How did I not know this place existed before last weekend? I found the Octagon House after going on the Chocolate March put on by the Inns of the Valley. This museum is such a great find.
The house actually is in the shape of an octagon and the helpful guide informed us that the reason the house was built in an octagonal shape was because it provied more space than a square house, plus better ventilation and more space for windows and thus more lighting. The house was built in the 1800’s and is completely decorated with period furnishings. All of the guides were so helpful and you could tell they know their stuff and really love what they do. I can’t wait to go back to the Octagon House in the summer when we can go to the top dome and see the gardens.
