Went through a nice tour of 12.05 Distillery in Fletcher Place, and learned why one of their whiskeys is called Four Finger Rye. Master Distiller Brad was working during construction and lost his pinky in an accident. I was amazed he even wanted to talk about it and answered questions from the tour attendees. There is a story behind every name and every business, I suppose. In addition to Four Finger Rye, 12.05 has several more spirits in its lineup. The White On The Line is a wheat-based whiskey that is a bit softer than the Rye. The Porter Whiskey is a limited release that is actually distilled from Flat12’s Pogue’s Run Porter. All of the whiskeys are double distilled before going into the barrels. 12.05 also carries a vodka and a gin that have won medals recently. 12.05 Distillery spirits are available at local liquor stores. I think it’s a must to also try the cocktails right next door at Repeal. The co-owners own both the restaurant and distillery.
