Jessica Watkins is an artist. She won’t just sit you down and give you a stylebook /​assembly line style like the bigger chains do. When I first moved to Houston 8 years ago, I floundered around looking for a stylist who treats you like an individual.
A friend referred me to Jess (after I complimented my friend’s hair) and 5 years later I won’t let anyone else touch my hair. I’m single but I’ve already told her she’s going to do my wedding hair (to which she replied, «You better!»). Any event I have, I go to Jess. She works with your schedule, has great prices, and, most importantly, she cuts your hair based on how YOUR hair naturally falls, how much effort you want, and what your personal style is.
She is a rare treat in the land of personal styling. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Jessica was recommended to me by a friend and I could not be more thankful for the referral. I’ve been going for highlights and cuts and I’ve never had more compliments on my hair in my life. Random strangers approach me on the street. to tell me how great the highlights or cut look.
Now, you would think I would be paying a fortune for this, but Jess is SO reasonable with pricing. I’ve never walked out for more than $ 120 and I have super, super thick, long hair.
The place is cozy and personalized, but by no means fancy, so if you require a «spa-​like» atmosphere, this place might not be for you. Jess is laid back and can carry on a conversation, but you never feel like you have to make small talk if you don’t want to.
She books pretty quickly so call ahead at least a week.

The best hairdresser in the city, in my opinion. I have been having my hair done by Jessica for 6 years, and followed her from salons to now her own place. Jessica’s service ROCKS! She does my color, cuts, she did my wedding and wedding party hair, and fun going out styles, as well as unique creations, dreadlocks, styled wigs, etc. Jessica is a master at what she does! Service is great, The salon is beautiful! Highly recommend!

Jess came from Soak Salon on West Gray when they shut down; she now has her own place, conveniently located behind Armadillo Palace @ Kirby. I go to her for cuts and color and she’s fantastic, and moderately priced.
