Stopped by this place while in the area, excited about the famed lobster rolls. Unfortunately when I showed up for the day around 1:30−2 they were already out of the lobster rolls for the day. I switched to the fish tacos, one grilled and one fried. They were HUGE and delish. Overall I was happy I stopped here for lunch, but wish I could have tried to lobster. Maybe next time!

I’ve heard people raving about this place and I wanted to find out for myself what kept people coming back. Coming when the restaurant opened, there was a few people and a short wait. When looking at their menu, there are many options to choose from. I decided to go with the Lobster Roll because it was what they are known for. Lobster Roll 8⁄10. The dish is ABSOLUTELY delicious. The freshness in the lobster is very tasty with the sauce added into it. The presentation is very nice and easy to eat without the sandwich falling apart. The only thing is it is much smaller than expected. I would have liked more lobster on it. This will not get you full so I recommend ordered more food to satisfy your appetite. I will be back for happy hour just because the items available are a great deal!

Three words: lobster breakfast burrito. This place is worth the food pilgrimage from LA to Huntington Beach. You will not be disappointed. The food is not only mouthwateringly Instagram worthy, but it also(amazingly) tastes even better than it looks.

I was debating if I should order the Fish Taco or The Lobster Roll… Hmmm I went with the Fish Taco. Me: how many fish tacos in an order? Cashier: just one, but it is huge, trust me… Me: okay. One fish taco it is and a cup of clam chowder So the fish taco came out. The cashier was right, the taco was HUGE. The fish was lightly battered and crisp. It was perfect and the Clam Chowder was amazing, not watery at all and so creamy. I would get it next time without the bacon. Fish Taco got me feeling…

Food was okay. Service was TERRIBLE. Here’s the situation — We ordered the grilled cheese, burger, and got a free chowder toast with a Unilocal check in. Set the table number down and waited by watching the football games. Had 2 servers come up to ask asking«is this yours?» With 4 different items… Clearly there’s no point of a having a number if you have to ask us what our order is. We get our grilled cheese 15 minutes later. We wait another 10 minutes before asking where our burger is. The guy blames the kitchen for not making it. We get our burger 30 minutes later so the guy offers us a chowder toast for our wait. We told we already got a free one for checking in on Unilocal. He comes back 10 minutes later throwing it on the table, giving us no fork. I came all the way from San Diego to have a good trip in this area. All Slapfish had to do was offer some decency. Never coming back.

Finally happened to make it in… and just in time for Slappy Hour(3−5pm)! This was my first time in, so I was excited to get my teeth into a lobster roll, which unfortunately they were out of. =(They did offer a crab roll, which I normally probablh would’ve ordered because I loooooove crab — but I’ve had crab dishes all week and was kind of over crab at the moment. Fortunately with Slappy Hour, we were able to try out the fish sandwich, fish taco, chowder fries, clam chowder, shrimp bowl, and soda — all of that, for just a smidge more than what I would have paid for the lobster roll alone! =) Everything was delicious! C H O W D E R. F R I E S: I’m not much of a fan of New England Clam Chowder, and even worse of a fan with bacon added into it(I haaaate chowder + bacon) — but the chowder fries were decent. Next time I’ll request for the fries to be well-done so it holds up to the chowder vs. sogging up. F I S H. S A N D W I C H: Opted for grilled fish. From the bread, to the fish, to the veggies, and Awesome Sauce — this sandwich was absolutely delicious! I’d totally get this again, slappy hour or not! F I S H. T A C O: Went with fried fish on this one. Boy, for the price — this taco was pretty massive! Lots of shredded cabbage as well. Regardless of the fish being fried, I thought it had a good balance — not too heavy, and just enough to fill you up for the next hour. S H R I M P. B O W L: For $ 5 — get it. Its good! They also have a Craft Soda Fountain here. I’m not much of a soda drinker, but I couldn’t resist the Shirley Temple they have on tap! (9÷100, 2016)

My first experience wasn’t the greatest as I didn’t even try anything. We came around 3PM and waited to get our order taken and the cashier was busy looking down tending to something else. I was fine waiting, but halfway as she started looking up, she blurts out«What do you want?» then quickly stutters and corrects herself to ask if we were ready to order/what we would like to order in a more polite manner. I was really looking forward to trying out the lobster roll, so of course I order that and they were out of lobster… what?! — and wouldn’t have gotten lobster for another 2 – 3 hours. We were hungry and on vacation, so we didn’t have time to wait around, so we just left.): We decided to come back on our last day and I’m glad we did. This experience was more pleasant, as our cashier was much nicer and more attentive, and of course they had lobster. I tried the lobster roll chilled with lemon mayo and it was very good. It came with fries, which were your basic cut fries. If you check-in, you also receive a free chowder toast at this location. As for the size of the lobster roll, it was mediocre for the price, but we all know lobster rolls don’t come cheap. /: However, it really does taste amazing, so if you want to splurge, definitely treat yourself to Slapfish!

