The service was nice and the set-up has potential but the food and frozen drinks were not. Hope they get a better chef and work on drinks by the summer.

I just moved into the neighborhood and had to try this restaurant. The owner is super friendly and cool, and on top of that an awesome chef. I had blackened shrimp & grits and it was seriously delicious. I look forward to coming back for more!

Real chill and laid back place. Food is amazing besides the boudin balls. My faves are the etoufee and crawfish bread. The place is small but the outside cabanas are really comfy and heated in case you get cold.

Chill spot for good late night food, music and drinks. Laid back atmosphere. It has a nice patio and plenty of hookahs. The cabanas are spacious and comfortable.

I dined here in May with one of my girlfriends and we ordered crawfish, the boiled shrimp, and ordered the tilapia plate-or was it catfish? Anyway don’t remember that part but reasonably food for a fairly new restaurant. This place is like a cross between an outside lounge and a patio restaurant. We went on a Thursday evening and the place was not bustling with customers at all. A few people at the bar and a small group in one of the cabanas and me and my friend basically the whole time we were there. Service was great, but then again we were her only table. Crawfish: Flavorful enough, but extremely small. Wouldn’t order these if you are a true crawfish lover. Shrimp: The only reason why I would come back. Full of Cajun flavorful and all-ready peeled. Nice size. Tilapia/catfish plate lol: Seasoned well but cooked way too long. Also, our food took a great deal of time to come out to our table. My girlfriend and I didn’t notice the wait time initially because we were catching up after not seeing each other for awhile, but we were in the middle of our conversation for at least a good 30 minutes and realized we still haven’t had our food. We received our food shortly after talking to our waitress about the issue. I wondered how long would it had taken if the restaurant had more people. The manager/owner came by our table and introduced himself. He explain to us the concept of the business and what they planned to do in the future. I think if this place can take the time to iron out a few kinks and establish signature dishes for the menu and perfect them, they will be fine. Also it probably wouldn’t hurt to promote the business more. I loved the cabanas. This place could have the potential to be a new«hot» spot for this area if they could just get a clear focus.

Completely my bad for posting pics n not a review. Unfriendly staff at the bar. Unless u ask, u will not know what the happy hr specials are n they are not much. After 1 glass of the happy hr wine it wasn’t worth the time or $. One of the worst happy hr chardonnay I’ve ever tasted and room temperature! Had another round of poor drinks. Check my tips Unilocal. But then I got hungry. They re out of… at least 4 main dishes. In the middle of the week. Got the catfish and it was overcooked. Out of tartar sauce they tell me as they lay the catfish down in front of me. Huh? I was starved so I ate half but yes indeed I did tell the bartender as we were at the bar it tasted burned. No renumeration offered. Just a shrug. Had 2 long islands and left sober. The only good thing is Reggie jams showed up n sang for an hour. I spent around $ 70 with food/drinks not including the round the cook Wes bought for us. Not recommended. This is not it

I just left and let me start by saying there are some good things about this place… but there’s definitely room for improvement. The great: the boudin balls The meh: the crawfish were just okay but they were a good price The bad: the nachos were a big let down as well as the service and the wine is terrible. The nachos were smothered in bland cheese, very little meat, and over seasoned chips that were too chewy. I get that they’re homemade but I make my own chips at home and they’re crispy! The server was so slow and she would disappear for long periods of time. The other waitress was helping everyone and even picked up a few of her tables while she was doing who knows what in the back. She took my husband’s drink order and by the time she got back for mine she told me happy hour was over. Every food item we asked about she made it seem like it wasn’t great. I asked about a drink she says it’s okay but sweet, I asked about crawfish she says it’s okay but spicy, she made everything seem really unappealing. I asked her 3 times about the wine and she came back saying she couldn’t remember what they had and would write it down and come back but still didn’t know when she returned. I just asked for red. The wine is $ 10 but it tastes like $ 10 should buy you 3 bottles or a box of it. I would probably get an order of boudin balls to go but wouldn’t make this a regular hangout. Response to comment below: My visit was on 05÷27÷15

I liked this spot and totally love the cabanas… day party worthy. The food was good. The seafood nachos are a must-have. They have a full bar and a pretty decent happy hour. They lose a star, because the service was slow during a slow time; however, I’ll give them another shot.

