good food good service decent price. the waiter was very friendly and knew his food and gave good recommendations. Being an out of towner that was good service.

I come to Lorenzo’s over and over again. The food is excellent — well prepared, fresh, and unique. The bar service and wine selection is a spot on. I have always had a great experience, from a service stand-point. I feel like a member of the family when I come to Lorenzo’s

Fabulous time! We enjoyed a wonderful ambiance, good wine, and good food. Kent, our server even bought us dessert. The spaghetti and meatballs were fab. Next time we are here for the Big Ten Tourney we’ll stop in!

One of the best, if not the best Italian restaurants in downtown Indy. The service was great and the food was even better. A great place to take that special someone. Check in on Unilocal and receive a free appetizer. I recommend the meatballs!

I was hesitant when my red-bearded partner in crime choose Lorenzo’s as our early v-day celebration date, only because I had heard about a fair share of bad experiences but alas, Lorenzo’s soared high above and beyond what I was expecting! Via our first time check in on Unilocal, free appetizer(Yay to Unilocaling!!) we got the Lorenzo’s meatballs to kick dinner off, and let me tell ya, these aint yo mama’s meatballs! These little balls of heaven were grrrrreat and had me over the moon about my main course :) I went for the Lorenzo’s Penne Alla Vodka: ding, ding, ding, we gotta winner! I was stuffed to the brim after those meatballs and then the warm fluffy goodness in a basket they call bread, but I couldn’t stop eating my main dish because it was just so fantastic. I didn’t go for a cocktail or dessert(well, dessert for obvious reasons, I wasn’t trying to spontaneously combust at my seat) but next time I will definitely be saving room for round three!

After writing my first review I was given the opportunity to come back and give it another try. Although I was hesitant some friends of mine had made reservations for NYE so I decided to give it a try. Once again I was sorely disappointed. Once we arrived it took forever for us to place our order. I think as a waitress it it very important to feel out your customers. This was not are only stop for the night and we didn’t have the time to sit at the restaurant for over 3 hours. I gave them another star this time because once we did get the food it was very good I ordered the spinach ravioli and enjoyed it very much. Once again I felt the food was very much overpriced. For 1 entrée and one alcoholic beverage it cost me over $ 30. After giving this place 2 tries I think I am done.

Giving Lorenzo’s two stars is me being generous. The best part of the evening? My dear friend and the Florida couple we met at the bar. Other than that, things here were pretty«meh.» It started with our service. It’s hard to tell when someone is not doing their job well because they’re having an overall bad day. This could have been the case. But does that excuse the wrong salad being delivered, a hair found in the food and then our soup being cold? Um, don’t think so. Then, to top it off, our cocktails were each about $ 10 a piece. What?! The drink was just as much as the meal. Sorry, Lorenzo’s, but you’re going to have to do a lot better than this for me to want to come back any time soon. **My positive spin: You guys have potential. Your location is perfect and easy to find. We stumbled across this place because we needed a bite to eat before a concert at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Like I said, there’s potential. But believe me — it’s going to be hard to forget this first visit.

Lorenzo’s was not a bad experience, but it didn’t wow me either. The prices were a little high but this is an upscale place, and the food was just above-average. The service was really good though, and it was very quiet and peaceful atmosphere. If you’re looking for excitement, look elsewhere. If you’re looking for a very calm experience with the grandparents, then yeah, Lorenzo’s is probably a great choice.

I have been to Lorenzo’s twice and had a very pleasant experience both times. The ambiance is great, service is great and the food is wonderful. If you aren’t sure what to order, the staff is very helpful. They make a great martini and I love their chopped salad, caprese salad and calamari. They serve lunch and dinner and have great happy hour specials! Just follow them on FB or Twitter for daily updates!

This amazing Italian restaurant sits in the heart of downtown Indianapolis just south of The Circle. Start with Lorenzo’s Meatbals appetizer or the Torta di Caprino, a baked goat cheese with gorgonzola cream sauce garnished with roasted red peppers and capers. Rich doesn’t begin to describe it! I followed the antipasti with a well-prepared Caprese Salad(tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, olive oil, and basalmic vinegar) and went on to the Lasagna della Casa. What can I say? I usually try a classic on my first visit to a new restaurant and this dish did not disappoint. Very meaty, very filling and very tasty! We all finished up with the house made lemon-vanilla cheesecake with toasted almond graham crust. It was a little less«cheese-y» than other cheesecakes, but we all agreed it was definitely a good thing. Overall, a great dining experience with friendly staff in a prime location.