Eh I went here recently and just wasn’t feeling it as much as the last time. The menu has also changed. I ordered clam chowder without bacon and some chowder fries. Both were pretty disappointing to be honest. The clam chowder was a little bland for my liking. There was barely any clams, mostly just milky, watery, chowder. It also contained too much potatoes which I absolutely hate. As for the chowder fries, it was basically fries with clam chowder on top, topped with some bacon and chives. I hated that the fries were not crispy on the outside. It also contained way too much potatoes. I really was not feeling either dish and didn’t finish both. However, I’ve always been a fan of their lobster rolls and lobster grill cheese. The lobster grilled cheese that my friend got was very good. Both the rolls and grill cheese comes with fries. I think pricing is pretty cheap. The clam chowder and chowder fries were about $ 6 each. All the rolls and sandwiches are about $ 12-$ 15. Fish plates are market price. I like that they have a huge variety of drinks here. Specialty ones too. Service was fine. Girl at the register was not so friendly. The guys who gave us our food were super friendly and sweet. The inside is small but lots of tables. I would say it’s a great lunch place if you want some quick, cheap seafood.

***3.5 stars*** This is a review for their clam chowder fries and fish tacos. Pros + clam chowder fries — very tasty — generous bacon bites — fries could use more crispness — I enjoyed this more than I did the fish tacos + nice ambience — sea like feel Cons + very hyped on Instagram + fish tacos — fish filet had a very light coating of tempura — unique with fresh ingredients but it didn’t give me a wow factor. maybe I’m biased because I’d prefer the traditional fish tacos at Mexican shops in San Diego. I’d like to come back during happy hour and try other stuff on the menu. Hoping it’s as good as others describe it.

Wanted to give lobster rolls another try since my first try was at a theme park restaurant and it didn’t taste too good. Came here. We’ve been eating all day… but determined to shove more into my stomach! We ordered the lobster roll. There were three different ways to get it: hot with butter, cold with awesome sauce, and I forgot the other one. I think cold with some sort of lemon? We chose to get it cold with the awesome sauce. The sauce was… well, awesome of course. Not sure what it was, but it was orangey. The lobster was good and the bread kinda tasted like a sweet roll or like pan de sal. The roll itself was itty bitty and was at market price which was $ 21, not including tip. Good thing we were still full from our previous meal. The roll came with cajun fries. Not a huge fan of chubby fries. They weren’t that soft either. Free chowder toast with check-in which was the size of half a piece of spam. Had clam chowder drizzled all over it with bits of bacon. I don’t usually like lobster… but this was good!

If you don’t want to spend too much, it’s best to come during slappy hour!(M-th 3 – 5&8-close). It was pretty crowded when I came at 8, but we didn’t have to wait too long. It was also Tuesday so they also had a taco & beer deal — $ 2 petite fish tacos(about half the size of an ultimate) and $ 2 beers. The girl at the register said the petite tacos were easier to eat than the ultimate so me and the bf just grabbed four of those, along with a couple of other slappy hour items. Petite(fried) fish tacos: $ 2 each; was okay, nothing too amazing Chowder toast(free with Unilocal check-in): toast with chowder, topped with bacon. Eat this right away before it gets soggy! Free things are always nice :) Lobster dip and chips(same as creamy lobster dip on original menu): $ 3, usually $ 5.50; probably my favorite thing that we got! Chowder fries: $ 3, usually $ 6.50; fries drenched in chowder topped with bacon. These get soggy pretty quickly as well. I like to add a bit of Tabasco to give it a little kick Drink: cane soda, not bad ~ had flavors like black cherry and Shirley Temple along with originals such as cola and lemon lime Ended up being about $ 18 for the two of us and we were both stuffed! Service was really good, they were really knowledgeable and helpful when ordering and explained everything to us. I’ll be back to try the lobster rolls and other items ~~ eventually

