This bar is chill and neat place to meet up with your friends. The Happy Hour here is pretty good. Only con is the parking. The lot is small and limited.

This place is dope. Like most of my favorite bars, it’s not overwhelming in size and has both an indoor and outdoor area. There is a strong«community bar» feel which can either be welcoming or make you feel like you’ve been missing out. There’s a popcorn machine, there’s darts, there’s corn hole, and giant jenga. A mini carnival in a bar you might say. Something cool: you can order from Bollo across the street and they’ll deliver your food to the bar so you don’t have to waste beer drinking time.

This is a really cool bar with great outdoor seating in a fantastic location. This is only 1.5 miles from my home so it’s very convenient, drinks are decent and the bartenders are fast and friendly. I typically stop by after having dinner across the street at Bollo many nights and it’s a great way to end your evening. They also have seating and televisions so it’s also a good bar to watch sports as well.

I stopped by Owl Bar for a few drinks with my friends on a Thursday evening. My friends were sitting at the bar, so we pulled up a few chairs and joined them. There weren’t very many people at the bar on this particular evening, so we were able to order our drinks instantly. I honestly don’t have a detailed review of Owl Bar, because I was so engaged in our conversation, but it was a nice place to have a chill evening with friends. The service was good, it’s in a nice location, the music was on point and the restrooms were clean. They do not serve food, but you can bring in pizza from the restaurant across the street. Also, parking is very limited, so be prepared to valet or walk if you do not arrive early. On my next visit, I will definitely take advantage of the patio.

Relatively generous parking lot. Lots of seating outside and maybe inside too and has good working heat lamps. Strong drinks. Weird schizophrenic music selections on a Saturday night. I guess it did kind of feel like being at Bar 96 on Rainey Street in Austin?

Pretty cool venue. There’s not much in terms of seating on the inside but there’s a nice outdoor patio that would work great during the spring and summer. The bartender was nice and they make a pretty good Moscow Mule!

Awesome patio. Good music. Staff is super friendly. It gets pretty busy weekend nights. Lots of beautiful women, that’s for sure

OK bar. Indoor section is alittle small, plenty of outdoor seating. Standard bar prices for the booze, no more no less. Went on a Saturday night and there was a decent sized crowd. Took alittle longer than I would have liked to order a drink, even though I was standing right in front of the bartender. Oh, and the parking situation is terrible. Not only do they have a few spots, but it’s incredibly small. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if accidents happen all the time back there.

A friend and I stopped by this bar because we saw it on our way to the Greek festival. It’s patio had a chill vibe that was inviting, so we decided to check it out. I think I can speak for everyone when I say the weather this weekend was AMAZING. Hence, all the people flocked outside. The seating is plentiful, from long cushion benches to tables but as you can imagine, fills up rather quickly. Our first round consisted of mules– Kentucky and Moscow, $ 10 each. They were tasty. Our second was a beer, a honey pilsner which was good, and this cocktail my friend got that tasted like ginseng. Although it didn’t fit my taste, I’m sure my asian ancestors would approve. You can’t forget the free POPCORN. There’s a popcorn machine next to the bar with a plethora of different seasonings you can sprinkle on. There’s something wrong with the jalapeño cheddar– stay away from it if you don’t want a coughing fit. We thought someone put it there for pranking purposes. It’s like powdered wasabi. Besides that, what a pleasant surprise to nibble on some popcorn! The parking lot behind the Owl is very small, but you can also park across the street at Bollo, since no one serves pizza at 12am(a shame).

This bar was disappointing all the way around. I was there 9÷30÷2015 neither of the bartenders were attentive at all. The food was okay… just okay; however the one thing I actually wanted, the orzo salad I was told would take 45 mins. to make. Not sure how that’s possible but okay. My ticket came out to be 26 dollars and I left a 2 dollar tip only to find out later that someone took it upon herself(one of the two female bartenders) to make it an 8 dollar tip. In the grand scheme of life 8 bucks isn’t that big of a deal, but you know what it is. It’s my 8 bucks. I expect this to be resolved asap. I was willing to give the place another shot, but please now I’m telling everyone I know to avoid this place at every cost.

Over the weekend, we stopped in at the new place on the block«The Owl Bar» This place all of the physical elements that a great patio bar needs. We walked in on Friday night and were really hoping that they had food — maybe they did, but we were never greeted by anyone and the ‘vibe’ seemed a bit off. We left without ordering anything or even seeing if they had food. We went again yesterday and were looking for a place to watch football. The Owl does have several TVs, but again we were not greeted and unless you can get a seat at the bar, seating is not really designed for watching a game — maybe this just isn’t that type of place. What was a more concerning was that it seemed to have the same ‘vibe’ that just seemed off and not very inviting.

