Nice, I owe T.R.H. an apology. It was me, not you. I might not have been in the mood for the bulgogi tacos when I ate ‘em but I came back and got a single Rolling Taco. it was the bomb. It’s a little pricey but two would stuff me. I’ll be back. I hope they get a little perkier on their Twitters. I think the true grind of working in a trailer in 90 degree weather is a little more transparent w/them.

When there today, they were parked at a coffee house on Montrose called Dirks. No line which was pretty cool. One thing that was annoying was the cash only thing– they should accepting cards and maybe even do the square app and just charge a dollar extra for the fee like Oh My Gogi does. I mean I don’t carry cash around that much anymore so I had to get some money from an ATM before I came here. Ordered some truffle fries, a quesadilla with beef, and the korean short ribs. The fries were seasoned with some cajun spices which tastes ok — only gripe I have is the amount they give you. The fries were $ 3 but the portion was small! In comparison, the portion of fries that Bernies Burger Bus gives you is about double for the same price! The short ribs were like $ 7 dollars. They tasted really good. They come with 2 small pieces of a french baguette. It was a decent portion relative to the price. Now the best thing I ordered was probably the quesadilla. Its $ 5 dollars and although small, it was the best item I had. I got it with beef and it tasted really good. Everything they put in it blended well for a good taste. Overall, the food was pretty good — the prices are somewhat high and and for the price the portions aren’t that big. Another downfall is the cash only!

I am a fan of The Rolling Hunger mainly because of their Banh Mi. I just personally prefer it over others I have had. I like their soft bread and feel like their meat is better than some of the other food trucks. I also like the Korean Tacos and their Quesadillas. All of which are $ 5. Their portions are not huge but at the same time everything is $ 5 or less. This makes for a great snack or small lunch/dinner unless you want to get a couple of things and load up. If you see them out I would recommend giving the a try. I have not had anything else so I cannot comment on the other items.

yum yum sauce on the truffle fries a bit too strong/much. And overall, the fries itself were too salty. Their banh mi was a lot better than i thought it’ll be but so expensive! But I’m vietnamese so i feel like banh mi shouldn’t be that much haha. But the meat was realllllly good! the guys that own the truck are really sweet too– i would probably come back for the banh mi and a nice conversation lol

I love truffle oil and the«truffle» fries I had at this truck was just insulting to my palate. There were 3 major offenses:(1) The fries were over seasoned with some all-seasong/cajun style seasoning. The only seasoning that should be on truffle fries is SALT.(2) «Yum Yum» sauce. First of all, WTF is «Yum Yum» sauce? It was a mysterious white sauce with chunks of something else I couldn’t identify. Mushroom bits? Eel? Just the sight of it alone turned me off. A more appropriate name would have been something else that rhymes with«Yum Yum» because that’s EXACTLY what it looked like to me.(3) I couldn’t even TASTE any truffle. Truffles have a VERY distinct taste. You put a drop of that stuff in ANY sauce and I could/should smell it and taste it. I don’t know what their purpose of selling truffle fries are in the first place. It doesn’t even FIT with the rest of its so-called«Mexican/Asian» fusion menu. Because it’s trendy? If you want fries, make some sriracha blended sauce. Be creative. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel with truffle fries. Here’s a tip: fries, truffle oil, parmesan cheese shavings and salt. I’m making a huge deal of it because their vegetarian options are slim to none. The one time I happen to try out their food they were trying to introduce their Asian tofu salad. For a lack of better words to describe it, that shit was gross. Salty. Slimy. And the best part of their attempt of making it «fusion» — PUT it in a f-cking tortilla. One more offense that’s irrelevant to their food. WHAT’S UPWITHTHEJUMBOTRUCK? They serve like 4 items. Talk about leaving a massive carbon footprint. I support the food truck community, but I’ll just pass this one up.

Bold flavors at cheap prices and fast service! He recommended the«rolling taco,» however, I think it was a bit much. Maybe the taco part made it very fulling, I’m not sure. Personally, I think ordering the truffle fries and the regular taco would probably be better. The truffle fries were tasty when you take that first bite… but after a while, you got sick of the sauce. The fries did continue to stay crunchy, though, which made me go back for more! The truffle was a little overpowering as well. My favorite was the banh mi sandwich. Great flavor and great spice! That I will order again!