More like 4.5 stars. My gf and I came here after being intrigued by reviews of a Banh Mi Burrito. When we arrived, we were told by the worker that that menu item was a limited edition item… but we need arrive smack dab at the start of slappy hour! Slappy Hour is Mon-Thurs(3−5pm) & every day 8pm-close(menu kind of phrases it to seem like the«8pm-close» portion is only Mon-Thurs, but its actually EVERYDAY). We ended up getting the Surf n Turf Burger(comes with fries), the Ultimate Fish Taco, and the Lobster Dip & Chips. Oh, and don’t forget the mini-appetizer from your check-in offer of a little chowder toast. We loved the Lobster Dip & Chips, which had a little spice on it, and the Surf n Turf Burger, but thought the Ultimate Taco was just decent; we didn’t care too much for the tortilla. Either way, a very generous portion of lobster on everything! Not sure if it was because it was almost closing time, or if that’s how it always is… but no complaints here! There are also a ton of hot sauces and other various sauces on the counter for you to spruce up your meal. The service was pretty helpful — recommended our dishes to us and greeted us upon entrance, and parking wasn’t difficult to find in the private plaza lot. Not sure why this chain isn’t more popular, but they should definitely expand more inland to where I live!

I absolutely loved our experience here! The restaurant is very casual and the menu has so many amazing options that I would have to keep coming back to try everything. You get free chowder toast upon Unilocal check-in, and the two main things we came here for were the lobster roll and fish and chips. When you’re in a beach town, so we figured, why not? We enjoyed everything(the toast, not so much, as it got soggy so I recommend eating it right away, haha). The fries that came with the two dishes had cajun seasoning on them too. We loved the Southern/New Orleans feel to the menu, and the great customer service is going to keep us coming back to try more food! They also have Happy Hour, but this time we were too full to try it, but I’m excited to check it out: D

Five star for the Huntington Beach slapfish location! I was blown away by this location. The food & service was exceptional and I would definitely recommend this location if you want the full experience of what Slapfish has to offer. SERVICE: Amber was super helpful and patient. They have so many different items that all look yummy so it can be a little difficult to pick what you want. She was so friendly and explained the items too which I appreciated. FOOD: I got the lobster grilled cheese with a side salad. If you love cheese and lobster you will love this delightful sandwich. The cheese oozing out with chunks of lobster meat made my heart and tummy so happy. I also enjoyed the salad which came with plenty of veggie topics. It was a plentiful side salad I must say. Also tried the lobster roll with a side of chowder fries. Prepare to be in heaven. The roll is so good, I liked the sauce as well the flavors went well together. I loved the chowder fries. The combination of French fries and warm creamy chowder was quite comforting. The chowder toast is also another dish you would want to try if you are in a clam chowder mood! It’s really filling but too good to pass up. I also tried the sugar cane sodas. In my opinion the pink lemonade was made just right! Overall I rate this location five stars. Thanks slapfish for a great experience, I can’t wait to come back for more :)

My friend and I decided to eat in the OC last week because we all know some of the best eats are out there. We heard great things about Slapfish so we decided to try it out! Finally. We shared the chowder fries which I la la loooooved! First of all, I love clam chowder so you can’t really mess that up. The fries were crisp even though chowder was all over it. The chowder itself was perfect. Not soupy at all. It was creamy and hot and perf. We both ordered fried fish tacos. Ok, so think of a normal sized fish taco and multiply that by 3. Maybe 3.5 because that thing is gigantic. I didn’t know how to use my hands at that point and it all fell apart. So that was a yummy mess. But still a mess. The fish was super crispy and light and perfectly made. I did the check-in for the chowder toast. Again, chowder was awesome and the toast was soft but toasty around the edges. Even though this place is self seating, the cashier would come to check on us. Love that! Would recommend and would come back if it didn’t take almost an hour to get here. Build a Slapfish in Pasadena, pls thx.

