the fact that this VIP table was covered in blood. My foot soaked right through the bandaid and continued to bleed for hours until the stitches were in place because the gash was so deep. I incurred costs from x-Ray and urgent care visit for stitches, 24 hours of missed wages because I couldn’t walk– not to mention the horrible pain I was in. And when I emailed management they completely ignored me. This bar is unsafe and irresponsible. If any injury lawyers find this review and feel there is grounds for a case, please feel free to contact me ASAP. Management, if you see this and actually care this time around, I need your insurance company/policy info.

Bouncer tried to charge twenty bucks a head since we were dressed too«casual». I understand not letting people in because they don’t meet the dress code, but charging 20 bucks if not? That’s a bouncer trying to make money under the table through bribery, not enforcement of the dress code. My wife got in with my friends shortly before my other friend and I arrived afterwards. When my wife was on her way out she was practically sexually assaulted twice. One guy grabbed her around the waist and started thrusting. Sorry but collared shirts don’t keep the rapists away. So yeah, have fun at the red door if you like raping women. Welcome to the bar scene I guess.

This place is actual garbage. First of all, I’m not into clubs so I was immediately turned off by the atmosphere here, but that’s a matter of personal preference. Not long after we arrived, we decided it was time to go elsewhere. Our phones weren’t getting any reception down there, so when the group got split up we decided to look around before leaving anyone behind. Apparently the deserted area that we were standing in to find our friend was the VIP area(there was no rope or clear signage and this was my first time at Red Door). A bouncer(rat-faced blonde boy) came up and started saying something to me. Honestly I couldn’t hear him at first because it’s so loud in there and I’m hard of hearing even on a good day. I guess he was trying to tell me I couldn’t be in that area, because all of a sudden he was screaming at me and shoving his flashlight in my face. I tried to explain to him that I was trying to leave but that I didn’t want to get separated from the people I came with so I was trying to find the girl who was missing. He wasn’t having that, so he kept screaming at me, and I kept telling him that I was trying to leave but obviously couldn’t with him in my face like that. Then he decided to use physical force and tried to shove me out of the area. Instead he was shoving me into the rail that was in front of me, again, ensuring that I couldn’t actually leave while still screaming at me to leave. He was also screaming at and shoving my friend who had no idea what was going on since she hadn’t talked to him before this point. We finally left the sacred VIP area and started making our way to the stairs. That lasted a good 30 seconds before Mr. Self Important came back with his flashlight saying we weren’t allowed to be there even though we were clearly walking towards the stairs to leave. At this point I was blocked in by him, a waitress, and some poor busboy who couldn’t get past this guy either. He called me a bitch and told me to get the fuck out of there several times. I kept trying to tell him and the waitress that I was trying to if he would just MOVE out of my way instead of jumping in front of me. I finally«got the fuck out of there» and will never go back. Don’t waste your time or money here.

Great place and one of a few good clubs still in Houston! Drinks are mid town priced but if you come here it’s for the dance floor and atmosphere, not the drinks.

I went to red door for the first time and had a blast! The scene was diverse with people from many different cultures. Dress code was dressy casual if that makes sense. The music was dub but they played some hip hop/Beyoncé too! There were many bars so getting a drink wasn’t too hard. The restrooms were clean and so was the patio. All in all I plan to return.

I went to midtown for the first time last night. This was last place we went to last night, and I had a blast. The drinks were well poured, the atmosphere was awesome, the patrons were fun, friendly, and approachable. I definitely look forward to my next visit. The only thing that could make a great night perfect is if they get in touch with me and tell me they have my keys in their lost and found.

I used to really love this place. Fun dancing all night! good drinks. Nice edm music. But last ¾ times the bouncer has been a complete jerk. Doesn’t matter what you’re wearing. If he doesn’t like you. He will not let you in. He will gladly let 4⁄6 Caucasian people in no problem. They could be wearing shorts and sandals. But if you’re Mexican, Asian, black. They Harass an give you so many problems. «Your pants are baggy, your shirt doesn’t look good, those shoes aren’t allowed.» An sometimes for no reason at all. You can’t go in. Sorry.” Seriously racism at the front door with the bouncer isn’t what you wanna start your night off with. I don’t think we’ll be returning to this place again.

These people are fucking racist ass holes. They won’t care what you wear or what you look like. If you have white pastry skin those fucking ass holes will let you in. Unless you are willing to tip them $ 50-$ 200 dollars to let you in. Good luck.

