Definitely meh. A 20 minute wait in line for ordinary soy-sauced stir fry dished out cafeteria style. I did it once a few years ago and wasn’t impressed, and tried it again yesterday for a second opinion. Normally I wouldn’t have waited in line for that long but had to see what the fuss was about. Curiosity satisfied, I won’t be back – and I really don’t think food like this is worth standing in line for. Serious about quality Chinese food? I’d recommend nearby Yen Ching.

Wow, what a great find! Fast Wok is open Monday through Saturday and offers around ten entrees to order from. All of the entrees are very cheap for the large portions they give you(about $ 5). If it says spicy, trust them, it’s spicy(in the best of ways). The portion for the good quality and very low price is why this place deserves 5 stars even though there are some drawbacks. What are the drawbacks? Well, first there’s the wait time. This place is so popular that even though the ladies dishing out the entrees are working at a reasonable pace, the line often whips around the interior of the restaurant. It’s very reasonable to expect to wait 30min in line before ordering and receiving your food, so don’t try to go here during your lunch break unless you’re given at least an hour for lunch. Also, the meat can be a bit tough. I assume they throw it in the wok way to early because it is obviously very overcooked and dry. I wish they would improve on that but I have a feeling they don’t read any of their online reviews. Finally, even though the cheese rangoons are cheap, you might want to pass because they really skimp out on the cheese. Instead of a nice ice cream scoop size of cheese it’s more like a melon baller. Those reservations aside, if you’re on a budget and need to feed yourself or your family a great meal, this is *the* best spot in town.

I’d heard a lot of hype, so I may have built this place up too much. I’d eat here again, but I wouldn’t make a special trip for it. As everyone else has noted, it’s cash only, there’s a long line(that moves relatively quickly), you get a lot of food for cheap, and you should ask for gravy on your rice(it’s just extra sauce). The food was okay but there are definitely other takeout places at a similar price point on the east side. I ordered a combo of the beef pepper steak and sesame chicken. I have enough left over for a second meal. The beef pepper steak was good(I’d get it again), the sesame chicken not so much(it was pretty slimy). I may have missed something, because what I walked away with didn’t justify the crowd. I’ll give it another shot next time I’m out that way.

The food here is delicious. Why? Because they have more flavor in their dishes than most Chinese restaurants in the city. Some sweet, some savory, some spicy. As others have stated, there can be a line, but they do a pretty good job at moving it along. They have seating, but you walk in, get in line, order, pay, then take your food and sit down; or take it to go. They have set menus for specific days of the week, but they usually have about ten to twelve options along with egg rolls and crab rangoon. You can order a single or combination, and it’s reasonable pricing at under $ 10 for a combination and drink.

Long wait and is cash only but sooooo good! Ask for gravy on your rice. I recommend the Mongolian chicken and the GI pad King.

This is my all time favorite Chinese food! The rice is also some of the best I have ever had. My only complaint is that every single time I come here I at least wait 30 minutes. They really need a better system or more people working. Regardless, I will still come and wait because it’s so worth it.

Absolutely best Thai Chinese food we have EVER had! Quality is over-the-top. Value is incredible — prices very reasonable and portions enough for multiple servings. Fast Wok’s fried rice is best in Indianapolis… in entire USA probably! Take cash — only currency accepted. Expect long lines at peak meal hours, but very worth the wait. I am hesitant to post this review because I want to keep our favorite Indy restaurant a secret… but looks like it’s out on web already!

I really love fast wok!!! They really give you a lot of food for the price! We went recently and got two orders of our favorite food, so that we could have some now and later!!! Its awesome. I wish they had more locations though.

Love the food. Reasonably priced. Appears to be clean and kept. Generous portions. Always a line of hungry patrons but service is efficient and the line moves quickly. No matter if you have a limited time for lunch, you will not wait too long. I really enjoy the creamcheese rangoons. Out of this world.

I agree with everyone else it is the best Chinese food on the Eastside, I like their food and you get plenty of it but I do wish their meat in the beef entrees was more done not that it’s raw it’s just its always on the CHEWYTOUGH side, I can handle it but I just have to chew it longer. It is a CASHONLYBUSINESS and be prepared to wait in line for your food.

I’ve been eating here since 20 years ago when they were inside Eastgate Mall, and the lines were just as long then as they are now. Food worth waiting in line for, sweet! The food is the best Chinese and Thai food for miles! I actually will drive 20+ miles to eat here when I am craving this type food. They rotate their menu slightly every other day, and everyone is always served in a large white Styrofoam carry out box. You either get 1 item and rice, or 2 items and rice from their choice of about 12 hot food items. I get the spicy stuff, but all is good. The cheese rangoons and egg rolls are great too. They give you the largest portions at the lowest prices, cash only. I am stuffed if I eat everything. Most customers take home half their food, as that’s all they can eat. The same owner has operated this place since the beginning. And she will always give a big smile and say HI as she brings out more freshly cooked food from the kitchen. This is one of my all-time FAVORITE places to eat. Large portions, low prices, and the BESTTASTING Chinese food around. What more could you ask for?!?

