The best Mexican food around the state. Fresh and added healthy foods. For some reason the service wasn’t good today. Only 5 tables in the whole restaurant were being served. The servers didn’t smile much, «how is your food?», and took 20 minutes to get our drinks. But the food made up for it!

I had a combination plate: the chile rellano was supposed to be crunchy and was saturated in very old oil(from the taste of it, they haven’t changed their frying oil in at least 6 months), the enchilada was lackluster, the beans were bland, I asked for a side of green chili and it was smothered rather sparsely across my meal, the server was rushed and the place really wasn’t that busy, the fajita vegetables came from a frozen mix… The tamale was good and the hostess was sweet, efficient and hard working. Not looking forward to the drive home… Or the digestive distress later. Scratch that… Now!

Authentic, delicious food, yummy house margaritas(available in small, medium, large and ginormous!) Had a lovely dinner and great service! My husband knows what he likes(aka-he’s a bit persnickety) and Nisa went above and beyond to make our dining experience great! Oh-and the fried ice cream is «slap your Mama» good!(Sorry-from the south here ;)

Stop by for the great salsa and The unbelievable mushroom and spinach enchiladas! Even if you’re not a vegetarian, they are amazing, with fresh spinach and delectable mushrooms. Friendly waitstaff, thoroughly enjoyable!

Good service, good food and great location on the main street of Idaho Springs. The fajitas were generous and tasty. The chimichanga was very good. The fried ice cream was so good, we wish we started with that.

Where to eat when you are coming down the mountain and don’t feel like Tommyknockers/bar food?(and, you don’t love pizza, so BeauJo’s isn’t an option)??? AZTECA. My friend, her kid, and I wanted something a little different this time. Mexican sounded like it would hit the spot after spending a day shredding/skiing. So glad we found this spot. We were greeted and seated immediately, with a basket of hot chips and flavorful salsa on our table within seconds of sitting down. I was pleased as punch that they serve both crispy and soft chile rellenos, so I ordered a combo that included a tamale, a soft relleno, and an enchilada. Yeah, yeah, I couldn’t finish the plate, but let me tell you, I certainly enjoyed every bite that i managed to stuff down my gullet. I asked for the relleno and tamale to be smothered in green chile($ 1 upcharge) and it was worth it. The relleno was soft and not too cheesy, resulting in a balance between the poblano and cheese flavors. The tamale was spicy. The enchilada… uh, I didn’t get there. My friends seemed to be satisfied by their entrees too(they both got enchiladas, one traditional red, one suiza).

Genial la atención. La comida llego rapido, los platos mas que abundantes y muy bien presentados. No es una opcion barata, pero comparado con otros restaurants de la zona de precios similares, se come mas y mejor. Super recomendable.

Great Mexican food! Love the cabbage salsa! Sooo yummy. Their beans are great too. Pretty good service. Been here 5 times and only had a bad service experience once. Never with the food though. Try something you wouldn’t normally try! It’ll be worth it.

Typical Mexican restaurant. Not AMAZING but considering it’s a restaurant in a small town in the middle of the Rockies, the food was good. Stopped by on our way from Keystone to Denver and it’s conveniently located(less than 5 minutes off of I70) and the service was fast and friendly. Much better alternative than the typical fast-food eateries. Would go again.

Pretty good food. Very americanized Mexican food, if that makes sense? I’d definitely come again if i were to go through town again! Wonderful service and very quick.

