Ray’s Campus Barber & Beauty Salon

Good service and the hair stylist was very helpful. I could get an appointment on the same day within hours and was satisfied with my haircut. It’s on IUPUI campus so very convenient if you go here. I definitely recommend.

Ray is the man! He can cut hair without even trying. I had always wanted a classically trained, gentleman barber, and Ray is that to a T. He always remembers me and asks me how I am. We talk sports and whats going on in the news. He gets my hair perfect every time, and you can’t beat the straight razor shaves on your neck line.

If you’re a student at IUPUI needing a haircut, a tan, or pretty nails, Ray’s Campus Salon is the place to go. With a month of tanning for only $ 26.00, you’ll be glad you chose Ray’s Campus Salon instead of Sun Tan City, which costs $ 30 just for one tan.
This place is always clean and the employees friendly. Ray, the owner of the business, is a very sweet man. The salon employees are all very kind, appreciative, and helpful. They make you feel like a welcomed customer and ask you how your day is going. I have noticed that Ray, in particular, keeps up-​to-​date with his customers’ lives. They are very knowledgeable of their products, and if you are unhappy with something, they will make sure you leave with a smile on your face.
The cost to tan is not bad at all. Plus they accept Jagtags, so you can pay that way if you want. They only complaint I have is their reduced hours on the weekends. They are not open on Saturday’s or Sunday’s. Ray may come in random Saturday mornings, but it is unexpected. Also, they close at 5:00. This can be difficult for me to find a time to tan when I am working in the morning and going to classes in the afternoons. If this is not a problem for you, I suggest you check out Ray’s Campus Salon.

I have been going there for nearly 15 years. Karen always cuts my hair. If you need your hair cut short, have Karen do it. The folks there are always nice, friendly and the prices are cheap, compared to other places around town. I have also tanned there and they do a great job of keeping their bulbs fresh and replacing them regularly, so you don’t get strips.

Ray was a really good guy who gave a good haircut. He wasn’t the best that I’ve gone to but definitely wasn’t the worst. He was a stand-​up guy who was always a pleasure to talk to. Every time I sat in his chair he always asked me about things going on in my life that we had discussed the month prior and then he would transition into talking about sports and the news. It definitely made for a nice, relaxing visit. He’s the kind of guy you could spend an evening with at the bar, just shooting the breeze. He was one of the more social barbers I’ve had but still got the haircut done in a timely manner. His prices are very reasonable and he’s generally easy to schedule with. In addition to hair cuts, his business also offers tanning packages. However, with only one bed and limited operating hours, my monthly package there seemed to be a waste since it was hard to get in there after I finished work and before he closed. The lack of weekend hours also made it seem like a waste but know athat it is there if you live nearby and your availability matches his hours. If you are a student at IUPUI, live or work nearby I would recommend giving him a try. I enjoyed my time spent there while I was in grad school at IUPUI and I’m sure he will treat you as well as he did me.

Having this salon on campus is convenience at its finest!
I came in on my birthday and needed a boost from same old drab hair style I’ve had for awhile. Now I had never been here before but have passed it nearly everyday because I live on campus and I decided that today was the day to give it a try.
I had my hair colored, trimmed, styled and eyebrows waxed by Jackie. She did an amazing job and was great company. I walked out feeling polished, refreshed and ready for my birthday dinner.
Don’t give this place the cold shoulder simply because its an on campus salon! The prices are so awesome and the people are so friendly. I will definitely return for future eye brow appointments and try out their tanning services.

I have only been to Ray’s for tanning so I can only vouch for that portion of their services selection and their service.
If you attend IUPUI, live in nearby apartments or work in one of the hospitals downtown, Ray’s is a very handy tanning location. The lots nearby require parking permits so it makes it more challenging/​pricey for someone to park who does not have a permit.
Tanning prices are excellent and do not have strings attached like some other salons. I tanned with unlimited minutes for $ 20! Not to shabby if I say so myself. There is only one bed; however, you can make an appointment or just walk in which is usually fine since there is rarely a line. The week before IUPUI’s spring break I had to wait like two different times I went to tan, but I would never complain because I only waited 15 minutes. I have waited for 45 minutes at Sun Tan City and they have a dozen or more beds. Their bed also has a face tanner if that tickles your fancy.
The staff are very friendly and remembered my name after coming in a few times which was comforting and made me feel like I was back home. They asked if I was happy with the bed on several different occasions; thus, they want to make sure you’re happy with your service. They were always friendly and happy to get me fixed up with some toasty UV rays.

Great quality and location. A little pricey but worth it for the results. Go here if you live on or near IUPUI campus. They accept JagTags too.
