I am an old Carrosellos customer who was heartbroken when Bruno closed up shop. Thankfully he opened a new restaurant, Brunos. I have been to the new place a few times and shame on me I havent written a review. Think old school Brooklyn italian. Very intimate, small bar, small dining room with a small party room. There is a beautiful wood burning pizza oven, decorated tastefully. A few things to note, parking is tough and the meter maids are around. Meter parking in front, a 5 car parking lot in back. I always go around the corner for free street parking. I dont want to worry about feeding a meter when I am getting my drink on. Which brings me to my next point… what a great pour Jack Daniels always taste better in their restaurant, I dont know it must be the ice The menu is typical red sauce italian although their choices from the grill are outstanding. 64 ounce tomahawk for 2, veal chops etc. I had them make me a beautiful dish of broccoli rabe and sausage. low carb My guests had chicken scarpiello, grilled salmon and grilled chicken. All prepared perfectly. For appetizers we had buffala mozzarella with tomatoes and roasted peppers and fried calamari. Done the«right way» I wish I lived closer, it would be a weekly eat I promise. Service is excellent and considering the quality of the food, prices are reasonable. Lunch time tip… entrees are half off! If you are in Howard Beach and in the mood for Italian hit Brunos, you will not regret it.

Friday night dinner, and this place is packed — not a single table open. On a block of almost pure restaurants, many of which are almost empty, they are obviously doing something right… delicious, carefully prepared classic Italian dishes that don’t break the bank, full bar, fresh baked bread in-house(ugh so good!), and apparently, Friday is the calamari delivery from their fish monger — they grill it whole, and was so damn good ! I also love Gino’s on this same block(also packed w/a long wait on the same night) but I will def. be back to Bruno’s as well — amen ! PS — no hats inside — guys — better get your ‘do done !

From the owner to the wait staff, to the food, this place is a definite 5 star! We could not have been better taken care of than if it were our own family. We were a group of 30 coming in from our Father’s funeral. I looked for a place on Unilocal that could accommodate all of us. The reviews were good and Unilocal hasn’t let me down yet. Bruno was so kind on the phone and met us in person when we arrived to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. From the fresh pizza and antipasto to the pasta and entrees, EVERYTHING was great! Thank you to everyone at Bruno’s. You really made a tough day a little easier.

We were looking to near nearby without traveling to the city or north Bklyn and we decided to try Bruno’s. I have to say we were pleasantly surprised at both the service and food. No, it’s not blow you away food, but what we sampled was very good traditional Italian. We started with a pizza with arugula and prosciutto, and stuffed artichoke. The pizza was delicious. The arugula was tossed lightly with lemon and oil, which went well with the prosciutto. Crust was light and thin. Very good. My husband liked the artichoke better than I did, but commented that the artichoke was fresh. I just felt the breadcrumb mixture was too heavy for me. I was so stuffed at this point that I just ordered grilled calamari and my husband had the pasta with salmon. Both of us ended up taking most of our mains home and really enjoyed them the next day. The salmon in the pasta was fresh and not overcooked and the grilled calamari was tender. I will definitely go back. BTW, the sangria was excellent.

Food was amazing. Had veal Marsala and carbonara and both as good as they come. Great ambiance. Howard beach was sketchy at night but Bruno’s fantastic.

Best Italian restaurant in Howard Beach. Marvelous food and their wonderful staff makes you feel special whether you’re a regular or first timer. Bruno, Nick and Joe treat us like family. We had them cater a luncheon for us this past summer and all our guests raved about the food and service… and we raved about the low price! Love their Penne Ala Vodka, Margarita Pizza and Filet Of Sole Oreganata. This place is real winner and the valet parking is an added plus. My wife and I recommend Bruno’s highly.

