Okay my first experience at this location went pretty good. This is a spot that I will frequent on my way from the gym as it is the only 24 hr place that is open by the time I leave the gym and it’s in route. I ordered a chicken fajita burrito and I was extremely satisfied with the portion of the burrito. Whoever made the burrito really stuffed it and I was pleased with that. I also ordered some sweet tea and I am happy to say that the tea was cold, sweet, and most importantly fresh. I will be expecting the portion size of the burrito and the freshness of the sweet tea to always be good so we shall see. The Taco Cabana that I used to go to at the north loop and Shepherd was hit or miss with terrible customer service most times and the burritos were never fully filled.

This is easily one of the worst taco cabanas that exists. The food is below average by taco cabana standards, but even worse is the service. I’ve been here three times, while not busy and placed a small simple order. Never gotten food in less than 15 minutes. The staff just doesn’t care.

They contacted me after I Tweeted about my experience. They let me know to come in and they would get me my meal again on the house so I could give it another try and also a Be Our Guest certificate. I would just have to come in and my name would be in the book. When I came in, they had no idea what I was talking about. The manager gave me a quesadilla on the house anyway. Just par for the course, this location is so disorganized. At least the quesadilla meat didn’t taste like shoe leather this time.

Had the worst experience at this location. Order a plate to go for pregnant wife. They messed up the order and didn’t give me a receipt. When we came back to change it, had the toughest time doing so because the restaurant denied evening helping us to begin with. Strange way of management. I mean my bag clearly says taco cabana on it. I showed them my credit card activity which shows the transaction and was told it isn’t the right store location. Well I looked into it and found out my credit card shows the San Antonio location. What reason do I have to fabricate something about which location I visited for a $ 5 plate. Don’t go to this location. I was truly disappointed. If you must, then ask for a receipt.

First of all, make sure you have a lot of time on your hands. Ordering something as simple as a couple of bean and cheese tacos takes 20 minutes. Staff is lazy and ignorant, forgetting people’s orders.

May I have some hot salsa and pico with our orders(3) please? Get to the office there is one tiny salsa, no pico, and worse it’s 50% water and half empty. Okay, next we open up the nachos which of course were totally soggy and a mess, but at least the meat was there and a decent amount. Next order, mine fajita tacos, open up the box to find 2 foil wrapped tortillas with exactly four scant pieces of fajita literally 2 tbsp’s of meat on each(these wouldn’t even pass for appetizers) rice was clumped together and totally flavorless, no tomatoes, no jalapenos, just lettuce all for the low price of $ 7 I got literally 4 bites of food, other order suffered a similar fate, and of course even though I hate guac there was none. So much for being generous, no salsa, no guac, no meat, a bunch of empty tortillas, clearly they’re skimping where ever they can, and just lost me and my entire office as customers. This is inexcusably poor service, plan on writing their corporate office and get some resolution on this travesty. What happened to you cabana? Seriously?

Stopped by to pick up breakfast for the office. It took 30 minutes to get a dozen breakfast tacos even though I was the only person there. While I was waiting, 8 – 10 other customers came up and immediately received their orders. It doesn’t make sense that you would have a dozen breakfast taco option if you’re just going to make the person late for work.

The new crew at taco cabana on Yale by the Walmart is a breath of fresh air. They’re friendly or more attentive and my order hasn’t been messed up yet! thank you for revamping your staff!

Slow Service — Wrong Order. The building looks nice, but the customer service here is absolutely the worst… it’s AWFUL. I ordered nachos in the drive thru and had to wait about 15 mins, which I didnt mind because they said they had to make the food fresh. But, when I recieved the order, it was chips and qeuso. The cashier was non-chalant and seemed unconcerned. The shift leader behaved as though correcting the order was a waste of her time. So I requested a refund and doubt that I will ever return to this location.

Underperforming store to say the least. Dirty floor, slow service, under staffed, and dirty filthy tables; to name a few. I was in last Sunday and ordered a steak fajita nachos and I waited close to 20 minutes. They were cold, meat was disgustingly chewy, and the queso was so runny. Honestly this is embarrassing for the store I’ve been here a few times hoping for it to be better and every time I leave disappointed never coming again even though it’s just down the street from where I live. The employees really need to communicate with each other to ensure customers are happy.

I quite enjoy Taco Cabana, especially their taquitos. This location is the closest to my house. Never really noticed it and would also go to the Upper Kirby location. This Yale location however is SOSLOW. No matter what you order it will take 15 — 30 minutes for your order to be ready. I’ve been there twice. While I was there, there was always at least one or two other people inquiring about their order because it was taking so long. Even though it is close to me, I don’t want to wait that long. If I did, I’d go to an actual Mexican restuarant, not a fast food establishment. If they can bring the wait time down, and get a few more friendly employees I’d definitely consider coming back.

OK, it’s a fast food restaurant, so expectations are generally low but this locations takes the cake for slow service and lack of competence. We walked in around 8am on a Friday morning to get a few breakfast tacos when there was some confusion up front. Finally, we heard the cashier say they were out of flour tortillas — despite the pile of dough waiting by the tortilla maker. How does a taco shop run out of tortillas? We and some other people just walked out — ended up enjoying El Rey’s breakfast tacos instead. My BF said he usually refuses to go to this location as sometimes it takes close to 30 minutes to get one order out. Sounds like they need an overhaul here.

