Unbelievably bad experience. First, the food was flat out not good. The server was nice but I think it’s pretty hard to mess up an order of wings and fries. Well they did. Then to make it worse they refused to play the sound from game 2 of the NBA Finals. We politely asked, as 2 of the 8 patrons in the place on a Wednesday night, they changed to a different channel with no game, asked again and they turned on the radio to spite us. Manager was obviously a jerk. I didn’t believe the bad reviews this place has before I went and went anyway. Wrong decision. Go to Christian’s up the street.

I’ll keep this short. I’m not a big fan of their regular menu. Their service is not all that great. I will say that their breakfast taco bar in the mornings is good. I usually get bean, egg and cheese on corn. I keep it really simple, people. There are a lot of options for your breakfast tacos.

Service was ok, if you come in a large group, they don’t split checks(we got lucky we came with someone who used to work there, so they split it for us). Only reason we came was because we were coming for dinner for a wedding party. Food wasn’t bad. I wouldn’t come here by myself or suggest it to anyone, but in an event like this, I’m not totally opposed to it either. If I could give this place 2.5, I would. But 2 will do lol.

This place needs help. Walked in and sign said seat yourself. Problem is no one is keeping tabs on who’s new to the place. Sat down at a pub table and waited. Bar tender was busy. Two guys at the other entrance from the mall side were standing around talking. Waited some more. Watched bar tender keep real busy trying to take care of orders. One of the door guys started to come over after a bit, but it was to let bar tender know I needed to be waited on. He told the guy to get me a menu. Sad thing was the place wasn’t busy at all. 80%of the tables were empty. Menu isn’t what I expected, since the place is advertised as Tex Mex. It really is a burgers and beer place. I was in the mood for Tex Mex so I settled on the fajita nachos. I asked for no guacamole. Guess what showed up, guacamole. Cheese on the plate had hardened which told me the plate had sat a while after it was prepared. There was a cube of grilled meat on each tortilla chip. The outer piece of meat was slightly burned. I’m guessing to give it that grilled taste. Unfortunately, most of the tortilla chips were burned also. Other ingredient was refried beans on third to half the chip. A dollop of sour cream atop some finely cut lettuce and a little Pico degio finished off the plate. This was an appetizer that I had as a meal. Only had one beer because no one ever came by to see if I wanted another while eating. The waiter was nice but as I stated there place needs help. Definitely wouldn’t recommend going here as food want that great and service was poor. Not to mention if you’re looking for Tex Mex it’s only on the sign.

Food was ok. Ordered buffalo wings but they were Coke and tasted like BBQ. Margaritas are super good, service is kinda slow.

My coworkers and I attended this restaurant because it was near our conference and we wanted to find a good happy hour. We were extremely unsatisfied with the food and service as a whole. We entered an empty restaurant and had to wait 2 minutes before someone came to seat us. The waitress, who was also the bartender, was extremely rude. It took her forever to bring the drinks, chips, and salsa. When I received my guacamole it was NOT seasoned at all. When I asked her for some lime or something to season the guac she brought me 4 limes on a napkin that she threw on the table and walked off. The quesadillas looked like the quesadillas from Taco Bell and the $ 17 appetizer, Tejas Scorpions were awful. By the way it was $ 17 for 4 shrimp!!! When we asked the waitress to split the tickets, she responded, Why???” Totally ridiculous… I DONOT recommend!!!

I work at night downtown and I come here about once or twice every couple weeks. I dred coming here sometimes because the service is sooooo bad. With only half the tables used, I waited 15 minutes just to get someone to ask what I wanted to drink. They only had 3 people working in this place. They do that all the time and I can’t understand how this place is still open. People were walking out it was so bad.

Tejas Grill has a number of things going for it, including its large and varied menu, relative affordability for downtown, location(it connects to the tunnels, so you can still reach it if it is raining), and availability(I have never had to wait for a seat here). As such, I dine here with some frequency. The food itself, however, is fairly average, as is the service. Nevertheless, when I want a quick and easy sit-down lunch downtown, I will often dine here.

