Service is difficult at best once the tables begin to fill. Half the food on St. Patrick’s day was brought in by outside caterer and you have to pay cash at your table for it. Food was OK but was supposed to be Irish and tasted Mexican. Didn’t even have Irish beers(or English) on hand in a British pub. Won’t be back.

Having driven by Kings Head several times, as it is located very close to my temporary abode in west Houston, my palate developed a yearning for some fish & chips accompanied by a nice Guinness Stout. So, on a recent Friday evening, my palate and I wandered into the Kings Head. I was immediately struck by the ambience. This pub is nicely done, with the classic pub feel and lively atmosphere. The patrons were a nice mix of young and old(er) professionals, most in pairs or small groups, and all appeared to be having a good time. Taking my seat at the bar, I perused the ample selection of beers on tap and opted for my preselected Guinness. It hit the spot. Next I turned my attention to the menu, and this is where my visit turned from pleasantly surprised to quite disappointed. The menu offers a very limited selection and almost no traditional pub fare. Choices are limited to a small selection of appetizers, hotdogs topped in a variety of ways, and pizza topped according to your personal preference. No fish & chips. No shepherd’s pie. Nada. I briefly considered finishing my Guinness and heading out to another spot, but being new to the area and quite hungry, I decided to suck it up and ordered a hotdog topped with sauerkraut and brown mustard, hold the onions. It was fine, but certainly not what I came for. I’ve pondered writing this review and struggled with the rating. I finally settled on three stars. What they do, they do well. But the absence of pub fare with a name like Kings Head Pub is a huge negative for me. I’m sure they have their reasons, but for me, the experience was A-OK. If I ever find my palate screaming for a dog, I may return. Until then I look forward to exploring other alternatives in the area.

I’ve been here several times since I’ve heard about it two years ago. Very cozy and chill bar with welcoming bartenders and staff. Food menu does not have much selection but, I always order the same thing: Pepperoni pizza and hummus and it always comes out good. Consistent in quality. The beer selection here is why I like this place! Seasonal St. Arnold’s and Bishop Barrel always seem to be in stock. They also have a bunch of beers from microbreweries on tap. Friendly people, good beer, darts in the back. Overall great place!

A British style neighborhood pub with an excellent selection of beers on tap. Older crowd, mainly local professionals. Casual friendly staff, outdoor covered patio and pub games. Good choice for relaxing conversation and a decent beer selection of local and craft beer on tap.

Nice bar, good pub like environment. The staff were friendly and drinks were quick. I went on Thursday night and it was not too crowded while I was there(7:00p-9:00p). They have darts, pool with tables inside and out, nice layout also with two closed rooms for parties. I did not get to try any food, but should soon since my girl moved around the corner.

The cider has a weird aftertaste. The food is cheap and low quality for prices that are higher than average. I would not visit this establishment again.

I play backgammon here one Saturday a month when the Houston club has its small tournament. It’s pretty good. Decent selection of beer, staff are friendly. The menu is pretty limited, but the new flatbread pizza is an improvement. Would drop by for steak night if I lived on this side of town, but for now I only venture west for the occasional backgammon match-up.

This place was pretty cool and the female bartender was very very nice… it wasn’t very busy on this particular night so we got to chat a bit with her and talk about music… she recommended a pretzel with mustard and it was actually pretty good… glad I found this place… I would definitely go back… the décor was very charming and I enjoyed looking at the cool things they have hanging on the walls and the ceiling

This was a great find. I stumbled in here after eating dinner at Kim Son next door. The bartenders are very friendly and make you feel right at home. Their trivia night is a lot of fun and they have a pretty good little crowd. This is my new go to spot when I want a casual pub atmosphere.

Okidoki! It has a good energy in there, clean, comfortable seating, very British pub looking inside. It has darts if you like that. Hit or miss on the drinks. Beer, excellent selection and the tap is cold! Important to get cold beer in this damn weather… ehhhh 107 on my car outside temp. There are a few wait people that know good drinks, and I got some excellent suggestions that were really good during happy hour… you should only drink one! Second visit, with a friend, and the waitress did not know anything about drinks. She was nice, attentive, polite, but did not know shit about drinks. So I say, Ask the bartender… and the bartender suggests something like a screwdriver! Comeon! Make me a light, tasty, summer cocktail… surprise me. Sent back the suggestion and ended up getting a beer. Anyway, one time I drank too much, cause the bartender made me these wonderful summer lemony citrus tasting drinks — thank GOD for UBER! Another visit, the wait and bar peeps were not big on suggestions, seems they were too busy bullshitting with some idiot sitting at the bar. It happens, every bar has a dummy sitting at the bar. I drank two pints of beer, which were COLDCOLD and I did in fact enjoy them. I tried a new beer flavored like rootbeer, which was wonderful… just not a rootbeer fan. They were one of the first to get this beer on tap. If you like rootbeer, you would love this stuff. They don’t really have food, just hotdogs. They do sell this pastry wrapped dog that comes out with mustard… and this was good stuff. Tasty bar finger food! Wednesday nights are steak night, cash only, $ 16 bucks, and this couple serves up a big olé steak, potato and salad… DAMN…enough for a full meal, and leftovers for two more meals. Get a beer, get the steak to go, and enjoy! WOW. Well, I am heading over there to watch some football this weekend. Not soccer, but great olé American NFL football. Let’s see how the crowd is… make me a believer! Cheer!

Very cozy place. Great service. Their steaks and tamales are very good. The steak is very well seasoned, chewy and cooked as you ordered.

