Rick Baer Training Stables

My daughter has been riding a few years now at different stables in surrounding OC areas. We happened to come across Rick Baer Stables which was much closer to home for us and thought lets give it a try. From day one I could see the level in training they give here compared to other places we have been. Ally is amazing, patient, sweet as can be and over all a great trainer. The horses for the lessons are wonderful, sweet and gentle. Taking lessons here really makes you feel like the lesson horses are yours from the start to finish which my daughter loves. You do it all here which is really what owning a horse is about, not just showing up and having the horse ready for you to ride. I want to give a huge THANK YOU to Ally for being such an inspiration to my daughter. She has really grown quickly in her riding skills due to the great trainers and can not wait for her next lesson each time.

When I met Rick about 7 years ago, I was new to the world of horses and really didn’t know much. I had taken lessons for several years but it wasn’t until I purchased my horse Toby that I learned just how much I didn’t know. I continued to take lessons with Toby, but he started to develop a serious case of barn sour and didn’t want to be ridden anymore. He would buck, rear, spin and kick out at me anytime I would take him away from his stall. It got to a point where I hated to ride and was scared that he was going to hurt me or someone else if I didn’t get him under control. That’s when I was introduced to Rick by one of his employees and as they say the rest is history. He helped to teach me how I needed to set boundaries for Toby. He also had Toby out five days a week training him under saddle and working on his ground manors so that he learned that his out of control behavior was unacceptable. With a lot of patience and discipline, Rick was able to break both Toby and my bad habits and today Toby is a pleasure to ride and is a true gentleman. I can safely say that without Rick’s help, I would never have been able to keep, let alone ride Toby. I am truly grateful for his help then and his continued help today.

If Rick says to do it, I do it! He has my horse in training and daycare. He also cares for the Therapeutic Riding Center’s horses that are used for adults and children with disabilities. I would mot have anyone else care for my personal horse or the TRC horses. He is an amazing trainer and his instructors are great with adults and children. I recommend his business with all disciplines. He is especially good with problem horses.

Worst experience ever I had rick train my horse for a few months and then noticed how awful he is to the horses when the owners are not around. He is a jerk and very rude and feels he has the right to treat everyone like they are beneath them. He also has his dog running around the rows and plays ball which is not safe at all. If anyone complains about him the equestrian center does nothing about it and I do not know why. I feel he loves thinking he owns the place and this is just wrong .if you board at the center be sure to ask around about rick you will see he has no fans at this place. No stars to rick I wish they had big zeros but Unilocal makes you give at least one star which rick does not deserve

I moved to CA from Oklahoma where we had world class reining trainers on every corner. I wanted to find a good trainer to help me, but more importantly, to work with my blind reining horse. I knew that would be tough since many trainers won’t mess with a horse like mine. Rick not only took on the challenge, but turned my adequate blind horse into a horse that qualifed for the Jack Baker and has won several classes. I have a 2^nd horse with Rick now and he is doing equally amazing things with her. I would recommend Rick if you want to get your reiner ready to show or your non-​show horse safer and more confident. His assistants, Kendal and Jamie are amazing with my horses, and they always are clean and well cared for.
