everything tasted like it was cooked yesterday and fried when I ordered it. the tenderloin was chewy, breading had little flavor. half the potato wedges were cooked, the other half still raw. not impressed with a place that has such a following.

I feel like we got a lot of food for the price we paid! I ordered the fried pickles and got a huge, heaping mound of pickley goodness with some delicious dipping sauce for a mere $ 2 or $ 3. I really don’t like flimsy and jiggly pickles(think Subway) because they give me the creeps but these pickles were nice and thick and still had a bit of crunch. My sister enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich which was gigantic. As far as the taste, she said it was standard issue but the fact that not a crumb was left after she ate it was enough to convince me she would likely enjoy another pulled pork from Dashboard Diner in the future. Definitely worth a try when they roll into your ‘hood.

I’ve never been to Edwards, so it was nice when they came to me while enjoying a beer at Triton Brewery in the form of the Dashboard Diner. The onion rings were delicious but SOOOOGREASY! What made them good was the breading that was crispy and tasted hand breaded, not frozen. The tenderloin was blah; certainly not the best tenderloin I have had in the city, but edible. The prices were very reasonable especially considering how much food you get. I shared an order of onion rings and a tenderloin with my husband and we were both stuffed.

***Please note: the website given for this company is not correct – they only have a Twitter account so far!*** Food Tried: — Pork Tenderloin Sandwich(w/tomatoes, pickles, onions, lettuce)($ 6) — Onion Rings($ 2) So lately, as you know, my life has been incredibly busy. So busy in fact, that I had to get up this morning at 6:30 to go to the gym. I normally go in the afternoons because about 85% of the reason I go to the gym is that either Law & Order or NICS is always on. Little did I know it’s also on at 7am. Anyway, I got up so early because today was the second official food truck festival in Indianapolis, and given my work schedule today, I knew that if I didn’t go to the gym early, I’d either miss the gym or miss the food truck. NOTACCEPTABLE. So I missed some sleep instead. But coolly enough, I had good reason for missing sleep, because this meal by Dashboard Diner was by far the BIGGEST meal I’ve ever gotten from a food truck, absolutely the best value for what I’ve paid at any truck. It was super TASTY too, combining perfectly the freshness of the veggies and the fried food. It sat heavy on my stomach though, and I ate way too much(all in the name of a good review!), which is probably because it is breaded and fried. Nonetheless, a solidly enjoyable meal(aside from the 100 °F plus heat). The tenderloin was as big as my face. No joke. I took a picture for comparison, and even with the smaller half, my hand was dwarfed. I did some research, and the loin is the back area, meaning I ate a cross section of the entire back of a pig, if I think about how big it was. Really, truly humbling-ly generous portions. And the onion rings… I expected a few! I did not expect to lift up said monster pork tenderloin and find an entire bed of onion rings. Really, if you want to share, this is the place to do it. I should have shared! As I’ve mentioned, the price for the meal was totally the best deal I’ve had, if I consider that I should have gotten two meals out of it(I didn’t… oof!). Also, I’d like to point out some neat features of the truck: digital ordering before you get to the window – shnazzy. PA system to announce your number – high tech. Generator built into the truck space – space-efficient. All around, it seems like Dashboard Diner learned some tricks from the other trucks and brought them together brilliantly. Some suggestions! 1. Could the food come in a closeable box? Or, could you have boxes available upon request? 2. Drinks! I’m not sure if it was because of the monopoly on drinks, but I could sure have used a water or a coke(really, a coca cola). 3. Vegetarian option, like a big portobello sandwich or something. I’d not order it, but I’m sure someone would!
