West King Chinese Restaurant

Fantastic place! Delivery is fast and efficient! Try their wings and pizzas, too!!! Prices are great and Chinese/​wings/​pizza delivered? Doesn’t get any better… And their pizzas are to die for! Go figure!!!

We ordered at 9:00 pm and waited an hour before we called back to see where the order was, the lady on the phone said it would be here in 5 minutes. It’s 2 hours later and we still have nothing; we tried calling and calling to see where our order is and no one answers. The place is closed now and we don’t have our food. The worst service ever! Never again are we ordering from here.

First off, this is a Take Out and Delivery establishment. Family owned and operated. They have always been very nice and courteous in person and over the phone.
Now for the food.
I’ve ordered most everything they offer on their menu. My top 3 favorites are General Tso’s Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken and the Combination Special Lo Mein. I’ve never been disappointed in the preparation of those 3 dishes at anytime. Always good and fresh. I can’t seem to choose a favorite soup as they are all fantastic and the Wonton soup has just the right amounts of Wonton to fill you up quickly. Fried pork egg rolls and fried cheese puffs are also very tasty. The Combination Special Fried Rice is addictive.
Take Out verses Delivery.
If you live close by, I would suggest doing take out as it is indeed faster and you do get your food incredibly fast. Delivery has never been a problem either as sometimes I get my order in less than 20 minutes, but I’m sure that depends on the time of day or night.

I love there egg rolls and cheese puff the general chicken and fried is normal. Cool ppl.

For many years west king was the best Togo Chinese. Though it’s utterly inconsumable for humans. The last three times we ordered we got hair in it. Even the remakes had hair in then. Bleh!

This is a small family run place. I can see many people place order for delivery and get bad experiences. and yes they are pretty bad at delivery. So I always call order and pickup later. I stick with only one of their dishes which is steamed veggies/​broccoli with any kind of meat or sea food. The sauce is good and there are not many ways that this dish can go wrong. I get these at least once every 2 weeks and never had any bad experience. Their other dishes do have a reputation of being on the more oily or giving unexpected results.
Do not expect to be mind blown, but its not entirely tasteless.

Horrible service. Terribly slow and rude.

My wife placed an order online. We were told 15 minutes. I showed up 10 minutes later and paid (with a tip) and was told it was almost ready. Given that I was on the way to a little league game, I was in a hurry. Five minutes later, I checked again. «Two minutes» I was told. I made a quick call. I checked again. «They are putting it together. Just two minutes.» That cycle repeated another couple of times.
All told, it was 30 minutes from the original order and a series of «two minute» promises. The front person argued with me, citing the time i came in to pick up as the order time, ignoring the multiple broken promises. It wasn’t until I told her to cancel my order that she even became responsive.
Completely sorry experience.
We will not be back.

Me and my boyfriend have ordered from this place a few times now; I can honestly say the food is good. Arrived hot and didn’t take long after I ordered to get to our place. We ordered orange chicken, beef friend rice and egg rolls with some extra sweet and sour sauce and everything was correct and tasted great, hot and fresh. Never had a complaint about this place, but seeing some of these other reviews you never know. Only place I order for Chinese take out.

Over the last few months, something has changed at West King. My boyfriend and I used to order delivery from here at least twice a month. Every time the food came promptly in proper packaging. Good food with no fuss.
Since about August, however, every time we order from there even more has gone wrong than the last time. First, the wait time became longer and longer up to 1 hour and 30 minutes when 30 – 45 minutes was estimated. Then, the food was messed up. Forgotten or incorrect rice. New packaging that leaks EVERYWHERE.
Finally, we had the worst experience yet there two weeks ago. When I ordered over the phone, the woman didn’t seem to understand what I was saying or what she was doing on her computer. Took about 10 minutes just to order two meals. The debit card we were using had been having some issues lately so I told her over the phone to charge the order NOW in case there are problems. She agreed to charge it after we got off the phone. About 45 minutes later, I get a phone call that the card didn’t work. She suggested we pay cash or use another card. I explained to her we did not have another usable card and too little cash to pay for the order, which is why I specified charging the card at the time I ordered. I offered to come to the restaurant to try swiping the card in person and asked if the food was ready as it would be cold by the time I got there. She said yes it was ready but they’d remake it. I get into my car and get another phone call. The delivery man has already left the restaurant. I explain that I don’t have enough cash AGAIN. She says we can owe them the difference for next time. Since I didn’t plan on ordering from them again, I refuse. I told her that I have 4 dollars short of the total, and that should be good enough due to the circumstances. After a lot of resistance and me having to threaten not taking the food altogether, she agreed to take what we had in cash. I walk back up to find the delivery man there already and on the phone with I’m assuming the woman from the restaurant. He says that if I don’t give him enough money for the order that they will need to keep some of the food. I explained to him the situation, but he told me the same. As buying half the food was ridiculous and wouldn’t feed both of us, I refused the order. Never ordering from here again.

