Love the food, especially the kibbeh bi Laban(kibbeh in yogurt sauce) on Wednesdays, rice, hummus, and salad. My husband typically orders a half chicken with rice/hummus/potatoes — also tasty. They have decent Shawerma and Arabic desserts. Atmosphere is nice and quiet and the line/wait for food is never too long. All of the employees are nice and amenable. My only complaint is that the owner, Samir, is kind of an ass.

Wow! The food was on point. I loved the taste of the hummus, shawarma, and tabouli. Everything as fresh and inexpensive. I will be back to try other dishes. The staff was very friendly.

I cannot believe I have not reviewed Shawarma King before now. I have been eating here for over ten years. My wife being Syrian(grew up there) we searched for great Middle Eastern food and when we found Sam and Shawarma King, we found a new home. They have the best Shawarma in Houston. For what we in the US think of as staple Middle Eastern food, hummus, tabouleh, baba ganoush, etc. they have the absolute best. Their falafel rocks the house and the people here are wonderful. Frankly, having eaten this food all over the world, I am grateful they are in Houston. If you take the time to sit there and eat, you will quickly realize there are people from all over the world who come to eat. Not just people from the Mid East, but there are a lot of them as well. When I see this diverse customer base, I believe it can mean only one thing: if you are not eating here, you are missing out. Put it on your bucket list please. Also, if you want to impress friends or colleagues, they can handle large orders if you give them reasonable notice. We have had multiple parties where we ordered ahead, picked up the food, and served it to as many as 25 guests. They NEVER disappoint. Shukran Habibi

This place wasn’t bad including the prices but it’s rather tucked away — making it a little hard to find. But otherwise the food was good and the prices are good. Thumbs up to this place. Keep up the good work.

Great price $ 17 for 5 vegetable plate and beef Shawarma wrap. Flavorful and fresh. Parking takes time because the lot is small. Veggie plate had tabouli, beets, grape leaves dolma, eggplant and cauliflower… all delicious except eggplant over cooked.

1. Cheap. 2. Taste amazing just make sure to tell them extra Garlic sauce on the shawarma. 3. I’ve eaten here for years and I’ll always come back. The workers are very nice as well.

I wish there was something positive I could say… Terrible tasting food. Not sure if that thing I ate was supposed to be a gyro or not, but instead of tzatziki they used hummus… Whaaaaa? The shawarma wasn’t even a mixture of lamb and beef, it was just beef… Odd flavored beef… We had the daily special as well. Some chick pea mixture with chicken… It literally tasted like Campbell’s chicken noodle soup. The potatoes were mediocre at best. The only thing that was somewhat okay was the dolmas, but they were on the skinny side and served cold(some people like it like that, but it’s not my cup of tea. Grew up eating them fresh out of the pot when my mom would make them… Hot is the way to go). With that said, don’t waste your money…

I have tried their Chicken and Beef Shawarma several times and also invited my friends over to this restaurant. Never got disappointed. The shawarma is so juicy and tasty. You get to choose two sides as well. I wish they also served french fries. It would be really nice to add it as side. My kids love french fries with shawarma. Also the price of shawarma platter is a bit high in my view. Other than that it is a lovely place.

I’ve been a handful of times and it’s a decent middle eastern restaurant in the hillcroft area. I’ve only tried their chicken shawarma and it’s very good. Decent price and very flavorful. The layout is a bit weird but the restaurant is a bit small so they have to. I think they have really good shawarma in the Houston area. I really need to try some other food in their menu.

I used to come here when I used to go to grad sch 2003. It was a lot of food for the buck, but it was always delicious. Now this place is a mess and your orders will be missing stuff doublecheck before you leave

Horrid place. The layout is lousy. You cannot easily & comfortably get to the restroom or order. It makes things worse because thee bussers are also trying to get through the same two foot wide space. I had the mixed grill plate & threw away most of the food. The beef was dry & the chicken was even drier. The fried cauliflower was cold. The rice was good & the lady fingers were great. If you are handicapped, don’t bother going here. You cannot get a wheelchair into the place & can’t move around with a walker. One of my friends came in with her service dog — an Italian greyhound. She was told several times to leave — between being repeatedly bumped by the busser, clattering plates, three different people yelling at her & her dog screaming in panic, she never got to explain well that he was a service animal. For those who don’t know, it is against federal law to deny service. It is also against Texas state law with the person denying service facing jail time & the business being fined. Look it up, Schwarma King & be glad the police weren’t called — only because we were too tired from travelling & being a convention vendor to deal with it.

A few friends hyped this place up for me, and I’m glad I checked it out. Their chicken shawarma sandwich was very good compared to some of the other places I’ve been. The play by play, you ask? Started out a little disappointing, and with each bite, it got better and better to the point in which I was picking at the wrapper with my hands. Thumbs up. Verdict? Worth checking out. I don’t know if I would recommend driving 10 miles for it, but if you do, you won’t be let down. Seating is spread out, and there’s an outdoor option. Food is cheap… $ 5 – 6 for a delicious sandwich? Sold! Service is friendly and awesome. Parking is so-so. A lot depends on when you go… Thursday night? No problem!

Love this place for what it is. Chicken & beef shawarma sandwich(4⁄5) Usually that’s all I order and I’m out. It’s one of my top go-to spots for shawarma sandwiches in Houston. The price jumped high though(rightfully so). Used to only be about $ 5, think it’s $ 8 – 9 now. Short story: Was praying over my food as I dined in one day. Looked up to find the owner of Shawarma King watching the entire time I prayed. He said, «Respect. I respect that so much, because I don’t ever see people do that these days.» He hooked us up with a few baklavas on the house. The sweetest thing. Ever since, I’m a faithful customer. Always have the kindest service here, and I love the family vibe they have as they run the restaurant. Love downing the sandwich with a bottle of coca-cola! Parking can be troublesome, it’s a tight lot. Indoor & outdoor seating options are nice.

David and I came here a very long time ago and was very disappointed. At that time, it was right after I had my taste of shawarma’s at an amazing place in Canada and we were on the hunt for good shawarma’s in Houston. Unfortunately at that first visit, we came late at night where the meat wasn’t even on the spit. So it was not a good experience. This time was much better. Tender meat, asked for extra garlic sauce. Still not up to par with Canada, but good enough =) Service was great, very attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back.

Pretty ah-mazing chicken kabobs!!! The hummus and tabouli are pretty delicious also! I went during lunch hours and the service was pretty quick and friendly. I get that the name of this place is SHAWARMA King, but their kabobs blow the shawarma outta the water! The kabobs I assume are marinated over night bc the flavour is just ridiculously yummy!!! The shawarmas are OK, I’ve had WAY better, and personally not a fan of the shawarmas meat taste. It’s pretty fattening as is any shawarma meat. You are better off getting the chicken kabob because it’s both lean and delicious! Tabouli and hummus are extremely fresh and they bring out pita bread presented on a nice plate. Prices have apparently increased over the years which is a shame, but so has minimum wage. I’ll go back fa sho!
