The Downtown Club located on W. Dallas and Caroline St. is a great establishment. I first joined after finding out exactly what it was that was located on top on the Allen Center parking garage. The gym is great! Not too crowded. My wife loves the classes there and they have personal trainers that can help you meet all of your goals. They also have the largest facility of indoor tennis courts in Houston. The tennis community is great there! All levels of experience and a wonderful«starter» program for new members as part of your on-boarding. Lastly, the food at the Center Club is great! Chef Julio has been with them for years and never ceases to impress. His knowledge is fast and he has a great knack for pairing with wine and special occasions. Some friends of mine were married there and the food/service were great! Can’t say enough good things about my experience with the club and excited to see what is ahead.

I really like the fact that this place has a great view. The setup is little crowded but nice. Tables are wide and chairs are really comfortable. Onto the food; I went there with my bosses and co-workers, for a total of six people, and we all felt quite comfortable. The food was great. This is sort of an upscale buffet. The duck was delicious(according to my co-worker), the salmon was delicious(according to my other co-worker), the pork chops were delicious(according to my boss), the chicken was delicious(according to me). Yes, I had the blackened chicken-it was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The sides were awesome, creamy sour kraut, devil eggs, asparagus, mashed potatoes, risotto, wild rice, all of which were really good. The salad bar looked good but I did not even bothered. I was too busy with the good stuff. Potato soup, so-so. Desserts: I had the mango crème brulee and I was not impressed, but the butterscotch cake and bread pudding were delicious(according to the mates) Note: You gotta go to the 37th floor and switch elevators to the 39th floor but it is worth it! Note II: My boss picked up the tab since he is a member so I really don’t know the amount on the check… sorry about that.

I am not sure how useful this will be to other Unilocalers as this is a membership club, but one can bring guests, so here goes. We love the food and views at The Plaza Club at One Shell, they have an awesome lunch buffet and the food is always yummy. The Club has various venues where one can join a wine tasting club, book club, work-out etc. I have just read the latest e– newsletter and wondered if anyone would care to join me for a ‘Yoga Facial Toning Series with Nancy ‘? Six weeks at the bargain price of $ 300 for non-members, $ 250 for members. $ 50.00 a pop to tell you how to move the muscles in your face, I wonder if that includes the tricky yet satisfying ‘tongue in Cheek’ maneuver?
