We had a great experience eating lunch here while on vacation, we were down from Seattle with friends and we’re looking for a place to eat lunch before heading to the beach. The nachos were amazing! My son had the pizza, my husband had a chicken sandwich and my girlfriends mother had sliders we all left full and more than satisfied.

Ali was our server and she was beyond fantastic! She had a great attitude and kept my champagne glass full. I love their food and atmosphere, it’s also great for your dogs on the patio. I’ll be back many times!

Came here for brunch on a busy Saturday. Wait was about 25 minutes, but it was worth it. Their menu is large, and 100% comfort food. There are options for vegetarians and us gluten free d.b.‘s as well. I had a delicious breakfast. I didn’t have any adult beverage while I was there, but the blood marys look incredible, and I definitely want to come back and try one. The servers there are EXTREMELY attentive and helpful. Prices are pretty good for a great portion as well. Can’t wait to come back. One note about the place is the parking on the weekends was nuts. Mama’s is in the same lot as several other popular spots. It was VERY crowded and tempers flared. Witnessed more than one occurrence of road rage. People need to chill and remember they’re about to eat something delicious.

Everything was amazing! There was a bit of a wait so we went next door for a drink but they texted us and I would say worth the wait. 13.95 for bottomless mimosas. Tons of food options! The French toast is amazing!

You know sometimes you love a place when you first go there. You talk it up to friends; think wistfully about the food and the staff; and can’t wait to return. Then you do go back and it’s very much an «eh?» or a «what did I like about this place?» sort of thing. Mama’s is NOT one of those places. Today’s return visit was as good as, maybe even better than, the first time around. The pancakes truly are wondrous; they need nothing added(no fruit compote, no whipped topping, nothing); they are perfect; as light and fluffy and delicious as can be. The chicken ‘n’ waffles were great last time, the bacon biscuit sliders this time were devine. The chicken florentine could have done with a tastier cheese, but was still really good. The service was again excellent. They are super accommodating to folks with dogs(AAA+ just for that) and to a big party of 16(on Father’s Day no less; note: not our table). If you are talking a trip to the(dog) beach, Mama’s is the place to go! Boom!

Service is an after thought. Eaten here, been here for ice cream, and even had an event or two here. Food is average and service is below average– not much else I can say.

Patrick is so great! He is attentive he knows the menu very well and is such a great server ! He is a ball of sunshine seriously I’ve never had such a enthusiastic server, but not the fake kind of enthusiasm the kind that just shows he loves his job, this place has the best energy I love it here ! Food: 10⁄10 Ordered a chicken and waffles– huge proportions. Service: 8⁄10 a little slow, we waited about 30 minutes after ordering. We also ordered«bottomless» fries(I assumed they’re unlimited from the name?) but we were never offered more :/ Parking: 10⁄10 lots of parking spaces since it’s located in a big plaza, easy to find since its big and in the corner. Price: a little pricey 9⁄10 even though the proportions were big, this is one place I would only go to if I had a ton of money I wanted to spend for brunch. For only 2 items the bill came to be $ 34 without tip.

This amazing joint can be found on the corner of Beach and Atlanta. They serve breakfast all day, have a bar and also unlimited mimosas. I ordered the Korean BBQ burrito which was served with a small side of pico de gallo. AMAZING. Unfortunately, we were only in the area for business so the likelihood of me returning is fairly low. Regardless, loved my experience here. (Visited 06÷10÷1611:00AM)

Fried chicken and waffles… So good! Kids meal prices a bit steep for what you get. We came for the chicken and waffles and they did not disappoint.

Cadice was superb!(I hope I spelled her name right!!) she was very attentive to my friend and I and really kept up with our drinks and food. Super friendly, made us feel really welcomed. If it was just based on service and hers alone, definitely 5⁄5! Pizza was delicious and so were the drinks! Reasonably priced. Would come here again

Super fun family brunch spot. Food: 3.5, Service: 4, Atmosphere: 5 Cost to worth it rating: 3(tots app $ 12, Benedict $ 13, kids $ 8) Opentable-able: no, kid’s menu: yes(with 8 choices and crayons to draw on the paper placemat) Return worthiness: yes Highlights: — Korean pork cheesy tater tots: never heard of this before and was a huge pile of tater tots and shredded meat and cheese on top. 4 stars — Brunch beverages: bourbon chocolate shake, bottomless mamosa, and huge Bloody Mary are some of the options. — Atmosphere: fun with silly sayings on the menu(mama’s gotta fit into her jeans) and happy grandma pics holding a big cocktail — HUGE menu: one of those large laminated colorful ones with photos — Breakfast anytime: always a plus — Fried chicken and waffles: decent rendition. 3 stars — Benedict with squash and ham hash: interesting twist with soft biscuits but gravy could’ve used a bit more flavor. 3 stars Lowlights: — No reservations: gotta take your chances if it’s a crowded time. More than I expected for a strip mall restaurant and I’ll be back.

Its 3 Stars, but its not mediocre! I finally dropped by here after having gone to Sealegs next door, and Caffe Caldo close by in the same strip mall. However, I honestly thought Mama’s was an ice cream store because of the Thrifty sign. Mama’s on 39 serves a wide menu all day, and has a full bar. The 39 refers to Beach Blvd, where Mama’s is located on the corner of Atlanta in HB. I was in the mood for sweet & savory vs all savory, so I ordered the chicken & waffles($ 14.95). It was served w/a side of gravy. First of all, the chicken needed more seasoning. I was expecting a flavor burst, but the chicken was bland. Nonetheless, it wasn’t greasy, it was moist, and had nice skin: 3 Stars. Likewise, I was expecting the waffle to have more flavor. It too was bland, but could have been helped by warm maple syrup vs what I received in a squirt bottle: 3 Stars. Mama’s was not as good as Roscoe’s, or the best I’ve had on the West Coast, Brown Sugar Kitchen in West Oakland. Regarding the ambiance, its very nice. There is a U-shaped bar to your left that has a view of the 3 large TVs. Towards the rear is a large dining area. Mama’s is popular w/the locals because it was a full house @ 9:30 on a Sun: 4 Stars. The male bartender was super cool, and the food came out quickly. In addition, the staff was friendly and had a smile on their face: 4 Stars. I’d return to try something else, or have a drink. I’ll just manage my expectations for what Mama’s is: A nicer version of Norm’s w/a bar!

