Tried Golden Wok for the first time today and it won’t be my last! The lady that took my order was so nice and sweet and the food also came out super quickly! I attend UIndy so it’s super close by and for a long night session of studying I thought some Chinese would do some good! She was so sweet to pack everything into a little box so it wouldn’t spill over when I drive! And the shrimp cashew was delicious! The only down side was that I’d like for it to contain a bit more shrimp and less veggies, other wise it was awesome! Totally recommend!

I finally found a Chinese place that is amazing in Indianapolis!!! We ordered online and a lady called us to warn us it would be an hour(most delivery places don’t do that around here to courtesy call) so I decided to pick it up. Very clean, very busy place. It’s saint Patrick’s day but you would think it was Chinese New Year by how busy they were on a Tuesday night. The lady that worked there was beyond kind. She even tried to help me learn to say thank you in Cantonese(and man did I fail!) She literally boxed up the order for me so the food would stay put. Ok the food is amazing. This is not Chinese American food at all. The broccoli is fresh. The fried rice is the best I’ve ever had. It’s not stuck together and looks homemade. Plein lo is also amazing. I have never been to China so I can’t attest that this is real Chinese food but I have a pretty good feeling this is authentic :)

I went in and ordered pork chop with stir-fried onion on rice. It was delicious. The pork chop was cut into slices, and the portion size is generous. Honestly I feel out of place in this land of bad chinese buffet and sweet-sauced american chinese food. Not to mention they all look dirty and depressing. Thank goodness there is Golden Wok, which is clean and serves authentic chinese dishes. And the young couple who run this place are good people too!

Best friend and I have this on Friday movie nights pretty often. We love it! Family run, too and it’s been here forever. Service is quick and super friendly. Definitely recommend their General Tso’s — you get big pieces and it’s all white meat chicken.

Fast, standard Chinese food. Great neighborhood restaurant. Only downfall? No steamed dumplings!

We got a special treat here this year. There are two ways to eat at this place. Walking in and ordering on the menu, and walking in with a Chinese colleague and getting access to the authentic Chinese menu. The first way is good, but the second is way better. Actually our colleague took the easy way out and had the owner choose the dishes they wanted to prepare. Giving them that freedom certainly paid off. Unfortunately what we had could not be meaningfully translated into English so I don’t have a record of what we got. Guess we will bring him everytime from now on :)

Good price for the fresh cook food. Much better than buffet. A lot special dishes for Chinese, very good. Try the beef noodle soup or water cooked beef or fish, if you like very hot dish.

Maybe it was the stuff we ordered, but the fact that I, as hardcore lover of restaurant leftovers, have yet to finish the leftovers from this place should say something.

I was disappointed by the food at Golden Wok. We have a tradition of getting Chinese food on New Years Day and decided to go with Golden Wok because of their good reviews and convenient location. The breading on the General Tso’s was not good. It was soggy and had an unpleasant texture. The sauce was overpowered by a vinegar smell that stung my nostrils, and despite asking for extra spice, it was very mild. The Kung Pao chicken was pretty good and was loaded with veggies, but only a few pieces of chicken and was overwhelmed with celery. The highlight of the meal was the crab rangoon; delightfully crispy with a yummy creamy center and sweet and sour sauce for dipping. The best crab rangoon I have had in recent memory. Because others have had good experiences, I’m inclined to think this was just an off day and would likely give them another chance.

I found this restaurant through the helpfulness of Unilocal and was pleased. I had the General Tso’s chicken dinner. The portions were huge. It came with fried rice, soup and an egg roll. I had the egg drop soup and it was good. The General Tso’s was nice and crisp, but a bit too mild for my taste, next time I’ll ask for it extra hot. The price was amazing, under 6 dollars for a whole lot of food. I’ll definitely be back.

They’re still there and doing good business. I took a couple friends. I didn’t get the hot and sour soup, but the one friend who got says it’s great. I had the lemongrass chicken, and like it enough to get it again. It wasn’t done in the style that I’m used to getting at Vietnamese restaurants, but it was good. The menu does have some Vietnamese items.(The staff is Chinese.) One friend had the pork chop dinner, and he raved over it, saying he’d get it again, soon. The other friend said the Sesame chicken was great. Décor/carpet needs some sprucing up, so ambience is not going to impress, but the food will impress. It’s not a typical cookie-cutter walk-up joint. Plenty of room to dine in. Our dine-in meals were served on hard ceramic plates with stainless steel utensils.

This is our go-to Chinese carryout restaurant. There are several Chinese carryouts closer to our home but we would rather drive the extra distance to Golden Wok. This is a mom & pop operation and everything is cooked to order. For approximately $ 5 for lunch and $ 6 for dinner the combination specials are a real bargain. That’s not even mentioning the fact that your get a styrofoam container full of food weighing about 5 lbs. Their egg rolls are crispy & delicious and do NOT have the«old grease» taste that so many other carryouts have. I always get the hot & sour soup as my soup choice. It’s mostly broth with some ground pork and mushrooms and has a great vinegary and peppery flavor. The veggies in their meals are cooked perfectly so that they are still crisp. The meats & vegetables that they use in their dishes have always been of great quality and quantity in every dish we’ve ordered. They do not scrimp here. I also like that if something is ordered«spicy» or «extra hot» it is served spicy and extra hot! Most places seem like they’re too scared to add heat but not this place. I’ve really worked up a sweat eating their chicken curry and Mongolian beef dishes that were ordered extra hot. There are probably better Chinese carryouts in town but we’ve never been disappointed here.
