What do you do when you are road tripping to cape cod in the winter and trying to find great oysters? Unilocal, which pointed me to Naked Oysters, and we decided to give it a try. The place was not busy by any New York standard for Saturday lunch, but pretty much all tables in the front were filled, and there were quite a few people sitting at the bar. The interior walls/furniture were slightly dark, but whoever designed knew how to use lighting and décors to brighten up the place. Upon walking in, we were welcomed and seated by the lovely hostess right away. Our waiter brought out menus and water, also welcomed us with a big smile. I love the hospitality! We ordered the oyster roulette, half dozen oysters(only $ 2 each!), chilled lobsters, and fish tacos. Oyster roulette came with 6 oysters with fixings on them, and a vodka shot in the middle — whoever got the spiciest one takes the shot. The oysters were amazingly fresh, and fixings on top were spicy, vinegary, a little pickle-y, all at once, and who can say no to a little vodka! The half dozen oysters were oysters without fixings, but their mignonette was homemade and worked very well with the oysters. Next came the chilled lobsters, with shells already cracked. So easy to eat and so so fresh and succulent that I just want to eat it all day. Our least favorite was actually the fish tacos — fish was bland, pickles on top were overpowering, overall was just not good. I’m still giving this place a solid 4 because of the oysters and lobsters. Maybe next time when I’m in town, I will stick to the raw stuff on the menu, which apparently they do very well.

Great oysters, a nice menu, good options. Always specials and lovely bar! Service is always on top of things and very friendly staff. Food is delicous… can be a little on the heavy side eventhough the portions are not huge. Their dessert menu could improve but what they have is pretty decent. I’ve winged it without reservations and got a table, but a reservation won’t hurt. Good spot if you need to find parking also. lovely décor!

I always liked this place, but on our most recent trip the food was just awful and the service even worse. Not sure what happened here, but I won’t hurry back, for sure.

Unassuming, small place but do not pass it by! It’s never let us down. The host does a really great job of finding you a seat if its crowded. Both times we stood at the bar for less than 5 minutes before she had spotted a table opening up and motioned for us. LOVETHAT! There are many oyster bars you can hit up on the Cape but this one is by far the best. Ice cold, shucked right in front of you. Various combinations to try. We always get the Naked Oyster Raw Bar Sampler-jumbo shrimp, oysters and little necks to start. Super tasty! I’ve also had the Spiced Rubbed Kobe Beef as an app, for entrees – Asian Salmon twice now which is excellent Sautéed Thai Shrimp, and a lobster ravioli special. The cocktails are also very good, Headhunter, Sangria and Whiskey Smash are our favorites. I’ve told many people about this place and they continuously go back! Keep up the great work!

Service was good, atmosphere was nice but to be candid it was expensive and I wasn’t fond of the crab cakes. Oysters were small. I spent more here than I did the night before when I ordered much more food at another restaurant. If I was back in Cape Cod I pobably

Great bloody mary! Full of flavor and service at the bar, Laura, is fantastic! She recommended the mussels, and I swear, we’re stopping in again on our way off the Cape just to have them! They were amazing! My husband had the oyster stew and I had the lobster bisque… both superb! We finished with the oyster sampler and I must say they were delicious! Wow… great lunch… a totally unexpected treat on our way to Ptown!

When we couldn’t get into another restaurant we were promptly seated at the bar here. Great wine and beer list and their proprietary oysters are fantastic. We got to know the people next to us who are regulars and got an eyeful of what was to come — beautiful and tasty food. My husband had the burger and I had a spinach salad and the mussels. The only disappointment was that the description of the mussels states it comes with toast, which it didn’t, and I had to ask for bread(to sop up all that brothy goodness). Dessert was delicious and the bartenders were very friendly. A great place that I look forward to returning to the next time I am in Hyannis.

I love when you sit down with the menu and can’t decide because there are so many great options. This is the naked oyster, so because everything sounded good we each ended up ordering our own appetizer, soup and entrees and of course were stuffed, but hey that’s adventurous indecisiveness right? We walked in right at 7pm on a Saturday and just barely got in without reservations. Decorated and feels like a good date night spot or gathering with friends. Extensive wine and drinks menu too for that! Here’s what the night looked like in terms of food, all other stuff like service and atmosphere were great. Here are the winners(if on the fence between the two we went with): Lobster bisque vs clam chowder Winner: lobster bisque for the richer flavor as the chowder wasn’t quite like on Martha’s Vineyard chock full of clams and flavor layers as some places. Tuna two ways vs baked oyster sampler Winner: Tie! oyster sampler for flavor and variety and creativity. But tuna was presented beautifully as well and seared perfectly rare. Flounder and lobster vs scallops and little necks(dish names differ since I can’t really remember right now) Winner: flounder w lobster sautéed on the bed of polenta. This is for the creative combination and perfection of flounder searing. The lobster sautéed with corn and spinach was a great topping to the fish and with lots of lobster chunks all cooked to perfection. The polenta was creamy and rich and complimented the dish well. The scallops were cooked to perfection too but over all the complexity and variety of rich flavors of the flounder dish took it as well as for presentation The scallops and clams sat in an interesting broth with a slice of bok choy.

Enjoyed the sweet and creamy clam chowder. The scallops entrée was filling and prepared beautifully. Bar service was fast and friendly.

