Was looking forward to trying this place based on the great reviews but I am sad to report that this place is a no –no for me! Food is horrible, I have had better. Margaritas are way too sweet. Feels like you are drinking frozen lemonade. Would I go back? Probably not!

Maybe the worst Mexican I’ve ever experienced. The nachos(velvetta cheese) were so distasteful, we had to return them. I had the Carnitas, it was disgusting, but after the nachos return, I was tempting fate. My wife had the fish… fried but bland. We had Margueritas, absolutely just lime juice and simple syrup, no Tequila, no Triple Sec… it was inexpensive at $ 32, but we went home, fed the To-go food to the dog and agreed NEVER again. The hiring policy seemed to be based on sexual orientation, not on ability(service stunk). as everybody was very pleasent, just not good/attentive service… I really don’t often give brutal reviews, but this one deserves it.

You can never go wrong with this place. The food is amazing… Authentic Mexican food. I’ve probably tried something of each category and it’s all delicious… The Caldo de Rez is perfect when you are sick it’ll fix you right up. Just like mom would… Breakfast tacos have to be the best I’ve had in any Mexican restaurant… The tortillas are homemade and any combination with scrambled eggs are great. The margaritas aren’t so great but the micheladas are my favorite in all the city… Service is good. It does get packed but you will still find a table… Great family place

Consistently delicious food, friendly service, and reasonable prices. This is our«Welcome Home» tex-mex stop when my fiancé and I have been traveling and need a fix. Try the bistec a la mexicano! We’ll miss you when we move to Colorado!

Horrible food, everyone in the party said extremely salty. If you’re a smoker(burned out taste buds), this is probably your kind of place. Started eating at this one back around 83 or 84 before they moved across the street. They’ve gone way down hill, won’t be going back.

I may be over rating this place because it has been so long since I had good authentic Mexican food. It was delicious! I ordered the Pollo Mexica, a delightful dish if grilled chicken, green and red peppers, onion, jalapeños, cilantro and melted cheese on a huge platter with beans, rice, pick and guacamole. It hit the spot, especially with the homemade flour tortillas. Service was excellent and price was really good. Can’t wait to come back!

Pretty good & authentic tex-mex menu. We like this place because it’s less expensive than the several others in this area. The happy hour Rita’s are great too!

I have been here several times since moving to The Heights 9 months ago. I can say that I have never had a bad meal here. The daily specials are great and the Horchata is the best I’ve had. The wait staff can be a little slow at times but always friendly.

Great mexican food. The servings are too big, I can never eat more than half the plate in one sitting(Im big guy than can eat alot) and the waiter refuses to sell half an order.

All I can say was we walked in and walked right back out. Thought it was a good Mexican place to go eat at but was not liking it’s appearance. Like another review said, of all the Mexican restaurants around this area you won’t miss eating at this one.

OMG… the best lemonade ever!!! I can go through several 32 oz cups. LOL… The food is really good but be prepared that you will be super full for such little amount of money. The service is great and people are super nice.

I love there caldo de pollo here. I had been in past years and you had the option to choose a cup or bowl. When I went last time, they had a medium size bowl. Not enough chicken in my opinion. I also ordered a lemonade and it was good. It came out to be $ 11! I don’t know how — soup and lemonade? Crazy. Maybe I’ll just opt for water? I’m not sure how much the lemonade cost but next time I will inquire. Or maybe it was the soup. Also, be prepared to speak Spanish here. I had been in the past and have been able to speak English, but the lady didn’t want to budge with speaking english so I was able to order in Spanish. P. S. I’ve had their breakfast here and it isn’t that great. I would go to Spanish Flowers across the street instead if you want breakfast.

I’ve tried this place a few times and have yet been able to finish my meal. Too many good mexican restaurants in this area to bother with this one. Go get some hand made tortillas at Teo and meat that is cooked properly. Or El Taquito Rico if you’re on the go(soooo good). Even spanish flower has better offerings than this place. Just terrible. Huevos rancheros on my plate this cold morning. Service was quick — my tortillas were forgotten at first but quickly rectified. The waitress spoke to us in Spanish but understood all English orders(I engaged her in Spanish but my lady is very ‘OMGANTISPEAKINGSPANISH’). The food was good — very ranchero-y. My girl ordered some breakfast tacos that she ate before the plates hit the table. Food hubris. The shining star here are the prices. The meal was 9 $. Like really? I didn’t know how much to tip — I felt bad leaving a dollar and change(20%) so left a few extra dollars. Its cheap. Its fast. Its tasty. Go for your Mexican fix.

Wow! Amazing food for amazing price: $-$$. There were 6 of us in our party; we were served with lots of chips and salsa — I tasted cilantro and lime in those crispy chips! Not too oily or salty(the worse chips are on those mainstream franchises that are soggy and sopped with oil). I had the Totas Pollo Fajitas(about 6.99) and Horchata(30 oz cup! I think about $ 3). The Totas was on a toasted oblong shaped bread. Soft and easy to bite through — too much bread for me but it’s most likely just my own personal preference. The meat itself was not over cooked but it really needed more flavor — I rarely add salt or their«green sauce» to foods but this one was kinda dry. Total price with 18% tip, about $ 12. Oh did I mention«green sauce?» Get it! I don’t know what was in it – I think jalapeños with mashed pickles or something like that. It wasn’t too spicy — added mug needed moisture to my Tostas. Horchata was sooo delicious — it’s made of rice milk and is house made; not those powdered drinks. I could just swim in that! Haha! I was sooo full and so satisfied I had a food coma afterwards. My friends and I were soooo satisfied, however, one friend who goes to another franchise like this mentioned that this particular restaurant had a completely different menu options with their meats. Side note: a friend and I took a 20 min nap and went to the gym afterwards just because we did not want to be sleepy the entire day. It was too much cabs for me but it was sooo worth it! We’ll go to the other one just to compare. This is a nice place since it’s authentic :-)

Slightly charred, tender, thin morsels of al pastor were cradled in a warm corn tortilla. Raw white onions and cilantro leaves were sparsed over the taco. A little taco masterpiece made its way to my table. I took a bite, and I agreed with previous reviewers and Sergio S. that Tepatitlan has great al pastor tacos. My bites were occassionally surprised with the sweet/tart flavor that comes from pineapple. Rest assured, the pineapple was minor flavor that combined very well with the al pastor. Mother bear, aka Mom, ordered a t-bone steak with eggs for her breakfast. It was well seasoned, welldone, and well— delicious. My only gribe about the t-bone was its thickness. It was as thick as a cellphone(¼ inch thick), making it look rather than. Then again for the price, I shouldn’t really object to the portion size. My waiter was friendly and fast for the most part, which made our dining experience pleasant too. What really blew me away was the craftsmanship and colors of the tables and chairs. It typical Hispanic fashion, the colors were bold and bright in shades of green, blue, orange, and yellow. It adds a nice festive touch year round to be seated in such a colorful scene. 4 Star Rating Breakdown: 1 for Service: Fast and Friendly 1 for Food: The al pastor taco is awesome. 1 for Ambiance: Unique & Colorful 1 for Price: Cheap to Average For the al pastor tacos, I’m like Schwarzenegger — -«Al-be-back!»