Total staff change needed! I have never experienced such horrible service before in my life. I stop here once, maybe twice a week on my way to work. They take FOREVER to acknowledge you at the speaker box. Today I waited 5 minutes. I wasn’t greeted kindly. The woman came over the speaker and said«yes what do you need». Rude! Then her rudeness continued at the window, swiftly grabbing my debit card out of my hand, swiping it and tossing it back to me along with a grease covered paper bag of tacos. This isn’t a one time thing from an employee having a bad morning. This is EVERYTIME I go there. Ah and can’t forget the fact that they get your order wrong 99% of the time. Today was the last straw for me. Never going back.

This location is horrible. It’s now been over 30 minutes to get chips and queso. Had to get a refund after never getting my food. Only good thing was getting my full refund including drinks.

Like the other reviews this location has gotten, I must say the service here is pretty bad. When we first walked in there was no one at the counter. After several long minutes a guy finally came to the register, but he seemed a little bewildered. He ended up being the nicest person in the place. After we ordered a very grumpy woman came out and said if we wanted chicken fajitas we would have to either wait for 20 minutes or get a refund. …What? Those were our only options? We couldn’t possibly… you know… order something else? I’ve never had a food establishment(I’m not going to insult other restaurants by calling Taco Cabana a restaurant) tell me I couldn’t order from their menu because they were out of the first thing I ordered. We told the mean lady that we would have beef fajitas instead, which really pissed her off. Which slightly pissed us off. But we sat down and waited for our food. Then we noticed that even though our receipts said table #35, they had given the actual number 35 on the little stand to another table(!). There was a table across the dining room with a mother, father, and young child with the number 35 prominently displayed on their table. We had to go to the front to clear that up. THIRTYMINUTES later we got chicken fajitas. Really? And we weren’t the only ones having a frustrating experience that evening. The dining area was full of annoyed customers, repeatedly going up to the counter to ask when their«fast» food was going to be ready. In conclusion, Taco Cabana is a god among fast food Mexican cuisine(imo). I adore their soft tacos and queso. BUT this location is pretty crappy. Will I go here again? Sure, probably out of sheer desire for TC… which is why the service stays crappy. Sigh.

Good luck getting salsa or a correct order at the drive-thru. I’ve yet to have them get my order right and they NEVER give you salsa or pico even if you ask for it.

Nice, clean, new location. I was headed to a party, and needed to bring something easy and fast. No cooking for me! I ordered 3 large portions of chicken and beef fajita quesadillas. Quick and easy through the drive through. Fast and friendly service with a smile… much appreciated! I’ll be back to this location, as they have a huge outdoor patio to chill on, when I’m not in a rush.

We risked approaching the gates of Mordor — or as some call it Wal Mart — to visit Taco Cabana. This location is nice and modern. The tortilla machine inside the entry was a welcome sight, and in fact the tortillas were hot, fresh and puffy — more on that later. Layout of the space was a bit odd, with a cavernous front area for ordering, a rather narrow main dining room, an indoor/outdoor room with roll-up garage doors(which were open on the sub-50 degree day) and an outdoor patio. The salsa bar and drink station are jammed into the main dining room along with a few too many tables. It felt tight. The only television is in the indoor/outdoor room and is rather small. Mexican music blared in the main dining room. We got a ½ pound mixed fajita platter plus a large queso and chips and two drinks, and the bill was still less than $ 20. Really an amazing amount of food for the money. And it was all decent. Beef, chicken, the wonderfully puffy tortillas — they gave us 6 with the ½ pound platter that serves one or two people, rice, beans — all served piping hot, a lesson I wish our neighborhood chipotle could learn. Along with sour cream, lettuce, cheese, guacamole(the one weak link, didn’t seem authentic). Everything was tasty. We often get a similar meal at Goode Co Taqueria — it costs more than twice as much, and while it’s better, Taco Cabana is certainly the better value. My main complaint about Taco Cabana over the years is the lack of consistency. When it’s good, as it was today, it’s hard to beat.

This TC is swankyyyyyy. The clean and modern, yet rustic and latin styling of this location makes it the crown jewel of fast food joints. Of course it is clean and shiny right now since it is so new, but I have high hopes that they will maintain this level of cleanliness in this part of town for this clientele. The best part about this TC is that it’s directly on my way to work in the morning. It’s on the correct side of the road for me to just pull in the drive through and pull out in a matter of minutes. So fast that I don’t even have time to check-in with Unilocal on my phone! Literally, the first time I stopped, it took less than 2 minutes to order, pay and get my food. I placed my order and by the time I pulled around to the window, the employee(a very nice blonde woman with a cute accent) was there with my bag of food in hand. She even made sure to ask over the speaker what salsas I wanted with my order or if I wanted pico. I always forget to request condiments, so I appreciated her remembering, especially at 7 a.m. The food is on par with TC food. Fresher and(for the most part) healthier than other fast food, but still one of the cheaper fast food joints out there. The location and the speedy service will keep me coming back.