Not very impressed. We had to wait over 30 minutes for our food. While we were waiting we had to fill our own drinks several times, get our own silverware, and ask a hostess if we could get more chips and salsa. All of this because our server had not been seen for 15 minutes. The food was decent. When we went to pay the server had placed a 20% gratuity on the check for a party of 6. Which is not supposed to be done.

Took over 15 minutes just to get a menu and waiter to come over to table. Very slow service and food is very average. Should be a lot better with the location in downtown. Chips and salsa. Average. Chips were way to greasy! Chicken fried steak was greasy and no flavor. Pastor Tacos were ok. Nothing special like meat very tender. Manager was no where in site. Place was packed and had two waiters. I wouldn’t come back here ever.

Good food and fast service! This is the second time I have ate here on the Huston trip. Service was good the veggie burger is really good and the second time I just had potato soup and a caesar salad, both of which were good and filling. The ambiance is a bit loud, but it is a «sports bar» with a great selection of adult beverages. All-in-all its worth a stop for lunch or dinner and prices are decent.

Sitting at bar currently and 15 minutes later«what do you want»?? After ordering an adult beverage I was told that I would have to give bartender a few minutes to order chips and salsa… Horrible service.

Been here twice, and the only thing decent are the chips and dip. Fajita salad was OK, but their burgers are horrendous. First, the bun is squishy and has no «bounce back». I guess I could describe it as slightly more dense than white sandwich bread. The burger meat had no flavor whatsoever. There are 100 better places to get a mushroom swiss burger, but at twelve bucks a pop, it’s an absolute crime to charge so much for something so horrible.(I guess it serves me right for being the idiot who orders a burger at a tex-mex joint). I sampled the Beef fajita nachos, and thought they were just so-so. Caution: the the fajita beef wasn’t tender at all. Tejas Grill’s got a really convenient location, but I’d recommend spending 2 more minutes walking upstairs to the shops or down to the tunnels, and your tastebuds(as well as your wallet) will appreciate it.

I hate being negative, but having a poor experience makes it easy. Mediocre — at best. The service was poor — at best; the plate presentation was lacking — at best; taste was dull and limited — at best; the mushy bun was awful — at best. The cold chips to start the meal were disappointing. Overall — just blah. The best part of the meal were the fries — they were pretty good — not great!

Sweet and simple: Slow service, mediocre food, and appetizers are fitting for a night of football game or soccer match-watching. It’s close to various business offices, so gathering here for a team dinner may be convenient. Otherwise, I wouldn’t call Tejas your ideal place for socializing or dining.

Nice place. Service ok but not great. I got the seared tuna steak salad for lunch. It was ok. Tuna seasoned well but $ 17 for a salad is steep. Go ahead and pass on this place.

I showed up for lunch in a pinch. The bartender was a bit busy and did not pay much attention to myself or the nearby customer. Our waters ran low, not good when you are thirsty, reason being I ordered the Pablano soup, and Fajita salad. The soup is worth returning for, very tasty and good flavors in it. Not spicy but warm and hot as it was a cold day. The fajita meet was tender and tasty also, but you can’t really mess up greens if you do the meat correctly. No harm or foul on the bartenders part, he was just really busy that day. A bit pricey for the whole thing, but good food and experience overall. Not ideal for lunch but good in a pinch.

Here are my ups and downs with this place: Ups: 1) Sit down service: It’s one of the few places in DT Houston you can sit down and be served without first having to stand in a line and order at a reasonable price during the mad lunch hour rush, 2) It’s, I think, the only TRUE sports bar in Downtown: After the lunch hour crowd is gone, or on a weekend and want to catch a game in a real sports bar environment this is it. 3) It’s much bigger inside than you’d think, but can be cozy: Big bar and big restaurant area, But, when the lunch time crowds clear the bar area does feel like a sports bar. Some downsides: 1) It’s a sports bar. They serve sports bar food.: The burgers were OK. The fries were OK(probably frozen and reheated — but OK). 2) Plan to take your time at lunch: There’s a reason most reasonably priced restaurants make you stand in line to order Downtown — the overwhelming lunch hour: Service was slow then, But — outside of that is pretty speedy and helpful. Bottom Line: This isn’t a destination place. It is a place to go when you are downtown for a game or event and want a true sports bar atmosphere(and food).