Great Food&Service, No Waits, Good for having a conversation. The food here is consistently delicious and well prepared. For appetizers, I’ve had the homemade pizza, which is prepared differently depending on the menu and season and an bake clams are amazing. I’ve always ordered whatever fish is on the menu, which is prepared with seasonable vegetables(most recently kale and a vegetable and lentil mix) and is always perfectly seasoned and cooked. The amount of food always leaves me feeling full but not overly stuffed. The service is extremely professional, attentive, and friendly. I also really like that there has never been a wait(the restaurant is never empty, but it’s never packed) and that it is a good place to go if you want good food and to talk to your dinner companions. Good Wine & Good Food

They just lost a customer. We went sat to have dinner for two and they overcharged our bill by $ 17. you would think they would be more accommodating and try to compensate for the mistake instead they haven’t even given us back the credit and have to investigate saying it could be the credit card issuers mistake. Something sounds fishy. We won’t go back there! Plus the chicken francese was very pasty… too Much egg. They should of handled it better.

The four star rating is ONLY for the truffle cheese prosciutto pizza, which was amazing. Service was good but the food was just fair. Chicken Francese was very bland and gnocchi was good but melted cheese was too overwhelming and took away from the dish… Italian cheesecake and cream pastry were also disappointing… Will go back for the pizza for sure and maybe try other dishes.

I came here for my birthday last week with my boyfriend. Wasn’t our 1st choice but I’m so happy that we chose to come here. The atmosphere is so warm and cozy. The food was amazing. We had the tripe for an appetizer, insanely delicious. I had the special mahi mahi for an entrée with grilled veggies and my boyfriend had the special lamb chops with roasted potatoes and broccoli rabe. Both entrees were cooked to perfection and the portions were nice sized. With our meals we had Rosé sangria with tropical fruit. It was soo good. We has such great service even though we came at 9:30 when they close at 10. They didn’t try to rush us out of there like most restaurants. Would highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back!

I think this is one of Howard Beach’s best restaurants. The food, service and atmosphere is consistently great. They always make us feel like part of the family. We recently brought 6 people with us and everyone loved the food. The grilled octopus was perfect. Their specials always made to perfection and the quantities abundant. I love starting with a brick oven pizza!!! Save room for dessert, it is tempting and even when someone says they don’t want any, they end up with their fork on your plate. Make them order their own.

My first time at Bruno’s was for my office’s holiday party. The party room was a decent size enough to fit a party of 50. I was the first to arrive to the party, as soon as I walked in the servers came over took my coat and asked what I was going to be drinking for the night. Hors d’oeuvres came around and there was a lot of variety to choose from, mini riceballs, meatballs, chicken and beef on a stick, and shrimp cocktail. After the hors d’oeuvres were passed around we had anti-pasto salad, fried calamari and baked clams. For dinner there was an 11 choice menu to choose from I went with filet of sole which was pretty tasty. Food was good but it could have been a little hotter. Would I come here again? yes. But only if I was invited here. It would not be my first choice for Italian food.

Went there for a private party and all I can say is YIKES! First of all there were bugs flying all over the room and the food. Small gnats and flies everywhere, you could see them all over the mirrors on the walls. The food was tasteless and lukewarm at best. The pace at which the food was served at first was okay but something happened between the tasteless pasta dish and the main course and the entire room sat there for 40 minutes waiting. By the time the lukewarm coffee came out, half the room had left and the other half was in the process of saying goodbye. Not only would I never go there to eat, if I am ever invited to go to another private party I will arrange to be out of town that day to avoid having to go through that again.

Great dinner for four seemed reasonably priced. Good portions, flavorful. Attentive service. Was recommended by the bell captain at the hotel we were staying at the evening before we flew out of JFK. Wait staff were very helpful when the cab we called up to take us back to the hotel never showed. Great place to people-watch. The night we were there I think we were the only out-of-towners. Everyone else seemed to be regulars. We live in RI which prides itself on great Italian restaurants but Bruno’s is better than the ones I’ve been to on Federal Hill recently. Wine was pricy — but that’s the case at every restaurant — and we were too full for some gorgeous looking desserts. We’d go back again — no second thoughts.

Oh boy this isn’t good! «Old wine» Slow service «Italian food» served in a very«non Italian» way. Boring specials Lack of flair or substance not he menu Overall taste is really average and non impressive PAINFULLY slow service. PAINFUL and they aren’t even aware!!! I think the kitchen management is ok, but the wait staff is out to lunch. Valet parking is a plus in Queens, but there are lots of others who offer the same. Old and tired décor. Not good for almost any customer. If you must then give it a try, but if not skip it at all costs…
