I was(am?) the kind of child who ran around with scissors. That makes ICE a dangerous business for me, because the blades are so sharp that you won’t notice when you’ve cut yourself because nothing comes out. Lightsaber status. More seriously, dropped off four knives that hadn’t been professionally sharpened since they were purchased, my $ 10 Amazon sharpener just wasn’t doing the trick anymore. For $ 3 – 7 a knife(ranging from a small one for paring to a 10″ chef). They were back in my hands within two days, good as new(perhaps better). I still use my steel to «hone» them on a regular basis(especially when it comes to tomatoes or peppers), but doubt I’ll ever use the sharpener again. 4.5 stars and rounding up. The half a star is docked for convenience: you need to find the truck at a farmer’s market or catch the drop-off times at Goose(available via Facebook). If they had a regularly-scheduled pick-up at Goose, or accepted drop-offs willy-nilly, the full five stars. tldr; Cheap, quick turnaround, excellent work.

While browsing Facebook one day I saw a post from Goose The Market about knife sharpening. Ok, I’m interested. I’ve had my knives sharpened at Williams Sonoma before… they used an electric sharpener. Basically the same thing I would do in my kitchen. It wasn’t expensive, but the knives weren’t very sharp either. So I had high hopes but low expectations when I dropped off my knives at Goose. I dropped off the knives wapped in a kitchen towel. 2 days and $ 9 later I got back my chef knives. They were in nice, protective cardboard covers, wrapped in my kitchen towel. I was eager to give them a try so I unwrapped them ASAP when I got home. Opened the first knife and cut straight down a piece of white paper. Perfect sharpening job. Its clear that these guys mean business and know what the heck they are doing. If you want your knives professionally sharpened, look for Indy Cutting Edge. They rotate places throughout the city for drop off/pick up services and are often at Farmer’s Markets.