Super cute patio bar that serves decently priced drinks as well as food. I had a gin and tonic, and it was good. Friends ordered food and it came out quickly and the waiter was nice when they asked for extra chips to go with their queso. Very nice place to enjoy a good Houston weather day and hang out with friends!

Not gonna lie I was expecting a little bit more diversity in the crowd and style of music. But it was OK. I want really a fan of the juke box style of music all night You would think for the area that they would do a little more to keep a crowd. But the juke box of music wasnt even as diverse as I would like. Overall its OK if you want popcorn and drinks.

This place has a fun atmosphere, great décor, very trendy. I loved everything about it with the exception of the bartender named Sarah. She was very rude and acted like she was in a rush with a bar that wasn’t even that crowded. She even YELLED out to my boyfriend«Who are you?» when trying to make sure she was matching the card to his name I suppose. You should definitely visit this bar but avoid Sarah. Someone needs to learn a particular set of skills and it’s called customer service.

I had been to the old location to see a friend of mine from Atlanta perform and it was ok. Might have stopped in once more. I was very interested in the new location as its walking distance from home. I stopped by this past Sunday night to check it out. The bar was full and LOUD. Glass and brick aren’t great for acoustic ambience. Or talking for that matter. It took me several minutes to get the bartenders attention as he was preoccupied with a group of girls sitting at the bar. When I finally did I asked him if they had Lovestreet a Karbach beer he didn’t and suggested a Goliad. It was about then that I noticed that he was pretty hammered. I went back outside to wait for my friend and when he showed up I told him what was happening .We went inside and he scoped out the scene and thought better to stay. I tried to pay for my beer with cash. Trying to explain to drunk bartender that he had my card and I wanted to pay cash. This seemed to confuse him. Finally a manager stepped in and took care of the issue. One freaking BEER? He came back from behind the bar and gave me my Tip(Yea, I even tipped the dude) and apologized. REALLY missing Stags Head and Mezzanine for sure.

Cool place to bring friends for a couple beers. The bar is clean and has tons of patio space. It’s located in a good part of town. Only down side I was bombarded by a bearded smelly hippie that lived next door in the apartments he sucked and asked me for three cigs. Other then that I had a great time. I will be going back

This place was clean and new. I was disappointed that they didn’t have a drink menu or any drink specials. It was really cold and quiet inside. The outdoor seating area was nice but they need to liven the place up. Maybe a live band or something?

Great new space! I’m excited to have a new bar close to home. The bartenders are friendly and the beer is cold! No detail was left out. They even put power outlets with USB adapters every few feet under the bar to charge your phone! The speakers to the FREE jukebox are spread evenly throughout the bar and outdoor patio which is a nice touch. You’ll never have to sit next to a loud speaker. I’ll be back again, and again, and again…

Stopped in on 08⁄20 as soon as I found out that their doors were open. The Staff at OWL is still the best in Houston hands down. If you are looking for a place without pretension and people that will make you feel better about life in general this is your place.

The Owl Bar’s new location is now open on West Alabama. Bright and airy space with plenty of tables and room at the bar. The wraparound deck will be the place to be when the Houston heat lets up. And they’re already testing out menu items. We tried wings, fried artichoke hearts, chips & queso. Congrats on the new space. It was worth the wait!

Okay, so I know it’s new. But the beer selection was pretty bad. Three beers on tap? And the selection of bottled and canned beers wasn’t great either. I ended up getting Independence Power & Light Pale Ale. Pretty big inside seating and bar area with a couple of large TVs(a Texans pre-season game was on), but it was SO loud inside even though the bar wasn’t even close to full. The best part about the Owl Bar? TONS of outside seating. I think I’ll wait a while(for the weather to get nice and for them to get some more beer) before trying the Owl Bar out again.

I went here because my friend said it was dog friendly. She takes her dog there and watches games all of the time. I thought I could do the same. Around 8, I was asked to leave so that the other patrons felt«more comfortable». I have an 80# boxer who did not bark or bother anyone the entire time he was there. He even managed to be the adoration of a few ladies at the bar. Knowing that that«policy» was bullshit, I left anyways. My friend commented that she brings her dog until close frequently, but the guy said that not everyone enforces the invisible policy. I was too embarrassed to stay even though the guy was trying to be nice about it. Considering how Houston’s Inner Loop nightlife is getting a bad rap for being discriminatory and how I hate that black people use the race card to push agenda, I still felt like if I was another color other than black, the scenario would have been different. I hope that I am wrong and that Owl Bar will be willing to address this review. Either way, they need to post the policy to be fair and not have a circumstantial policy that they enforce when they want to. I did enjoy the bar up until that situation, but I don’t think I’ll be going back.