My favorite place my Chinese food. I have been visiting fast wok since they were in eastgate mall. If I want Chinese I go here. The food is consistently the same great taste, same great portions, and goodness. I love Mongolian chicken but I have never had a bad dish from there and I’m always able to have 2 days of food. This is a cash only place and they are always busy… at least a 20 minute line but it’s worth every minute!

LOVE this place! Best chicken fried rice around! Be sure to get it with ‘gravy’(the sauce of whichever dish you get).

Alright this place is close to Washington Square Mall and it’s cash only. I live near the eastside and the food options are usually limited(if you aren’t looking for fast food) I usually get the combo($ 6 super cheap!) which comes in a to go styrofoam container(all the main menu options do). It’s asian food but buffet style similar to Panda Express but the portion sizes are double. My go to is the Gai Pad King(chicken or beef varies depending on the day), it is ungodly spicy. I realized they put habanero peppers which is too spicy for me and I like spicy food. The burn you get from this dish is crazy but still good(just make sure to avoid the peppers). Finally, also the dish comes with«chips» which are fried wonton wrapper. I usually use the chips to dip into the sauce. Also, I order crab rangoon which does not have crab in it but just cream cheese but is good. PS Make sure to get gravy on your rice!(You’ll know when you go in)

Wow. I walked in and saw a line snaking through the entire restaurant. I asked the first people I saw if it was worth the wait. Everyone that heard me answered with a resounding«yes»! I was probably 30 back in line. I visited with everyone in line like a big community party. I’ll say that the wait was definitely worth it. The portion sizes are enormous for the small prices paid. I had the pepper beef and my wife had the sesame chicken. Both were excellent, as were the handmade egg rolls and cheese rangoons. Don’t forget to grab a cup of the homemade spicy mustard and sweet sour sauce. Good stuff. The only negative is their summer hours are only Monday thru Friday. Make sure and get there for some excellent Chinese food.

Closed on Saturday & Sunday now?! Since when?! Grrrr! $@#&!% $@! This does not help my Fast Wok withdrawal symptoms! On THREE separate occasions I’ve driven to the east side… mouth watering in anticipation of my favorite dish(Mongolian chicken, with a side of rangoons). On each occasion, the store was closed! With all the regular customers this place has, you’d think they would hire more staff to let the place function during normal business hours for a restaurant. These«summer hours»(which are not reflected anywhere online) are ridiculous. Definitely something I consider now so I don’t waste a trip. Cash only was annoying but manageable. But no weekend hours?! They are pushing it… I don’t care how good that Mongolian chicken is! Okay… Okay. Who am I kidding? I’ll try to make it there on a weekday after work. Smh!

Giving this place five stars because for the price, you can’t beat it! For years, this has been our go to place for Chinese. I can’t believe I never reviewed it before now. Nothing fancy inside, but they recently renovated it. Mostly I get take out. Served cafeteria style, you pick one or two entrees with rice. They usually have about 10 – 12 entrees to choose from. I love their cheese rangoons. I saw one Unilocaler said they didn’t like their egg rolls, but I think they are good — especially when you eat them hot. When we have family get togethers, we go hear, spend about $ 80 and get enough food for 15+ people — with lots of leftovers. Try it once, I think you’ll go back!

I have been going to this hidden gem for many years. At that time, it was one of only a handful of good restaurants in Indianapolis, so glad the food scene in Indy has improved vastly. I ate at the Eastgate location and the current location in Washington Square parking lot. Let me tell you nothing has really changed. This is a good thing. Will you have to wait? You’re almost always going to stand in line from 5 – 20 minutes, and I will explain why shortly. If you haven’t ate here in 10 years, nothing about the food has changed. Everything is made fresh and from scratch even rangoon and egg rolls and the best thing is the quality is very consistent. I have never had anything but a perfect meal here. All prices are very reasonable. Two people could not find a way to spend $ 20 in this place and spending $ 15 is pretty hard. Large drinks are $ 1.20! Why do you have to wait in line? Well the food is freshly made and reasonably priced. There are no menu items over $ 6.00. A combo is under $ 6.00 with rice. A single is under $ 5.00. Each combo weights over a pound. Food made from fresh ingredients and made from scratch. This is one of those little holes in the wall that people have discovered over years, and that is also the reason for the line. I would wait an hour in line if I had to. Put that in perspective, this is place from open to close, there is going to be a line. The owner is a very nice lady. I have spoken to her a few times when she had a chance to get away from the kitchen. She does all the cooking every day which explains the consistency of the food. I have eaten almost every item on the menu, and I can truly say: «You can’t go wrong». However, if you don’t believe me ask for a taste before you make up your mind. They give free samples. If you are bored of chain restaurants and think for yourself and are not manipulated by millions of dollars in TV commercials to make yourself believe you have to eat average to below average overpriced food at some chain restaurant, I am one of you. Let’s all keep supporting the true food scene in Indiana.