I’m struggling here because I want to give this cute Main Street restaurant four stars. It deserves it based on the quality of the food, and particularly my delicious clam chowder and caesar salad. It was perfect for a lunch combination. I gave three stars here because of the limited menu options(tends to err on the healthy side of seafood – which is fine) but particularly because of the service. My host was incredibly warm and seated me immediately. My server also was decently attentive until it came time to process the check, then she disappeared for what seemed to be 10 – 15 minutes after I indicated that I was in a hurry — and no one else much was left in the restaurant. I have no idea where she went, but the hostess finally processed my check for me after I waited patiently. Great people. Good food. Just need to be a bit more attentive based on my experience on this particular day.

Naked oyster… one would assume the oysters/calms would be out of this world, I was sorely disappointed by the quality. Boston’s neptune oyster has much better quality raw oysters and clams. We came late Thursday night and got the oishii oysters — 3 stars, great idea to make a sauce of wasabi, ginger, soy sauce. This was very different from oyster places I been to before, so props on creativity. The oysters itself were small and there were pieces of shell in the oyster which made it difficult to throughly enjoy the oyster casino baked clams– 0 stars. The baked clams were not hot and the breading tasted only like peppers. I COULDNOTFINDTHECLAM. Enough said. Lobster haddock– 5 stars Yum! The sauce, fish and lobster were perfectly cooked and all worked well together in a dish! Highly recommend! Swordfish steak– 4 stars the fish was perfectly cooked but the beet risotto threw the flavor off.

I had some of the best raw oysters here, when we made it to the place around 6 pm, the out-side tables were empty, and there’s a British bar next door filled with guests, we almost changed our plans, but my date and I really wanted oysters and lobster, their hostesses and waitresses were so nice about inviting us to hear their daily specials and taking time to chat with us about what we wanted to have for the night. The oysters with wasabi and soy sauce were grand, I didn’t even like oysters but I had to go for another dozen, my date was very happy about the lobster too. We also had pan seared scallops, but it was a bit too creamy for our taste, the local beer made it up though, it’s perfect with the seafood. The streets were so relaxing, everything was wonderful.

Torn as flavors were great/not too salty however everything was way too greasy(on par with drunk food after a night of hard partying from the college days). party of 4 stopped in for a late lunch. shared chowder, lobster bisque, burger, cobb salad, steak, mushrooms & cheese sandwich, and wild jumbo thai shrimp. restaurant is long and narrow shaped in a outdoor upscale strip mall similar to «the glen». there are televisions behind the bar and our server was pleasant.

We dined here recently on two consecutive evenings. One experience was five stars, the other four. How to rate the restaurant then since Unilocal doesn’t allow a half star? We settled on a four rating since in our opinion a five ought to be a five every time you visit. The good is very good; the oysters are very fresh(the restaurant has its own farm), big and meaty. We ate several dozen. The clam chowder is thick, slightly spicy and filled with small clams not potatoes. The beef carpaccio is just plain delicious. Add in tuna tartare(so yummy!) and a Vermont cheese platter and you are feeling fine. The drinks are well made, and we found the service extraordinarily good and friendly. The four: service was very, very slow and uneven. The oysters were again to die for and the swordfish pleasingly prepared with a light crust and moist inside. The crab cake, however, was a little on the bland side, and the Caesar salad had a few too many pieces of tired romaine. The rest of the meal was fine, a solid four stars. We’d definitely go back, but we wonder a little about consistency?

This is hands down my favorite place on Main Street in Hyannis. I have come several times and had several variations of raw oysters as well as their oyster Rockefeller. The one I enjoyed the most was probably a little Welfleet oyster with caviar, a bit of wasabi and some pickled ginger– wow! The décor is intriguing and comfortable; it sets a good tone for someone whom you’re trying to impress. The drinks are strong, the menu is reasonably priced(for the quality), and there’s a variety of oysters available that can rival the menu of Legal Seafood. I unfortunately had to deduct 1 star because nearly every time I’ve been here the service has been slow. Call me a snob, but even at prime time there’s no excuse for inefficiency. Hire more people!

Smaller place adjoined to Purtitan. Yes it’s attached to a clothing store, but when you’re in the restaurant, you can’t tell. I’ve only ever been here for lunch, but there food has always been well prepared. One of my go to lunch spots for a food salad on Main Street. The salmon they put on is huge, has to be an almost 10oz serving! PS: Great Bloody Mary’s!

It just so happened we were lucky enough to go here during Cape Cod restaurant week so we each went with the 4 course pre-fixe($ 35/person). We sat at the sleek bar while waiting for our table and my eyes were undressing the raw oyster bar the entire time. Too bad they were already naked! These little gems apparently come from the restaurant’s own oyster farm at Barnstable Bay. Sold. We started with those and they were by far the best oysters I had while visiting the Cape. And I ate a lot of oysters on that trip. For the first course of the pre-fixe, we went with the Chatham mussels and apple pistachio bisque. I could probably count the number of mussels on one hand, but it was clearly meant to be a teaser. The apple bisque, on the other hand, was a generous portion. A little too sweet for the lady but perfect for me. For round two, we went with the beet salad, which I loved, and the baby spinach salad. Though simple, the spinach was light and refreshing. For the entrée course, the swordfish was a little overcooked and thus dry. I had the Cape Cod pappardelle(local littlenecks, mussels, and diver scallops sauteed with fava beans in a sherry pan sauce garnished Pecorino Romano). This was awesome, and it was the first time I ever had black pappardelle, which made for a great color contrast with all the seafood. For dessert, the strawberry short cake didn’t blow me away, but the chocolate hazelnut pannacotta was bangin’. The total came to just over $ 140 before tip, but to be fair, our bottle of Trimbache to pair with the meal made up for about 25% of the total. Side note: Amy was an awesome server. Ask for her.
