My kiddo wanted a shake and with the help of Unilocal and an interest in avoiding a chain, we came here. –SnS would have been cheaper. DQ, cheaper. I don’t get where the other reviews are saying something costs $ 1. On the menu were shakes, sundaes, and waffle cones, all of which were $ 4-something PLUS tax. –Shake size was smaller than what you get elsewhere. The kid consumed her chocolate shake before I got a chance to taste it but kid+shake=happy no matter the quality. –Lid did not fit the bowl. I was struggling with a melting chocolate sundae mess oozing over the side plus adjusting the crooked lid. I had a mess on my napkined lap. –My flavor was chocolate peanut butter, but I found one piece of PB in the whole shebang. –Ice chunks. Melting and re freezing? I don’t know. And as has been mentioned, there is a gummy texture that is unpleasant. I’m irritated to find out something should have been a dollar. We had to look like we were from out of town so some offer of help with the menu or what the regulars know would have been nice. I’m not giving a one star rating because even though I won’t be back I’d like this business to succeed. If you live in or are visiting the neighborhood, give it a try but ask questions! I can’t recommend going out of your way to try Gordon’s.

I’d like to direct your attention real quick to a hidden gem near 10th and Rural called Gordon’s Ice Cream Parlor.(It’s just a few doors down from another great spot, Pogue’s Run Grocer.) Chef Carl Gordon handcrafts the extensive collection of flavors(all the classics, plus adventurous creations like«10th Street», «My Ex», Lemon Oreo, Maple Bacon). Most of the ingredients are locally– sourced and handmade(like, if there’s pie in the ice cream, he baked whole pies and put them in there… handmade waffle cones, unexpected mix-ins.) All for… $ 1 a single-scoop cone! He even offered a vegan soft serve last summer. He says he’ll offer a handmade vegan ice cream this season if we can create a market! This place is the real deal — truly artisanal, local, soulful, authentic… without the side of pretense and jacked up prices of some places doing cool things. Chef Gordon is doing something no one else in town is doing and I hope more people discover and support this righteous local business. Next time you get a hankering for ice cream, check this place out and tell him Allison sent you.

A cute little local place with typical flavors and some fun unique flavors. Carl makes all the ice cream himself. The lemon custard is the best!

Can’t wait for the season open this Friday, May 1st. Loved the almond pistachio flavor last year but I hear this year Gordon’s is going to be making their own homemade ice cream!

Man, I was hoping this place was going to live up to the hype! I live in the neighborhood and I had heard about Gordon’s and even met Gordon, but when I finally decided to go get some ice cream with my girlfriend, I was sadly disappointed. I’ll begin to describe my experience with two words: mother’s womb. That’s how my girlfriend described the interior of the place and it was right on the money. We’re talking a very literal mother’s womb. It’s a dull, Pepto-Bismol pink(as Ntianu said in her review), with some dark pinks sprinkled around(no pun intended) and just an overall disturbing surrounding. Then there’s the ice cream: it was okay. I had the red velvet delight and my girlfriend had the Tin Comet espresso chip. Overall, I’ve had better. The main issues were that it was super gummy(not an ice cream expert, but they refer to that as stabilizers… there is some serious stabilizer abuse going on here) and it was just too sweet. Yes, ice cream is supposed to be sweet, but should you feel cavities setting in as you bite into it? The reason I gave it 2 stars and not 1 is because the service was pleasant. However, I don’t think that being a small shop in an up-and-coming neighborhood should affect the quality of the product that is being sold there. And yes, it’s cheap. But Kroger’s ice cream is cheaper.

Great ice cream and an excellent variety of flavors. We were greeted by Mr Gordon as week walked in and he gave us samples of anything we wanted to try. I had the maple bacon in a waffle cone, my wife had strawberry in a cake cone and my daughter had a scoop of chocolate. The whole thing was under $ 7.

This cute little neighborhood ice cream parlor in an area that the city is attempting to revitalize. The place can be a but tricky to find. It’s near Pogue’s Run Grocery if that helps. The inside is pepto-bismol pink. Simply decorated with a few chairs and table. I was greeted upon entry and offered samples of whichever flavors I wanted to try. I sampled the maple bacon, which was actually pretty tasty! I am still on a cheesecake kick so I got two scoops of the Krazy cookie dough and strawberry cheesecake. I know, bizarre! The scoop size was HUGE! Oh my goodness! You definitely get your monies worth. Overall my visit was nice. It’s a little bit of happiness in an area that is in need of a little extra love.