It’s clear something went really wrong here at the start of 2013. We ordered a family meal tonight. Beef and broccoli and Shrimp in lobster sauce. At first I thought the shrimp was awful egg drop soup. The shrimp were large, the sauce eggy and flavorless. We didn’t receive hot and sour soup, so we called to correct the problem. They never bothered to send it. The beef was chewey and flavorless. Honestly, Chung King in the freezer would have been better.

If there was anything worse than poor I would choose it. I ordered delivery, waited 45 minutes for my order and when I got it, it was the completely wrong order. We called them back and they gave us such a hard time to even get our money back. We had to drive back to the store, and get our money back. And to top it off, after having to drive and drop off the WRONG order, they made us pay for a soda that was supposed to be free! I will never be ordering from this place again.

Why only four? First time delivery. So… i write this with the disclaimer that it could change for better or for worse. However, a 4 right out of the starting gate is pretty impressive. New to the area, i set out on my quest for «delivery options». Pizza for the hubby. Asian for me. Stopped in for a to go menu… they were too busy to acknowledge me as i took one from the counter… which is fine. the busier you are, the likelihood increases that the produce in your walk in is moving. Called in a delivery order. was quoted 45 minutes or so (fine.I’m tired… I’m not cooking) within 20 minutes… a smiling, friendly young man was at my door. Order: 1. Shrimp/​chicken with veggies and brown sauce dinner combo for the hubby. 2. Lg wonton soup. 3. Small hot/​sour soup (i like to mix them)
The dinner combo portion was HUGE. hubby doesn’t eat veggies… so i fish out the veggies, which sometimes leaves him without much of a meal. Not the case here. The veg were all crisp and pretty, and his chicken and shrimp actually looked like. chicken and shrimp. Hot/​sour soup… is HOT. Lol… but you are warned… by the name. I loved his egg drop soup…(I forgot to get him won ton with his combo… so i gave him mine) and the won ton soup did not dissapoint.
We will definitely be using West King as our «go to» for Chinese. Yum.

We recently moved to Houston and we love living in the energy corridor. We frequently eat Chinese and West King is by far the best. Their prices are reasonable, the portions are huge, and the food is delicious. They also have amazing chicken wings seasoned with spicy flour and a touch of cinnamon… delish. Our favorites are the Kung Pow chicken and the Chicken and broccoli. You always get fresh crisp veggies and the chicken actually tastes like chicken instead of the rubbery junk that is ubiquitous amongst Chinese restraints here in West Houston. For the quality, quantity, and price… West King just can’t be beat… blessings!

Yikes. Ordered online for delivery to my work. No call, no email so I called to confirm, they had my order but were confused with my directions. They still went to the wrong building.
Food was horrible. Nastiest egg rolls I have had in quite a while. General Tso Chicken was overcooked and not so much chicken. Lots of nasty overcooked breading type fried stuff. Even the broccoli was gross, wilty. I had ordered some vegetables as well but just did not want to go there, threw away most of the chicken and bought some M&Ms from the vending machine.
Other than that is was great!

great take out! my husband and i love their fried rice. they are always timely with their delivery & there is always enough for lunch the next day. excellent food for the price.

Abbreviated version of a protracted unpleasant experience: ordered online for several people in my office, they did not process my order until I called to find out where the food was. Fast forward an hour, still no food called back and they told me the driver was on the way, after another 30 minutes I called to cancel the order and they offered me 10% off. I declined and they informed my they didn’t need my business.
Average food, atrocious customer service. Needless to say my office will not be patronizing this establishment again.

DELICIOUS! And, they deliver! And it’s piping hot when you get it! And the large size is big enough for four meals! Love it!

West King is a great Chinese take out place. I order over the phone and go pick it up. By the time I get there it’s ready. The place is very small because they only do pick up and delivery. No dine in. The price is in the 6 – 8 dollar range, the portions are plentiful and the taste is always great.

We ordered West King last night and it was fantastic! We ordered online through their website which made it super easy. There were four of us and for about $ 10 a person we ended up with enough food to serve eight. The delivery was incredibly fast. They even came straight to our door which is rare in our high security complex. The delivery man was really sweet and made sure we had everything we needed (including tons of tasty sauces.) I’m picky about the quality of meat in my Chinese food and West King did not disappoint. The dishes were extremely flavorful (but not greasy) and our Kung Pao was appropriately spicy. It may very well be the best Chinese delivery I’ve ever had.

Great Chinese take-​out place! There are quite a few in the area but I particularly like this one because I love the taste of their food cooked in high heat wok. I usually get their chicken and shrimp cashew nut lunch special that comes with soup (egg drop or hot and sour) and fried cheese puff. It comes with veggies — carrot and celery instead of just meat like the other places closeby, plus the sauce is most delicious. Great portion and always consistently good!
