Food was great– Penang curry. Owner was very nice and even brought our infant son some free wonton puffs. Definitely recommend

The best curry we have EVER had. And we try curry everywhere we go. The shrimp pad Thai was amazing as well! Red Curry, spice level 3 is what we had.

The price is almost double what you would pay at Nari or Ginger Café. The coke was flat and tasted awful. The Beef was hard and the chicken had no flavor. No cilantro on top. No Typical Thai condiments. They serve both the chicken and beef with vegatables in a sorry brown sauce that is just watered down gravy. There were about 10 employees in the restaraunt hiding in the back. They only need 3, that is why you pay extra for these useless bodies. The produce was delivered while I was there. I a ziploc bag. Really is this how bad thier business is? I was the only one there on a Saturday between 12 and 1. No Flavor No hope This is a family run disaster.

Not sure how long this has been open, but my wife mentioned a few times that she wanted to give it a try and tonight was our first visit. The place was not very busy. There was a group of 8 – 10 seated on one table and another couple. We were promptly greeted, seated, given menus and ordered our drinks and appetizer. We had the shrimps in a blanket and they were served promptly and were excellent. For the main course my wife ordered masamam curry and I had the beef pad Thai. My wife said the curry was excellent. I usually have beef pad Thai at Pei Wei(which I like) but there is no comparison… Star of Bangkok is the best pad Thai I had around here. For dessert we ordered crispy bananas with ice cream… again, very good. The service was great… the waitresses were attentive, always looking if we needed something, had questions, etc. I never had to ask for a refill… they were keeping my glass full. In summary, great food, great service and the prices are not outrageous. If you’re looking for Thai food in the Atascocita/Kingwood/Humble area, give the Star of Bangkok a try!

This is one of the top 5 experiences I have had at a restaurant. Here is quick summary. I walked in and found the place to be totally empty. Nick seated me and promptly took my drink and appetizer order. There were a couple of beverages I wanted to dry, the Thai Iced Tea and Thai Iced coffee. I have had Vietnamese Iced Coffee before, but never Thai Iced Coffee so I went for it. Man was it good and very similar to Vietnamese. As Nick brought my coffee and soup(Tofu soup), we started to engage in conversation about action movies. Because he is Thai, I asked about Tony Jaa(Ong-Bak series) and some other Thai movies, which he immediately recognized. During this conversation, I ordered Panang Curry — Vegetables and Tofu. Shortly thereafter, a lady walked in and sat right behind me. Since Nick is very personable they started to talk, well come to find out they know each other through some Thai restaurants in Virginia Beach where she is from. Not only that, but Nick knows her mom! She pulls out her phone calls her mom, hands the phone to Nick, and they start to talk in Thai. After they get off the phone we all start talking about how it is such a small world, and how cool it is that their paths crossed again. She said a family member wanted some noodles and she knew the best place near her that had those was Star of Bankok. She said she really needed this as it reminded her of home and her mom’s cooking. We talked some more they exchanged phone numbers to keep in touch, and Nick even got a camera and had me take a picture! As I paid the bill Nick walked over with some to go drinks, and guess what he gave me another iced coffee ONTHEHOUSE!!! Cmon guys when was the last time you have ever had an experience like this in a restaurant. I’m definitely going back.

Great food so we come here often that is until my husband found a staple in his food. The waiter and owner acted like it was no big deal. Offered an apology and that was it. I will never go back. Too bad too since I think we were their most frequent customers.

We were here couple days ago because I drove by FM1960 a week earlier and saw a Thai resto in Humble. Went online and saw pretty good reviews so I took my family there to try out. Food was good and even better, it’s in Humble where I live so I don’t have to drive far when I’m craving for Thai food. Service was great too. Good Job Star of Bangkok. Definitely recommend this place to everyone and will come back too.

Wife and I came here Sunday evening due to some decent Unilocal reviews. We had driven by this place multiple times and never gave it a second thought. But wife was craving Thai and we didn’t want to go to Nara, so we ended up here. First off as most of the other reviews have said, this is the ultimate case of don’t judge a book by its cover. This was Baytown Seafood before. From the outside it looks completely run down but the interior of this place is beautifully done and really transports you. Also they have wonderful 50s and 60s music playing. Again not what you expect from the outside. Now to the food. For an appetizer we shared a garden salad with peanut dressing. It was tasty and the dressing was generous. Also it was a little different because it had a little kick to it. 5⁄5. For our main course we ordered two dishes. We had both dishes at a level 2 spicy. The first was the Panang Curry w/Chicken. It looked a little darker than the other Panang Curry I have had. But it was no less tasty. Nice flavor and had a generous portion of chicken and veggies. 5⁄5 The second was the Pad Keemow. Again it looked a little different(lighter) than what we have had at other restaurants, but very tasty. 4⁄5 Another 5 out of 5 goes to the service. Our server was very attentive and checked on us to make sure we were doing OK. My wife and I love Thai food and we have eaten it all over the world. Star of Bangkok serves tasty and authentic Thai food. This place is a hidden gem. The dishes we had here were better than Nara or Red Curry Thai in Kingwood. I highly recommend that people give this place a go.