Finally have a chance to try their Korean tacos and beef short rib for lunch yesterday. I have high expectation since Unilocaler gave them 4 stars. However, nothing to rave about. Just another food truck like Zilla. Beef short ribs were salty and lots of fat. Where is the Korean slaw that comes with their tacos? Just a few pieces of sliced lettuce tcuked inside the tacos. What a letdown! I will only go back for their truffle fries. Crispy outside and soft inside. They were fried to perfection with the yummy sauce on top. I can’t stop eating the fries. So, go and try their truffles tries and will not regret it.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMM Good! Headed over to The Rolling Hunger last night while hanging out a Mugsy’s, and was NOT disappointed! We ordered the bahn mi, the quesadillas, the Korean chicken taco, and beef taco. Every single thing, I ate, or tasted was delish! BEWARNED though, if you do not like heat, or spice, it may not be the place for you. The taco has just the right amount of meat(not skimpy) and perfect pico. The bahn mi, just the right amount of crunch to the bread. Plus, the gentleman that took our order was super helpful, and very nice. He had a big smile on his face when we walked up, which is always a good sign. The food came out quick, and hot. You can track them online via twitter, or fb, or their online GPS(who freaking crafty is that?) It’s also VERY reasonable. We got all that food, and two cokes for under $ 20. It fed four people. YUM, YUM, and MOREYUM!

I honestly don’t know why people complain about the prices of a food truck. If you don’t like the price, you’re not forced to buy it. Just go order off the damn $ 1.00 menu of McDonald’s or purchase 3 Maruchan noodles for $ 1.00. I give The Rolling Hunger 5-stars, because of the food and demeanor of the folks that cook their asses off in that enclosed space. The short ribs I ordered were very flavorful. Not only that, but the sauce it was marinated in was not overpowering and it also added a nice taste to the lettuce. The guys were really nice and friendly as well. Then again majority of the food trucks I’ve stopped at, I’ve never had a rude encounter with the person on the other side. The wait for the food isn’t so long as other food trucks as well. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the place and I’m glad we got a chance to stop by tonight. I plan on trying other items off the menu in a few more weeks.

I gave it five stars because the Rollin’ Taco I ordered was just that amazing to sway my rating. I have only went here once, but their signature dish was just something you cannot pass up! I am talking about the Rollin’ Taco. It is the perfect combination of Korean, Vietnamese, and Mexican cuisines. The taco had truffle fries, Korean cole-slaw, pico de gallo, truffle fries, and their special Yum-Yum sauce. This is one of the very few things I have ever ate that gave me a food orgasm! It was also very heavy; one of the taco can satisfy me and my boyfriend. The pork bahn mi was just mediocre. It deserves a three star, but like I said that Rollin’ Taco was freaking amazing!

The concept is spectacular, the food tastes good, but there’s a nagging feeling like The Rolling Hunger is leaving something on the pavement. Yes, the next food truck review is here. The Rolling Hunger, for those unfamiliar, is a Mexican+Korean+Vietnamese fusion joint, which I longed for in my Phamily Bites review( ). So let’s get this out of the way first: the food is extremely tasty. We got the short ribs($ 6) and two chicken tacos($ 5). Both made a scrumptious lunch, made even better by the fact we were able to eat it inside Dirk’s(excuse me, Dietrich’s?) Coffee, washed down with a delicious Mango Tea smoothie. And after reading David N.‘s review, I’m kicking myself for not ordering the Truffle Fries. Wherein lies the problem? Of those, there are a few: 1. Price vs. quantity — It’s too skewed to one side, and I’ll let you guess which one. There’s just not enough substance to justify the cost, wheels or no. 2. The looks — The truck looks like it was only half-completed, with a nice paint job but not the other accoutrements and fancies that other Houston trucks have stepped up with(again, hello Phamily Bites!). It’s actually slightly depressing to order from the truck and the unsmiling gentleman taking my order. That’s not how it should be, gentlemen. 3. Menu selection — Maybe it was an off-day, but the menu wasn’t robust. When you visit, say, Houston StrEATS, you’re almost overwhelmed by the various options and fight the urge not to over order. I didn’t get that vibe at the Hunger; it was actually a struggle to pick something I thought would really taste delicious. 4. Fusion — Which leads me to my biggest problem, and the most obvious one to me: NOT enough fusion. The short ribs(Korean-y delicious) came with a slice of lettuce(huh?) and a baguette(the Viet part… I guess?!). The tacos, which I think were Korean-based, tasted like something you could get from a roaming taco truck, like say, Taqueria Esparza next to Mélange Creperie. Frankly, I didn’t feel the fusion like I did when I was eating a burrito from Chilantro’s in Austin. The potential is there, but I’m asking for more. Give me the IT factor, and I’ll bump up the rating.

The hunger rolllls, and the lightning strikes. Another stomach gets filled, on a sleepless niiiight. If you told me there exists a food truck fusing Vietnamese, Korean, and Mexican cuisines, I would say that you’re taking crazy pills… and then I’d ask for some, because I so badly want this to be a reality, at least in my mind. Well put those D.A.R.E. stickers up and the drugs away, because this truck is real, and it’s spectacular. My eyes were bigger than my stomach(happens alot) when I ordered the pork bulgogi banh mi, two Korean tacos(pork and beef), and an order of truffle fries. The banh mi bread was firm and crispy, which is good b/c it soaked up all that delicious juice from the meat. Good crunch and kick from the veggies as well. This is a great combo and I’m getting hungry again just thinking about it. The tacos were another superb fusion; great flavor and texture all around. I prefer these over the Oh My Gogi! ones. I stole a Korean short rib from my roommate, and while tasty, the dish wouldn’t come close to filling me up. Fries were thick-cut with ample seasoning and a touch of truffle oil. Pretty addicting, but I think I prefer thin-cut ones. To each his own.

