Gotta love Pub. For undergrads and grad students alike, Willy’s pub is a great spot to chill on campus. Guys(and girls!) behind the bar are great! They are more than happy to chat it up with you, and they really set the tone for a laid back place. Best prices(bottle and draft) beat any bar in the area(except Vahalla, the on-campus grad student bar). Keep the glass occurs around 9pm Wednesdays, typically 2⁄3 times a month for $ 5. They do trivia afterward which is always a good time, although as it starts at 11:30 it is rather late. Thursday’s are«pub nights» for undergrads, so this is usually when I avoid going as it gets rather crowded. I love coming here in the afternoon to study or catch up with friends. It’s such a chill spot on such a high-pressure campus, it’s like my little oasis in a dessert(a 200k dessert of humidity, hard classes, ruthlessly competitive students, classes that curve down…). All of that aside, Pub is one of the many great things about Rice, and I will support it as a student and as an alum

So I’ve been here twice so far, both times for lunch since there is some Asian restaurant(I assume) who brings in food to sell. So for under $ 7 I get decent Chinese food for lunch and I just have to walk downstairs! The place seems decently clean and the prices seem pretty good. I’ve yet to hang out there but perhaps I’ll get around to that and then update this review.

This is a college bar with some pretty great prices. Great selection of beers but it is usually empty or filled with students. That being said, the bartenders are super friendly and I go whenever I feel like a beer.

College campus bar, as long as you go in with that expectation you won’t be disappointed. They usually have a quality selection of bottled beer, and some nice local taps.

I’m all for student-run businesses, but it’s frustrating when they have lackluster service. The last time I was at Pub, it was fairly early(around 9:30) and the place was almost empty. Still, it took forever for my friends and I to get our beers. And to top it off, mine was mostly foam(GROSS!). The one bartender was just going to give it to me like this, fortunately another one saw this mistake and give me a new one. Still, it shouldn’t have even come to that. Also, while cheap($ 2.00 for a 12-oz. beer or $ 2.50 for 20-oz.), Pub is still way more expensive than Valhalla right across the street(which has 95 cent beers!). Pub’s a fun place to hang out, especially on nights where there’s a College Pub Night, Trivia, etc. If it would work on customer service, its rating would improve dramatically.