Listen to Unilocal and just try this place. It isn’t much to see inside and the musical selections can vary from Big Band to current easy listening, but if you go for the food, who cares? The curries have always been solid and the service attentive but not hovering. The portions are about average when compared to most Thai restaurants — usually plenty for leftovers. The Thai donuts are the perfect end to the meal and come with a sweet, condensed milk sauce. For $ 3.25, it can be a sweet few bites for a party of four or fewer. The only miss we have had there was the crawfish — it seemed to simply be boiled and placed in the curry, rather than cooked with it. It also had a frozen taste. If you stick with traditional Thai dishes, you’ll likely be happy with the outcome.

Coming from Boston where I lived by multiple Thai places, I was super excited to see another Thai place open up in the northeast corner of Houston. I ordered the pad thai, basil chicken, and crab angels. The pad thai was on point! The basil chicken was pretty fresh. The crab angels were not as crispy as the ones at Nara Thai. Overall, the food was very good, portion size is great. I will definitely be coming back! There were quite a few Thai families ordering the curry selections so I’ll have to try that the next time.

Hidden gem near Humble. So you don’t get to travel to Thailand but it does not mean you can’t taste the authentic flavors of Thailand. The dining room is clean and minimalistic in design. Wait staff is very friendly. We started with the shrimp in a blanket. The shrimp was cooked just right and the blanket was very crispy. The papaya salad has a very refreshing crisp flavor and the Tiger cry beef, so yummy tenders pieces of beef served with lettuce and purple onions in a tangy spicy sauce makes the perfect accompaniment to sticky rice. We also had the Red Curry with chicken just the right amount of spice to highlight the other flavors in the dish. If you live in the area or just passing by, this is a must try. You will not regret it. Weekday lunch special $ 7.99(Tues — Fri included with entrée… soup, salad and appetizer) This place is closed on Mondays.

The exterior is deceptive. The food was good, though the prices were a little higher then most Thai places we eat at. Not by much though. They are doing fresh crawfish right now, which was delicious. I would recommend skipping the Louisiana style crawfish in favor of the Thai style. The Louisiana crawfish were fine but nothing to write home about. The Thai style were phenomenal though They can do food without spice but be forewarned, their mild still has a bit of heat. Overall the food tastes fresh and flavorful. I definitely recommend giving it a try.

This place is amazing! My three friends came here on a Friday night after leaving Nara in Atascosita(long wait time and short staffed). I got the Masaman Curry with chicken. It was AMAZING!!! One friend got Panang curry with tofu. It was AMAZING. And the other friend for ginger beef. It was AMAZING! The waitstaff is attentive and professional, and the service was quick. The owner even stopped by to check on us. If you’re looking for good Thai food, definitely give this place a try!

Passing by 1960 is a usual route for me and recently I found myself doing a double take because what used to be a seafood restaurant is now a Thai restaurant! I was excited to have another Thai restaurant around town so I definitely had to give it a try. I went here on a Sunday afternoon, and no one was there, it was that silent awkward weird feeling, but I should’ve known because it’s new so people probably don’t know about it yet, but the boyfriend and I decided to brave it out and just eat here. We entered the restaurant and it was a cozy quaint set up with booths set up on the walls and table seating around. There is a TV mounted on the wall, and I’m guessing the owner’s eyes were glued to it watching a movie on it. With being the only customers there I couldn’t imagine we wouldn’t get attention so the servers were attentive to us. Now on to the important stuff, the food. As our starter we had the calamari which was $ 6.95 and I would rate it 2⁄5 stars, a little too much breading and taste like calamari should be, nothing outstanding. As our mains we had the chicken pad seew noodles($ 10.95) and panang curry($ 11.95), and I must say, I enjoyed them very much, filled with a lot of flavor, I can definitely taste the different spices, so I would give them a 4⁄5 stars. Overall a good tasting Thai food around town.

This place has reopened and I first stopped by about a month ago to give it a try. They were a week away from opening and I figured I would stop in again and see what it was like. The inside was simple but relaxing and the hosts were extremely nice and took time with a couple behind us that was asking about curry food items on the menu. I brought my wife and daughter along and we selected some Spring Rolls and Calamari for appetizers. Both were presented on separate platters and were quite good. Not overcooked and the calamari was light and very tasty. I ordered hot tea and was a little disappointed as they brought a cup of hot water and generic teabag. I used to a small teapot of tea steeping and a cup to pour into. My daughter ordered the iced Thai Tea that she enjoyed. My Entrée was a market priced whole fried snapper with a sweet and sour sauce. The dish came with a side bowl of rice and perfectly cooked carrots, and Zuchini pieces that really complimented the dish. My daughter ordered the Pangnang curry dish and she enjoyed it and needed a to go container as the portion was plentiful. My wife had a noodle dish she had requested to not be too spicy and we thought it was somewhat bland but I think that may have been in response to her non spicy request. Overall, our dining experience was enjoyable, relaxed, and hosts were extremely thoughtful and nice. We will be trying it again. Oh, I was also taken back somewhat by the background music that included Neil Diamond and other older artists.

Honestly, we did not enjoy our food. My family and I frequent thai restaurant’s often and have some experience with authentic thai food… and I did not feel this would pass as that. It seemed like a tex — thai fusion. The beef salad smelled like dog food, which was odd because the cilantro over powered the dish. I give two stars because the servers were attentive to us. I would not go back there for the food. Just my opinion.

New place that just opened so it’s okay that food took a lil longer. We were the only ones in there. I think the quality of food is comparable to other Thai restaurants. I ordered the Chicken Pad a See Ew and my family got the Lardna(pad see ew with gravy) and everyone was very satisfied!