I just had a wonderful experience eating at Rue 38. Right down the street from my house is a small eatery. Walking my dog one day I stumbled upon this place in my neighborhood I heard the music and I stopped and asked the waitress about the food. She gave me a sample of the Gumbo. I went home and immediately called a some friends we all decided to have dinner. We had Gumbo and the Pasta. The spices reminded me of my grandmother .The flavorful taste of shrimp appetizers, the great music and atmosphere was wonderful. I had a great experience and I will definitely return for the summer entertainment.

The food looks better on picture. I had the shrimp nd crawfish ettouffee nd it was less than mediocre. It tasted like it was not made fresh nd for $ 14 I was expecting large shrimps nd more crawfish but it was cooked with small salad shrimp. My friend had the catfish nd it was over seasoned, way too much salt. We also ordered the boudin balls nd it was horrible. It looked over cooked nd was cold on in the inside. The flavor just wasn’t there. I won’t be coming here anymore.

I’ll start with the positives. The drinks are really strong and the place very clean. The service, while the waitress attended to several people and the bar, was extremely slow. It took us two hours to get our food, eat, and get the check… And my brother and I are not slow eaters. I had been hearing good things about the gumbo, but too bad I didn’t get to try it because they were out. The prices for the food that you get is ridiculous. We got 4 pieces of alligator for $ 11. Lastly, the«beignets» are merely Timmy Chans biscuits with powered sugar on them. The poboy is mostly bread for $ 11 and it’s small. For $ 3 more I could get two big Poboys from Sleepy’ poboys. We probably won’t go back unless it’s for the drinks.

Came here for brunch. Sat in one of the cabanas for 10 – 15 mins. No service. My friends and I got up and moved to a booth on the inside for better service.(Mind you the place was NOT packed). Sat at the booth for exactly 17min before the waitress came to take our order after we stopped every waiter that walked by. The place is super cute with a lot of potential. There is a Dj and the food smells amazing but the service is poor. I may try to come back another day.

Okay so my first time here. I ordered the shrimp and crawfish etoufee and a gumbo. The gumbo has an authentic roux. It has bits of crab legs, shrimp, chicken, and sausage. It even comes with potato salad. Now those of you that KNOW, you know it can’t get more authentic than that! The etoufee was delicious. I was not disappointed. However, the quality of ingredients can be better. The shrimp was of that you could find at your local grocery store in a frozen bag. The fries that my friend had with his food had clearly come from a frozen pack. I am a true foodie so that is why I point out things like that. And with quality I am willing to pay for it. The atmosphere is inviting. It is a good place to hang out with friends and/or family. There are outside gazebo like elements that add to the ambience. Our server was awesome and very attentive. I will definitely be back!

This is my second time here the food is pretty good. I had the nachos with beef, shrimp, crawfish very tasty and a Rita swirl. Came on a Saturday night after the PV vs TSU game where PV won of coarse. @tim-bae was the Dj he played good music including Reggae.

I had the gumbo. It. Was. Delicious! Ever thing smelled and looked good. The drinks were strong and the happy hour prices were good. The only downside was the service — the service was slow. They don’t have the staff to accommodate the rush at this time, but I hope it will get better. I’ll definitely be going back.

Visited today for the first time after seeing someone’s food pic on Instagram. The food and service was great. We were there on a Saturday afternoon so no one was there. It’s a small space so I can see parking and over crowding being a problem once business picks up because it’s on a deadend street in the heart of 3rd ward. I would give them 5 stars but they lost me with the all you can eat buffet on the menu but when we asked about pricing they said that it varies between $ 12 – 15 and there will be select menu items… huh? That’s not all you can eat. oh but the fruit will be all you can eat so if ya money funny you may be able to slide through on a Sunday and get full off of fruit? I suspect it will get better once business picks up. I will return.