Very cool place. The walls are filled with plenty of pictures and art. Lots of tables and seating available. The staff is also fast and generous. Ordered Items: Mac and Cheese, homemade potato chips and mike’s chicken salad. We came here with intention to have Mac and Cheese, so we ordered from the kids menu and made it a large order. We also added a salad for the mac and Cheese and the bottomless homemade potatoes chips. The Salad was nice and big with lots of chicken and just the perfect amount of vinaigrette. The homemade potatoes were also delicious, served with a side of blue cheese. The Mac and cheese wasn’t the greatest. It was missing flavor. We were a bit disappointed with that, but we were very satisfied with the salad and chips. Overall most of our orders were good. We didn’t get a chance to taste more things in the menu, so we will be back. The service was fast and the restaurant is was very nice. We will be back.

I wanted to find a place for brunch before a walk at the pier in Huntington Beach. This place is not exactly in the beach area but its about two miles inland. Once we arrived inside we were already welcomed and got seated right away. Their menu is like a newspaper, its easy to read items and descriptions that makes you want to order lots. They offer a good variety of starters, breakfast, pizza, burgers, seafood, booze, Thrifty Ice Cream, etc. Its a nice sunny morning for a beach outting and in the mood for a cocktail and a burrito. The wife and I shared a Hash-a-Burrito and we went big in the«kitchen sink» option. At $ 15.95 I was really disappointed with this choice because it wasn’t tasty at all. It’s mentioned on the menu that it has«Korean style BBQ steak» and that caught my eye. Yes, this burrito is packed with ham, chicken sausage, bacon, eggs, potatoes, avocado, onions, and white cheddar, but I felt everything was just thrown in and then wrapped with tortilla. The side salsa didn’t help at all spreading them on every bite of the way. I normally don’t sprinkle black peppers on burritos but it was flavorless, what happened here? no seasoning? This burrito was bland and mediocre, I guess Mama doesn’t know her«Snit» for this one. At $ 4.99 I ordered the Mai Tai it tasted flat and was more on the sweet side. We ordered from kids menu the Sausage, Egg and Potatoes for our son and the portions was okay but at $ 7.99 it was the priciest I’ve seen for that kind of meal. One entrée, one kids meal, a coffee and cocktail, the tab totaled around $ 35. Its overpriced and I felt tourist trapped. The highlight here was the friendly service. Our waitress was willing to fill in our Cup of Joe even though the mug was more than half full. Inside its spacious and there is a full bar. You will see as part of their décor a wall photos of mom’s probably from nearby communities. This place looks fun and family friendly oriented. I would recommend trying to catch their specials like Kid’s Eat Free Thursdays and Happy Hour.

Ok, so let me just say, this place has a fantastic brunch selection. I’ve had pretty much everything on their menu, but my absolute favorites are the breakfast pizza(life is good when you can put all your fave breakfast meat on one cheesy pizza pie) and the giant waffle with bananas, candied pecans, walnuts, Nutella, and a scoop of Thrifty ice cream. If you want diabetes but feel good about it, make sure you get this waffle ;) another big draw for this place is that they have bottomless garlic fries which are crispy and not overwhelmingly garlicky. Plus they are bottomless! It usually gets packed pretty quickly for brunch so I recommend getting there early. Despite the brunch traffic, service is pretty attentive and I like that a manager comes by to check on you at least once during your meal. The reason I’m docking a star is because of the dinner I had which was prime rib and veggies. The veggies were mushy and had bland, and the prime rib was just a sorry slab of meat. It did not seem to be cooked evenly and parts of the meat were surprisingly tough despite me requesting for it to be cooked rare. Overall I would absolutely come back for brunch, but I would go elsewhere for lunch or dinner food.

Wow. What a neat and YUMMY place! We usually depend on Unilocal for food suggestions when we are away on business, vacationing, you name it. UnilocalERS: Right on! Thanks for this suggestion! We went to Mama’s for Sunday brunch last time we were down in Huntington Beach and when we walked in I was delightedly surprised that they had Thrifty Ice cream there! Such a cool, nostalgic, blast back to my childhood. We were seated in about 10 minutes which wasn’t bad considering the buzz around this place. I am a bloody mary fan, so I tried their Mama Mary and it was pretty good. I didn’t drink the beer back though because I am not a fan of beer. Yucky. The Mama Mary could have been more spicy but that’s my personal preference. I ended up ordering their Biscuit Sliders which were bacon biscuits with egg and bacon. They were good, but a little dry until I scooped up some of my husbands gravy and added it to the sliders. Exactly what was needed. It was super yummy with the Gravy! My husband tried their chicken and waffles and he loved it. My daughter kept eating the chicken off of his plate because she loved it so much. The waffles were super tasty too. We had started with some tots with cheese, bacon, sour cream and they were pretty good as well. We had just experienced some AMAZEBALL tots in Maui and they didn’t quite compare but they were a close second. All in all, a great experience and we will be back again, maybe next time we will get some ice cream if we aren’t too full again.
