Los Primos Cantina

This is my #1 go-​to Mexican food «order at the counter» spot in Huntington! Food is fresh, well made, well proportioned, and well priced! Ordering at the counter can test your patience and be a little confusing but it’s definitely worth it. Its one of the few places around here where you can get some real authentic Mexican food that isn’t too «overpriced» and «Americanized». Their salsa bar also has good variety. For breakfast I recommend the «gringo burrito». For lunch and dinner I recommend their tacos.

Food is super fresh and delicious. I got the carne asada plate with black and pinto beans instead of rice. The steak was flavorful and the bean tasted fresh.

I have to commend the two gentlemen at Los Primos Cantina. They had a line out the door before I showed up before 7 pm and the line continued until almost 8 pm. No slowing, no wavering of deliciousness. These two have a Help Wanted sign on their window, so they clearly need help, but their food quality and quantity was well worth the wait. I’ve been coming here for over a decade. I’m glad they decide to serve us good Mexican food!

Damn good carne asada. My go to is the Burrito California (not a French fry burrito) substitute carne asada instead of pollo and your good! Comes with guac!
Also the grande tostada is huge and awesome!
The free chips and salsa station is nice too. Highly recommended!

Okay so I’ve only been here twice and both times it was take out so I don’t know how well their service is but they seem nice and clean.
Okay so the first time it was nothing special. Second time I ordered a chicken burrito especial with guacamole and it was huge! And it was DELICIOUS. I really like that it’s open late too! Definitely gonna come again (:

As Taco shops go, this one is the truth. They have Bomb Carne Asada and carnitas for the gingos, while also having buche, al pastor, lengua, cabeza, and more for those seeking something more authentic.
Tacos are good sized, burritos are big, Mr Serious more than a single person’s meal. They also have loaded fries or nachos that wont let you down. Soda, Mexican coke in a bottle, horchata, and beer on draft plus micheladas and more.
Tip: Know what you want when you get to the front of the line. If it’s busy give them a consolidated breakdown of what you are having, like 4 tacos with carne asada, 2 burritos with carnitas, a chicken quesadilla, etc… They will make it faster for you and both of you will be happier. The line is worth it, there is a reason it’s busy.

Pretty standard, but also pretty good

First time here. 3 fish tacos later and I’m stuffed. So tasty and great flavor. These guys know how to do it right. You need to come here and try them.

Made with a huge flour tortilla, refried or black beans, rice, carne asada, carnitas or pollo, lettuce, jack cheddar, sour cream, guacamole and pico de gallo.

3 ½ stars. First time I ever came here I ordered the tacos and was not impressed. But as I walked out I saw a burrito another customer was eating and their michelada. So I came back to try both. Yep, the burritos are pretty awesome and their michiladas are pretty outstanding also. So you just got order the right thing-​mainly the burritos.

We walked in 10 minutes before closing time and they still served us and were very friendly about it. Love getting my late-​night Mexican fix. The veggie burrito is fresh and packed tight with a BUNCH of ingredients. It measures about size of your forearm and seriously weighs like 10lbs! I ate it over 3meals. Tacos are all good, and i’m also a sucker for a basic cheese casadilla.

I used to go to Los Primos (the Costa Mesa location) at least once a week when I attended high school at Newport Harbor to get their Mr. Serious 2lb burrito — hey, I was a growing kid!
It never dawned on me that they had a location in HB so close to where I now live and so for the first the other night, when I had a craving for Mexican food, I finally made it into this one and I couldn’t have been more pleased.
I ordered the Carnitas Torta and the Carne Asada Fries (prob should have skipped the fries — too much food). Both were extremely delicious and portions were enormous. They have a self-​serve salsa bar with unlimited tortilla chips (another reason why I should’ve skipped the fries) and they also have all the Mexican beers (by the bottle) in existence. You can also opt, and I did, for the ice cold Pacifico that’s on tap. If you’re not a beer drinker, they also have all the sodas and Mexican drinks (Orange Bang, Horchata, etc.) on tap as well.
Plenty of seating inside and they are OPEN LATE!
Go in with an appetite and leave with a gut ache!

So amazing, the Tamale was soooo delish and large, most places I go back and get another but not here!

This is like the place you go cuz you’re starving, but you wouldn’t recommend it to anyone or bring anyone here. Basically I just come here with my roommate and we split the huge burrito and gorge on free chips and salsa. Also it’s across the street from the laundromat if I’m waiting.
I’m not picky though. 3 stars mainly cuz everyone but the cool old guy always suck at cutting the burrito in half and it falls apart. The old man is og and when he cuts it it never falls apart. He needs to take the rest of the staff to cutting school.

I went here twice with my brother and depending on what you order it’s alright. The first visit I got a chicken burrito which was fine. The second visit I got a breakfast burrito, which was awful (the eggs were burnt and the beans made a gross mess) and a chicken tamale, which was fine. The rice tasted terrible. I don’t know what the fuck they put in it but it was nasty. Also, the black beans tasted like they were cooked in hose water.
On the plus side, I’ve heard their quesadillas are good and they have terrific chips and salsa.

Great food, every time. The guys who work here get your order done quickly, and you cannot beat the price. They also serve beer here which is great for a fast food place! My favorite are their breakfast burritos. They use black beans instead of refried, and it honestly seems much more healthier than any other breakfast burrito I have had. But of course, this is the one without the meat option.
Overall, I will definitely be coming here for those mexican food cravings when I am on a budget.

Very nice stuff, free chips and salsa, food is just awesome … I ordered burrito especial — so big — u can’t finished. They also have so many choices of salsa, everything here is made from the scratch and fresh, im very happy with this cantina

Sunday morning rolling out of bed. Me: «Honey, do you want menudo?» Wife: «YES» Me: «O.K., Ya me voy a Los Primos»
So I roll up, soup pot in hand and order a 3 – 4 orders of menudo. Make sure you tell them you want corn or «hominy» or else they will give it to you mexican style with just «meat». Good flavor and the pack you up all the fixings. Cilantro, lemon, oregano, onion, even tortillas. Wait!!! real Mexican food in Huntington Beach? ORALE.