Went here for dinner and the food was very good. One of the best fish tacos I’ve had. Margaritas were tasty. Our server was very friendly. We had a voucher for $ 20 from Indian Hot Springs so that made it even better. If you’re looking for some good Mexican food at decent prices, this is the place

Amazing authentic Mexican cuisine nestled in Downtown /main street of Idaho springs small town in the Mts of Colorado which came as our life Saver after white water rafting on perilous crystal creek river, hours after lunch time and starving. The chips with Pico De Gallo and salsa had an amazing flavor and packed quite a spicy kick! Paired with huge $ 3 margaritas, theres no way this place is getting any lower than a 4 star. You should see the size of their big Margarita! Its huge! I had LA aztecha burrito W pulled beef, Verde sauce with Guac, sour cream, beans, and an awesome cheesy sauce and it was so good. The broiled chicken taco salad was also amazing and a hearty portion. This place really reminds me of Miguel’s in Tampa but with a better drinks special and really hit the spot. Its a lot like that place in Orlando I went to. The décor is traditional Mexican with plenty of booths. Service was quick and courteous. There is parking on main street on the street but they don’t have a separate parking lot. The music was a great authentic Mexican as well. The serving sizes we’re so Big i have enough for later! Thanks so much guys!

We ate lunch after going white water rafting in Idaho Springs, got a coupon from the rafting company for 10% off. This place was awesome! First thing I saw when we walked in was home made tequila??? Ok I’m all in. It was tasty. The prices on the items were all reasonable, around $ 9 – 10 for entrée, and they had a few extras that I loved, one being the cabbage salsa seved with the fresh warm tortillas. Excellent. Cons being the timeliness of the kitchen and wait staff. The front of the house wasn’t entirely busy, but it did take an exorbant amount of time for us to get what seemed to be normal items on the menu. Atmosphere was typical of a mexican restaurant, had wooden booths, nothing really special about the décor. I had the enchilada and taco lunch special. My enchilada sauce was extra delicious and deep red and savory(muy bueno) and my taco was very tasty as well. My favorite thing though was that awesome cabbage slaw and salsa they serve. When I go home and want to replicate the recipe, I think its a good thing. Go try it out, you’ll love the food and love milling around the streets of Idaho Springs afterwards with all the cute shops!

Very authentic Mexican Chicanos. The sauce was like a mole. Not hot but delicious. They were very busy but still helpful for a one top! This steak is like a chuck so if you don’t want to chew your meat don’t order. The salad is so nutritious with cabbage cilantro cucumber tomatoe. Very nice. Highly recommend especially for an isolated Mountian town.

3 stars for a mediocre restaurant. The food was just okay — served warm but not hot. The service was alright — not bad but not great. We asked the server a question about the chicken and he said«I don’t know» rather than finding out for us. He also messed up the beans and admitted that he just wasn’t paying attention. The best part was the cabbage salsa that came out with the regular salsa(which was spicy). It was like a finely shredded cabbage with tomatoes and onions in some sauce — quite tasty! The chorizo burrito was great, beans and rice not so much.

Definitely a great place and it’s family owned. We were greeted by our waiter when we arrived and sat quickly. An older lady gave us some chips and salsa with Mexican salad. It was pretty tasty. Husband ordered steak Chicano, I ordered the combo fajitas. Husband loved his steak. I really liked the chicken, but the steak in the fajitas wasn’t great. I tried my husbands steak, and didn’t like it either, but he did, so I guess it’s just a preference. Waiter was very attentive and everyone was friendly. Only 4 starts because they didn’t have any drink specials. They had a full bar, but no drink menu. Weird.

The salsa was excellent. The rice and beans were great too. I had the beef taco and the cheese enchaladia. The taco was decent but seemed to be the standard sysco bought shells. The enchaladia was ok but the cheese was not heated all the way thru and it tasted like the pre shredded cheese which often has cellulose read wood pulp. Great server and a nicely decorated place. I will go back and try some of the specialty dishes.

First time at this place and it did not disappoint! Fajitas were top shelf with a unique and special seasoning for the chicken. Now I can clearly see why this place is packed when we are in Idaho springs. Also was pleased with the cole slaw salsa. Can’t wait to come back!

Service is pretty slow at first but picks up once the server greets you. Food is good. Chips and salsa are spicy but yummy. Margaritas are solid. Ok décor. I would definitely go back again.
