Surf City Pediatric Dentistry – John A. Guijon, DDS

Unilocal was not around when I visited Dr Guijon but now that I have the opportunity to share my experience I am eager to do so.
When setting appointments for my two kids, I asked if he accepted my insurance, Dr. Guijon assured me he did. After visiting his office, I received a rather large bill for services. I immediately called his office for explanation, he stated he does not accept the insurance carriers amount paid and bills patients for the difference. He went on to state he is actually an out of network provider which was not explained to me during the initial conversation with his office. There is a HUGH difference in accepting insurance and being an in or out of network provider. I paid the amount in full and advised him I would not be returning as I felt he was deceptive regarding his insurance practices. If he would have stated prior to providing services that insurance would not cover the full amount, I would have went elsewhere.
I have no issue with the dental care provided. I just could have received the same treatement at no cost at 100’s of other dentists in Orange County.

Dr. John (as my kids call him) has been their dentist since our now 15 year old was 2 years old. All three of our kids have gone to his office.
He is not only professional but respectful of each kid as an indivdual.
The office staff is great and the waiting area is fantastic for kids. My kids actually LIKE going to the dentist.