Super sweet layout with a bar upstairs and a dance area with two bar areas downstairs. Descending into the dance floor is reminiscent of those scenes in movies in which you enter the club, which is pretty cool. You also don’t have to pay cover, and the drinks are very reasonably priced. Music selection is good, although people do start getting kinda sloppy towards the end of the night, so you aren’t missing much if you leave around 1am or so.

No. If it was acceptable to leave this review at just that, I would! I will admit that all the problems I have with this place may be exactly what another person is looking for! So take this info as it applies to you! Cons: #1 worse thing — You can’t hear anything. If you aren’t downstairs dancing. You are literally just sitting there staring at your friends. No conversations! The actual place is pretty dirty, but I imagine it’s hard to keep such a place clean. The drinks are pretty expensive here as well. Pros: If you like dancing, this is the place for you. The dancing can be fun.

I’ve been here two times(last time i was able to get in was about 2 years ago) I heard about a change in ownership. Drink prices inside are incredibly high — from my memory, a vodka sprite and a shot cost me almost $ 20 — it’s very packed inside, there’s no room on the dance floor for you to move around. And you can barely breathe in there. Why am i giving it a 1 star? For all the above mentioned — as well as for the last time I tried to go in, the door guy had stared as down(we were all very well-dressed) then took a look at my friend’s ID and said«this doesn’t look like you, i need something else» we all know that’s an excuse to not let us in, but that’s ridiculous, he proceeded to let others in(of another race) that was dressed way worse than what we(asians) had. I’m very sad that in 2014 this still happens. Definitely never trying again and not recommending anyone to go — unless you’re white. And if you think it’s the fact that there’s not enough«females» — my friend tried the previous week before me with 7 girls and 3 guys(all again, well dressed) and was not let in(scanned all of them asians)

Can’t really comment on the place fully as we were rejected by the bouncer at the door. We were all 21, and the bouncer was pretty much racist since we were in a group of Asians. He was really disrespectful, and told us that our IDs didn’t look like us, even though none of us had fakes. He told us ‘we need to give him something else’ after seeing that we were Asians. First time I’ve experienced full racism in Houston at a public venue, and I refuse to ever go there again. We met up with someone that was at Red Door later on at another place, and she told us that we didn’t miss out at all.

I always have fun when I hit this spot. like the option of the upstairs bar or the dance floor downstairs. When this place gets crowded it gets packed but your still able to walk through the high energy dancing. The music is great. more techno mostly. If that’s not what you prefer you should still walk in and check it out for yourself.

I had my 21st birthday here and when I called to make a reservation the lady was super nice! I told her that I was turning 21 and she was like«ohhhh you’re gonna get f***ed up!» Anyways I booked a table for upstairs. When I got there, Jennifer, I believe that was her name, took my party and I into the club through the back door and took us to the table. However it was a table downstairs which was a lot more expensive than upstairs so I told her I wanted one upstairs. She went to check to see if there was a table upstairs but they were all booked so they said they will give me the table downstairs for a cheaper price. Fine with me! I had so much fun. Throughout the beginning I had to go in and out to grab friends. The cop at the back door asked if I wanted a slice of pizza. Heck yes! Thanks! Anyways, I had a great birthday and everyone that came for me had a great time. I came here again this past weekend and the line was long. We came here because Hughes hanger was too packed they weren’t letting anyone in. Anyways, we were waiting in line and one of the bouncer came by and asked how many was in our party and took us to the front of the line and let us in. Yay for not standing in line forever. And out party was two girls and two guys. I had a great time that night as well. I should come here more often.

I absolutely love Red Door! I’ve only been here a few times, but I have had a blast every time. This is really what a club should be like: *No cover *Great music ranging from hip hop EDM mixes top Top 40EDM mixes(ok, it’s a bit focused on EDM, but nothing wrong with that). *No pretension of other clubs. *The bouncers are actually quite friendly. *Fun and mostly young crowd. *Clean(relatively) bathrooms *Outdoor balcony *Basement dance floor *Cheap drinks($ 5 – 8 for mixed drinks? Hell yeah!). The only thing is that this place is usually pretty dead until at least midnight, so do make sure you take your time pregaming before you get here.

My friends and I have nicknamed this place Zion because of the crazy dance orgy scene in Matrix Revolutions. This is not an intimate place where you can have deeep conversations. This is a Turn Up For What, take shots, dance like a fool in a crowd with LOUD music experience. You will enjoy it you wanna let loose, but avoid this place if you hate crowds & loud music.
