I’ve had the pleasure of attending one of the first pop up parties Kristen (of Mad Platter Kitchen) catered in collaboration with Lark Artisan Market. I was skeptical at first because you basically sign up and have dinner with a bunch of random people who also sign up for the experience. I went with a few girlfriends, of course. Wow, it was so much fun! The décor was modern and rustic and chic, all tastefully blended. The food was
. Perfectly portioned, perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and paired with wine selected personally by Kristen to compliment her menu. The conversation and the wine flowed freely and it was refreshing to meet all of the different diners. We all had a love of food and wine in common, so there was much to talk about! If you have to an opportunity to attend one of these, try it! Before this pop up dinner, I had also had Kristen cater my baby shower. An assortment of hot finger foods, which everyone raved about. And later, once the kids were older, we started ordering cup cakes and cake pops for birthday parties as well. I can’t help but rave about her desserts, she has nailed the art of a cake pop. The formula is exact and consistent. I’ve had so many flavors and not a single one has ever received a negative comment. The frosting/​cake ratio is excellant, not too moist and not crumbly or dry. And it has this shell on the outside that is the perfect consistency. Not too hard, not too soft. I’ve tried to make them myself and can’t get that perfect shell! She is always willing to take your ideas and attempt to make them a reality. Jelly bean cake pops? Sure! Can we make them look like angry birds? Ok! I mean, really, her imagination knows no bounds and she strives to make everything perfect. I’ve now known her for years, she’s basically on my speed dial for emergency desserts and dishes for parties. I’m a busy mom of three now. she’s my secret weapon to keeping my super mom status!