We went to Lorenzo’s on a Friday night and there was a decent amount of people there but we had a reservation and were seated right away. There didn’t appear to be anyone waiting but at the same time it was around 8 so maybe most people were seated by then? Or maybe not enough people know about this place? I’ll admit that I’d never heard of it. Like most of the Italian restaurants I’ve been to, they brought us bread to the table. I was a little disappointed that they had us do the olive oil and vinegar thing in the middle ourselves. I always think it tastes better when the waiter does it. Especially if he has some fresh cracked pepper to go with it. They did give us some Parmesan cheese though so that was good! I’m a big fan of sharing food so we decided to go with the Lorenzo’s Penne Alla Vodka and the Caccuicco(which is like a seafood soup w/very little broth). We asked them to put the soup in two bowls since we were going to share it and were pleasantly surprised when they brought the pasta split onto two places as well. We had contemplated getting a salad but knew from history that we always end up with food leftover so we skipped it. We both LOVED the Caccuccio. It had all sorts of seafood in it and a great broth. The pasta was also delicious and had a nice little kick to it but nothing that made you reaching for your water(or wine). I didn’t pick the wine but I did enjoy the glass that I received. We decided not to go for the whole bottle(knowing that neither of us has the tolerance for that anymore) but there were enough options to choose from when going with just a glass. They also had a fairly large selection in general and some of them were pretty pricey so maybe if you’re a wine connoisseur it would be worth checking out to see if they have anything good. So in summary, I’m a fan! I’m happy we tried this place out since neither of us had been there before. We left there full and and without leftovers which wasn’t necessarily the goal but worked out rather well!

Lorenzo’s is OK — better than the restaurants that’ve occupied that spot prior… but sadly, it’s nothing to write home over. I will say — the meatballs were GREAT! And, the food wasn’t bad… it just wasn’t stellar. I went during Devour Downtown… so maybe that’s it… but I’m under the impression the point of ‘Devour is to put your best foot forward in hopes of building loyalty? Silly Rabbit… Our service was really good — so that was one highlight. Bottom line: I want to give Lorenzo’s a third star, but I just can’t. Not when there’s Iaria’s, Iozzo’s, & the Milano Inn all practically within walking distance. Plus the Mama(Corolla) a short drive away. Basically: we’ve got some great Italian here in Indy; if you’re going to enter that market, bring your A-game or pack your bags.

Tried Lorenzo’s during the Winter 2013 Devour Downtown event. The four course menu looked amazing but sadly failed to meet my expectations. I expected amazing and got ‘meh.’ The highlight of the meal was the restaurants signature meatballs. These were delicious. .. I’d even go back to just have these with a glass of wine. This was followed by a chopped salad. The presentation was beautiful but there was something lacking in the dressing. For the third course, my boyfriend and I got different entrees so we could share. We selected the chicken picatta and the Baked Ziti alla Vodka. I’m not sure what sauce was on the ziti but it wasn’t vodka — obviously disappointing! The picatta wasn’t but I do need to note that it was an incredibly small portion Our server, Sarah, was amazing — and on her first night!

It was ladies night, celebrating a birthday, so we selected a new to us restaurant within walking distance from our first stop at Tastings. The waiter shared the specials, reeling off a whole lot of info… offering his honest opinions, which we all appreciated greatly. We started with calamari which was good, but lacking salt. The special was seafood with fresh made pasta. I hear it was very flavorful, but I had the chicken penne with artichoke hearts and capers. Overall, a nice experience, but no wow factor, given the bill received.

Have you ever had the moment where you want to blow your diet on fantastic Italian? I was in that mood tonight and chose Lorenzo’s. What an awful mistake. I’m not sure if I am more upset with paying for overpriced Italian or blowing calories on average food. Everything was average including the service, bread, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, cocktails, and entrees. Even with a full plate at the end of the meal the server never asked if I enjoyed the food. The sausage in the pasta arrabiata was chunky and chewy(it that even natural?). No one, including the wait staff, host, or valet, asked if I enjoyed the evening. Maybe a sign they know their restaurant is just OK. Not worth the calories, money, or time.

Lorenzo’s serves truly excellent Italian food, in a very cozy, yet sophisticated atmosphere. The menu is full of choices that can satisfy any pallet, and I found that the service was as impeccable as the food. Personally, I started with the(outstanding) calamari appetizer and the Mista salad, and then had the salmon for my entrée. It was probably the best cut of salmon I have had in years, and came with a side of pasta topped with Lorenzo’s Diablo sauce(which was spicy enough for my taste). I was also fortunate enough to have been able to try the Caesar salad – which was superior to the Mista. I highly recommend Lorenzo’s to anyone who has a taste for Italian food. Although it is a little on the pricey side, it was certainly worth every penny!

I’m very surprised to see such high reviews for this place. I was not impressed at all. My lunchtime order of Red Pepper Pappardella Bolognese was $ 13, which is on the high side for pasta downtown unless it comes with a salad. This was just the pasta, and the portion was pretty paltry, even for lunch. Bread came to the table, but it was nothing special. The pappardella itself was very disappointing. I am a fan of al dente, but this pasta was actually undercooked. I think it must have come from batches of pasta that were cooked at different times, because most of it was ok, but probably a quarter of it was underdone. Since I was on my lunch break, I didn’t have time to send it back, so I just crunched through. I did tell the server it was undercooked though — he seemed uninterested. He also took a bit of time to come to our table, even though we were the ONLY ones there. We could also hear women talking and giggling loudly in the front. This place felt like it has potential to be intimate, inviting, and have good food. But it didn’t happen on our trip.

Overall, very tasty food and friendly, knowledgable service. I had Veal Piccata, which was outstanding. Only complaint, very small portion. The Caesar Salad was pretty good… I’ve had better. I also had a cup of Minestrone soup which was very good. My partner had a Capellini dish with meatballs that looked very good and was finished off pretty quick, so I’d say he enjoyed it. The bread I could have eaten all day. Nice atmosphere and we went around 3:00pm, so it was pretty quiet. Definitely worth a try.