This is not a roudy bar. It’s a old people bar. Calm and quiet. But I like it. I like the fact that I don’t have to scream the drink I want to the bartender. And they get my drink right. Most importantly free darts and free popcorn! Salty popcorn mmmmm with beer. I totally lost at the dart game. Bathroom is clean for a bar. I also like that its smoke-free and dog friendly. They have 29 bottle selection and 33 draft selection. I heard they have a food menu, but I ate before I came here so I can’t comment on the food.

I really want to like this place — it’s close to the house, plenty of taps, and it has a great«executive» feel, with the private rooms… but I just can’t. The staff is light on the conversation, unless it’s amongst themselves, and that’s something I look for in a pub. The food is a definite pass — if I order another soft(raw) pretzel, please kick me. Best part? I offered to buy the bartender a beer — he took me up on the offer(cool!). His choice? A $ 10.50 limited release beer. That’s the best way I can sum this place up.

Boring might be the best word to describe this place. I was there on a late Saturday night and it was dead. There was one other group there besides us and that was it for the evening. The food menu was pretty limited and when I asked how the staff liked their food, they responded that it all came in cans that they heat up and pour out. Eeeew. I’m sure plenty of bars do this, but I don’t want to know that when I’m about to order. I ended up getting the Frito pie and it was marginal. I’ve had better but I’ve had worse. The atmosphere is pleasant. It’s suppose to be a British pub. The thing that my friend and I were both amazed at was the bathroom. It is massive, decorated amazingly well, and spotlessly clean. This place is worth going to just for the bathroom alone! All in all, I wouldn’t come here again on my own but it certainly wasn’t a terrible experience by any means.

My rating reflects how I felt about this place…“Meh”. It had the look and feel of an English pub but somethings were missing and it really made this bar a loser when it has such potential. I came here with some friends because they lived nearby and wanted to try this place in the hopes that it would be their new neighborhood bar. The bar looks new, clean and definitely has that«English Pub» feel, but the place was basically empty. For a nice, new place like this I was incredibly surprised by this. It’s in an up and coming neighborhood, so this place should be packed considering it’s location and the local demographic. The beer selection was what I expected for a place like this. It had good English beers and imports, as well as, local and graft beers. It has a nice stock of Bishop’s Barrel #8, which was nice since that beer can be difficult to find. My girlfriend ordered the Frito pie and it was pretty bland. Nothing about it seemed fresh and it was pretty clear that the chili was straight from the can. Plus the chili had beans in it which is just wrong. I think this place has potential, but it seems like there may be a lack of a manager or GM to hold this place to a higher standard. If I had to nokinate a bar for Bar Rescue, this place would be it.

Kings Head is an English Pub located on Eldridge in the energy district. The interior is nice, well laid out, feels like you’re in England I suppose. They have about 15 – 20 draft /craft beer selections and a full bar. Craft beer rotates so its sometimes a hit and miss on craft beers. Two dart boards are present and they offer complimentary popcorn to keep you thirsty. Party rooms are available for meetings or small events. There is an outdoor covered patio. They do serve food, have steak nights, food is cooked on a grill outside. Staff is usually friendly, no thrills type. Crowd is professionals mostly to neighborhood residents. Good place to go solo or with a small group before heading out somewhere more interesting. I think this is more of a 30+ type place and not a place for the younger crowds. The craft beer selection has been decent. I’ll find one or two craft beers worth trying at any given time. They do have a cask which has been mostly a miss in 2014. The food is actually not bad IMO. I find the pizza to be decent, esp when they have the $ 5 deal going. Had friends do the steak and were ok with it. If you keep in mind this is a drink first eat second place, you will be ok.

Nice pub with a good selection of beer. A bit expensive to pay more than 5 Dollar for a pint. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere seemed nice. Not a lot of people there, when we came So we might check again, when some games are going on. It was Friday so we tried the steak and baked potato. It was very good. Necxt time we go with friends it will at one of the days when the grill is on. I read a couple of reviews before, so here something for Michelle, who answered all. These are no answers related to the reviews. The reviews are written personally, The answer is a standard copy + paste general thing. No one deserves that, if he writes a review. So either do not respond or write also a personal one. It nearly hold me back to join the pub. Glad I pushed it as non important thing aside and enjoyed the pub.

I would consider myself an «almost» regular here. This is our«go to» neighborhood bar. Staff is very friendly. I like this place because I will often get there an hour or so before my fiancé arrives and I never worry about being harassed by the men. I’ve come after work, late night, afternoons, and for sporting events and have had a great time, every time. Patios are dog friendly. Only complaint is that the regular food menu is quite basic. But the allow you to bring in a sandwich or burger from next door. On Thurs through Sunday there is a 3rd party guy who offers a menu and will make the food on the grill outside. Initially the food was excellent and we would plan to eat dinner there. Lately, it’s been meh, but that may only be because I know he initially set the bar pretty high.

Nice chill bar, mixed crowd, new dart boards, good selection of beer, and decent prices. The pepporoni pizza I ordered was fresh and tasted good. I think they have someone that comes and grills every Thursday right outside of the bar. When I went, the lady was grilling burgers with sides of cole slaw and fries. I wasn’t really in the mood for a burger but I’ll have to come back and see what she has next time. Thumbs Down: Parking spaces or super tiny. Kind of defeats the purpose because you’ll see that most cars will take up two parking spaces. Also, the waitress was not very friendly. When I checked on my pizza she said«It’ll be ready when it’s ready.» — Umm… ok.
