i was a patient of dr shelia tecsun. Notice i said i Was. She is a partner in with dr burns’ office. For several months i have been patiently waiting for the office to make right a mistake of theirs. This office sent my labs, not once but twice, to an out of network lab. i had to pay these lab bills because my insurance would not cover them. Finally, after many faxes & conversations with the staff, they inform me that there is nothing they can do for me even when i informed them that they were losing a patient. i cannot afford any more mistakes like these so i have no other choice than to search for another doctors office who will send my labs to the correct facility.

I have been going to Dr. Burns for a couple of years now. When I first started seeing her, the wait time in the exam room was horrible. I waited each time, about 30 – 45 minutes for Dr. Burns to come in. I thought it would get better, and that it was just a busy day, but it is that way every time. It is a huge hassle, every time I need to get my blood pressure meds refilled. I called two weeks ahead of time. Once I finally got threw the automated garbage, and got a real person, I could not get in. I was told that she only does follow ups Mon-Thur, first thing in the morning. I work during the week, so that’s impossible for me. I’m not going to take off from work everytime! The people in the front office are not very good at working with your schedule. They have the attitude, that if you can’t come in during certain times, then it’s just too bad! I told them that I am going to find another doctor, and they were not real concerned about it. I am very pleased with Dr. Burns, but with the issues in the office, and the wait time, it’s just not worth it.

Dr. Burns has been good to me. She’s my primary care physician and always someone I can trust. One thing in particular I like, is that she’s tech savvy. Everywhere she goes, she walks around with her laptop. I can identify with that! She has good line of sight into what the front desk is doing, and her staff, all through their centralized computer system. She impressed me once by knowing exactly when a call was placed to me. She said«You were supposed to have received an email. Did you get a call?» I said«No» thinking«Aha». Then she looks closer and says«Oh, the front desk just left you a message a few minutes ago». Sure enough, my phone beeps and let’s me know someone left me a VM. I like that she knows when calls were placed to me, and when prescriptions were faxed electronically. Waiting room wait times are good too. Lately it’s been less than a 10 minute wait. Same day appointments? No problem. She usually gets you in the same day when you’re sick and need a prescription, so you don’t have to go to the med clinic or Urgent Care.
