After several months of having successful Mayan Abdominal Therapy in another state, I made an appointment with Maria Renner to continue my therapy after my move. After my first treatment, which was missing a very significant portion of the traditional bodywork, I chalked it up to the fact that she was newer to this type of therapy. After speaking with her via email, she informed me that she’d chosen to omit the bodywork and focus on «spiritual healing,» but that I could come back for an additional session, and she’d do what she was supposed to do the first time around. I passed, as I’d already been overcharged for the first session for the «intense» work we’d done. If you’re looking for Mayan Abdominal Therapy, go elsewhere and to an experienced practitioner. Many practitioners are very passionate about this type of work, and I got the feeling that this practitioner is not in this to help people. I really felt taken advantage of. Also, the studio is very cold and drafty… not the type of place I’d want any bodywork done (not that much was done anyway).
