Silverstone Mortgage

I was a first time home buyer this past year, and was very excited about the prospect of owning my own house, and eagerly jumped in excited to learn more about the process! I was really excited to find a broker in my area with such high ratings on Zillow (as a side note, not sure who he paid to write those 5 star reviews). I called this man, who called me back fairly promptly, walked me through some numbers based on what I had for downpayment, and what I was looking to pay every month on a mortgage, he promised to walk me through the whole process, everything was exciting! Well let’s just say that was my first and last positive experience with Don Brown! I am generally the kind of person who gives a person the benefit of the doubt (everyone has a bad day); I don’t ever write a bad review, but this guy is a sleazy, lying, jerk, and if you are reading this profile wondering if this is the guy for you, walk away now! He was so noncommunicative through the entire process, my real estate agent and I would leave message after message, and sometimes we would hear back from his assistants (who were not helpful at all), and most of the time not! The few times I did talk to Don he was so rude and condescending I would hang up the phone enraged and in tears! He made multiple unauthorized charges on my credit card, and when I confronted him on it, he turned it around and made me feel like I was being uncooperative and clearly didn’t want to close on my house! In the end It cost me $ 3500 more in closing costs than what he told in the beginning, and we closed 7 weeks later than was promised (but he called me to tell me that was the fault of the builder and my real estate agent … When clearly the hold up was entirely on his end)! When I asked him to walk me through the terminology of the closing papers he said «it’s written on the paper; I don’t understand what you don’t get!» If it weren’t for an awesome real estate agent and builders who were so kind and supportive, I would have scrapped the whole thing! At the end of it, all parties involved (including this one) said they would never work with Don Brown again!