I think I was SLAP’ed in the face by a FISH Not the desired results I was looking for when a friend asked if I wanted to join her in trying out this place. I had the Laguna Beach location bookmarked for-EVA so when I heard there was a closer location in HB I was all in. We met up for lunch or an early din-din I can’t remember but it was still light out. We walk in and I’m ALLEXCITED! The place was pretty empty so SCORE we picked a GREATTIME to come. We perused the menu and decided we would share a few items to be able to try more items and kill a few fish with one stone. My co-eater really wanted the clam chowder so item one was already selected. We both wanted to try the lobster roll and I saw or she saw this clobster grill cheese sand which was a crab and lobster combo sand and we went with that. The Lobster Roll came with fires and slaw and the clam chowder so since we were splitting the bill down the middle we had already saved $ 3 buck-a-roos each for a total of $ 6 bucks. SCORE! The lobster roll comes with two different types of sauce to select from and we went with lemon mayo because the other we heard was spicy of which we are both wimps so we didn’t want to go in that direction. The next item we order with the clobster grill cheese which also came with fries and slaw. Not sure when fries because the new filler food but they seem to come with any combo these days. Plus I’m pretty selective when it comes to slaw as well so I don’t usually like to order it but I had hopes it would be ok. Now the kicker here with the clobster grill sand is the MP «Made-up Price»! When EVA you see MP hold on to your purses and wallets because it’s gonna cost ya and it did. A whopping $ 20 for a SAND, filler fries and wet cabbage. We also threw in a couple of drinks to wash it all down, paid and went to find a seat. First the clam chowder came out NICE and HOT and I thought it was pretty good but I’ve had better! No complaints its soup and it had flavor and some chunks of clam in it and I think potato too. Next we spit the lobster roll and again ok. The lemon mayo didn’t wow me and the lobster didn’t have much flavor almost like it was cooked in JUST water not any kind of seasoning or butter. So again I WASN’T WOW’D! The fries and slaw were standard nothing too special stood out to me. On to the next selection of the clobster and I didn’t care for it! I would have rather had the regular lobster sand. It was a bit fishy and way too grease-a-fied for my taste! Anytime my tummy is getting a coating of grease that is NEVER a GOODSIGN plus I usually end up feeling and TASTING it the rest of the day. NOBUENO! So NOT what I was looking for taste wise! The entire meal was just ok! Nothing about it said«GOBACK» and it been a few months now! Probably like 6 months. It actually fell off my radar until I heard the name come up for a place to go after hiking. I quickly made another suggestion to the group. That alone tells me I wasn’t impressed with this place at all and I LOVE seafood! In NOLA you grow up feeling like it’s a food group. So to be so disappointed sort-a bummed me out. I really wanted to like this place but I think I was clobbered by the clobster!

Arrived here on a Thursday for lunch. Quick service. Girl behind the counter was very nice and welcoming. Knew her stuff too. She recommended that I order the fish taco. Man that thing was delicious. The sauces and lettuce and fish. Just amazing. I would totally go back just for that. 8⁄10 I also ordered the chowder fries. I love fries. Love them. But the chowder just made everything so soggy. And the bacon bits on there were dry and hard. Yeah, that’s what I remember most… The rock hard bacon bits lol. Avoid getting the bacon on the fries. The chowder on the fries… Eh tough one. Just made it soggy. Don’t think I’d order it again. 5⁄10 Check in on Unilocal and get free chowder toast. Just bread with chowder on it. 5⁄10 Yeah stick with the fish taco because it’ll blow your mind away. But stay away from the chowder fries, as it might just blow your butthole away haha!

Well worth the $ 4 I paid during HH. I ordered it fried nice & crispy while my friend got hers grilled, we both enjoyed our tacos —bowl of shrimp: you can order this in pretty much any cooked fashion so we choose grilled. What did the fish say when he posted bail? «I’m off the hook!» Slapfish is off the freakin’ hook! I was in love with this place just by looking at photos online, and photos don’t lie, they’re under oath. Whoever invented these mythical sea sandwiches deserves to get a hug from me. Truly unheard of combinations of delicious ingredients really make these menu items that of only myths. Mythical Sea Food All I could imagine on my drive down from LA were the immense sizes of the lobster roll and lobster mac and cheese with that amazing side of bacon chowder fries. The creamy slaw like cheese oozing out of the side and down the side of your mouth like that hot chick on the Carl’s Jr commercials… no napkins needed. If it doesn’t get all over the place, it doesn’t belong in your face. These beastly sea combinations don’t shy of massive chunks of lobster, in fact they come on real strong like a high school jock at a house party. Beware…