TRUFFLEFRIES!!! I had been following their facebook page for a bit now and I kept seeing in my news feed how their truffle fries were just simply a MUSTTRY. So the standard was getting set pretty high when fries were filling up my new feeds instead of mavs chants, and drunken half naked girl pics. FIrst off, they can be tracked via their GPS, what?! Yeah their food truck has a GPS linked to their website that tells you where they are at. So even though they update their facebook page and twitter, you can be certain they are at a certain place due to this GPS, either that or someone has stolen the truck and is currently striping it down. Well, on this night this food truck was located at one of my new favorite bars: Liberty Station. That in itself gives this an extra star bump, cause after eating or before eating I get the backdrop of a great bar. As far as the food went, I had one of the rolling tacos, it was packed with flavor and ingredients. I followed this with the korean short ribs. So nothing special here as in not innovative, but where can you get actual short ribs from a food truck?! I love grilling these up myself and being able to get something like that off a truck is crazy to me. The final treat for me this night was the truffle fries that I was anticipating so much. WOW. Imagine seasoned fries, fried to perfection, with just enough crunk, then topped with the best sauce ever. You have won my heart with a burst of lighting flavor followed by the truck that is rolling hunger.

Vietnamese/Korean cuisine… wrapped around Mexican inspiration. Gotta say with the trend of both fusion cuisines and this food truck/mobile restaurant stuff The Rolling Hunger has made it way into my list of places to find among the truck vendors. First time I checked out the beef quesadillas. They came out in about 10min and in a serving size slightly smaller than I anticipated. I know it was cheap but it was also relative to portion. Sandwiches are my favorite so when I saw the Banh Mi w/Korean Style Beef… shoot…why not?! Fresh sliced veggies and a bite of jalapenos hit the spot. This was probably the best value for my money. A little greasy but it was so delicious that can easily be overlooked. I think the wait is longer than anticipated. Perhaps it is my experiences with other short order food stands of a similar nature but it is supposed to be «food on the go» in my opinion. Hopefully I run into them again around town so I can continue to sample their ever expanding menu.

Holy short ribs Batman! Let me start by saying — get the short ribs! They are of the thinly sliced variety, medium tenderness and packed with flavor. The sauce had a savory sweetness that just had to be sopped up by the bread that is included in your order. The fusion Korean-Vietnamese sandwich was also pretty good. It has a nice spiciness. My only complaint is that I would have liked a little more meat. This truck is certainly not high tech, but don’t judge by the exterior. These guys crank out some mighty tasty food.

I really hate the word fusion. But this truck serves all kinds of different foods and parked at Liberty Station, they served it flippin fast and flippin well. I asked what was best — they advised the pork banh mi sold well($ 4). Asked what else… the korean short ribs do pretty well too($ 6). Well hot diggity. the only $ 10 cash in my pocket was well spent as cash is the currency of choice and only choice you get here. Food was ready as advised in 5 – 6 minutes. The short ribs were delightful! Honestly, the best word to describe it is just that… delightful! It was so good that I actually ate some of the bed of lettuce it was resting on. That sounds probably far fetched but… I did it. There was just enough fat on each piece of meat and it was incredibly tender and well seasoned. The banh mi was spicier than I would expect and while I would have liked a bit more of meat in it(greedy, yea?) … the flavor was authentic and bread was not the type that will break your cavities in half. So, to recap, I will definitely have the short ribs again and try to refrain from eating the styrofoam container as well. Banh mi was definitely good but as stated before — go short ribs!

Came by this truck as part of the Haute Wheels food truck festival. Long wait in line which raised my expectations. Ordered the two taco combo. Beef was better than the pork. The tacos were okay. Basically soggy greasy meat with Korean seasoning in a taco. I also ordered the short ribs which were decent but greasy.

Good… compared to typical bar food. While The Rolling Hunger was at Liberty Station I had the opportunity to enjoy a pork quesadilla and Korean BBQ shortribs. The quesadilla was savory and flavorful. An unexpected ingredient, kimchi, added some heat, but also added too much salt to the ensemble. Overall a huge upgrade from the dry, uninteresting chicken quesadillas that are common pub fare, but for a gourmet food truck, I would expect more. The Korean BBQ short ribs were made with low quality beef which was tough to chew and the flavor was common Korean BBQ sauce, nothing special. It came with toasted bread which was comparable to a Sam’s Club/Costco baguette toasted. Like the rest of the meal, not interesting, but not bad either. Overall, the food at The Rolling Hunger is tasty, but lacking quality. Although, there is much that can be improved, the truth is that this large meal was only $ 9.
