Amazingly delicious! I live on the west side of Indy(Avon) and I don’t mind serving 20 – 25 mins to drive to the east side for this delicious pizza. I know they have pizza trucks around town, but I have seen the super long lines. I find it easier to take the drive out to the actual establishment, pick up my pizza, and head home. I’ve visited NY numerous times and can honestly say this tastes just like a good slice of NY pizza. Must try and see for yourself. Service is great and the wait isn’t long a all for these huge pizzas. The people who work here are funny, friendly, and very helpful.

They consistently burn their pizza. I have order from them on four separate occasions and it was burned every time. moreover every time I called I asked for ham and pineapple and they were out of ham EACHTIME. the last time I called I asked them to explain how this could be and they got shitty with me about their obvious inability to meet a simple demand. In short, high priced, poorly made, dick heads.

The name of this place is false advertising. I went in and the only sell pizza by the pie, so I could not buy just a slice. Show me one F ing pizza place in NYC or Nj that sells only pies? They should just call it Crappy Indiana Pizza by the Pie.

This is really like NYC pizza. I lived there for 5 years and have had quite a few pieces of pizza from quite a few different pizza joints. If you don’t like thin crust, NY Style pizza it’s going to be a bust. The price is also consistent with NYC pizza. They are big slices, most people would probably just eat one. I’ve never eaten from the food truck but I did order from the eastside location for pickup. It was good stuff, definitely took me back to NY without the… standing outside eating it off a paper plate on the street thing. With the weather how it is, I don’t really want to relive that. Anyway, it’s worth a go for sure. If the truck was parked outside my office at lunch, I’d definitely stop by.

So I must disclaim that The NY Slice is a client of mine, but as you can see from my previous reviews, I don’t even waste time reviewing places I don’t like. Not worth the energy. With that being said, I’m willing to go out of my way and drive 15 – 20 minutes to get this pizza. I go to the physical location just because I don’t normally have time to get to the pizza truck locations. Here’s what I like: PROS: **Big Slices. I’m a big guy and I can eat a lot, but one or two slices will get the job done. My 10 year old son and I normally get a pizza between the two of us and have two meals worth. If we have anybody else, it’s always gone that night. It’s as good… maybe even better the next day.(Reheating tip: Use an oven. Don’t microwave. Put the pizza directly on the rack at 375 degrees for about 4 – 5 minutes) **The Ingredients. Everything is always fresh and I can tell it’s not some frozen packaged cheese or toppings. This is the kind of cheese that stretches for a while and you have to grab the end of it to get your slice separated if you don’t have it sliced really good. I’m pretty much a traditionalist when it comes to pizza, so pepperoni or plain cheese or meat lovers is what I go for. It’s a little greasy, but if I’m eating pizza, it better be. When I’m being health conscious, I’m not eating pizza. **The Sides. Wings. Bomb. Love the Sweet Fire sauce. The fresh cut fries with the nacho cheese is a good week’s worth of calories, but well worth it. CONS: **The Price. The price isn’t high for the quality and size of pizza you get. The price is high for one person or two if you don’t have a big fridge. The pizza box is so big it won’t fit without moving a bunch of other things around. The last thing I want to do is be moving things around before I go into my pizza induced coma.

Yes, the pizza is tasty. But is it going to blow your mind? No. Is it worth an hour+ wait? NNNNOOOOO. I’ve had NY Slice 3x now, and each time I’ve thought, «Yeah…that was ok, but took way too long and the price was too high.» After my 3rd time on Monday night, at The Lawn at WRSP during the Imagine Dragons concert, I’ll never eat this pizza again. There are THOUSANDS of people there. There are 2 food trucks plus the regular concessions. Common sense dictates there should be more than one person slinging pies, yes? When I got in line, there were about 25 people in front of me. I stood in line from the end(last 3 – 4 songs) of the first band’s set, the time it took to tear-down and re-set the stage, and all but 3 songs from the second band’s set. In music time, that is an hour. You know the wait is bad when the 9-year-old in front you you turns around and says, «This had better be the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life!!» My boyfriend left 4x, stood in the ridiculous beer lines TWICE, peed TWICE, and I hadn’t even ordered yet. Why so slow? One person, 2 kinds of pizza, one pizza oven. Every single person in that line was getting either a pepperoni or a cheese slice. When you got to the window, she asked what you wanted, and then placed those slices into the oven to be warmed. When they were done, she gave them to you. Why not just holler out the window«Raise your hand if you want pepperoni!!» and throw in an entire pie. The next one would be cheese… move that line along! Or better yet, have a pepperoni oven and a cheese oven, or half and half pies that can be heated while one is being sliced. When the line is 40 – 60 people deep(I’m not kidding)…you’re going to sell the slices. There’s not a CHANCE those slices are going to get cold. Ridiculous.

So wanted this to be good. I’m a truck foodie fan. Clustertruck at Triton Brewing. By 6:15p they’re sold out of most everything — except pep or cheese. I was disappointed. Sure it’s thin — but just because its thin doesn’t mean that it’s good. I can fold cardboard in half too, you know. My local bowling alley puts out a better thin crust big apple style slice and I’m pretty sure it’s a frozen GFS version. Yeah, you know, for a couple bucks, you shouldn’t have high expectations. I didn’t and it didn’t either.

2 giant slices of pepperoni pizza for $ 5. I’ve had better pizza for sure, but this was decent. And the price is right. The bottom was a bit too dark for my liking, but overall it was okay.

Great New York Style! I stopped by The NY Slice at a local cycling race and was really satisfied! BIG slice of pizza, just what you would expect in the BIG Apple. Service was quick, not even a noticeable wait. I’ll definitely hit these guys up again, at the next cycling race!

Honestly this pizza needs more cheese. I’ve had a slice in NY and let me tell you, not the same and definitely way to expensive. In NY it was about 1.50 to 2 dollars, 4 is too expensive. Hey but ill admit, those garlic knots were pretty good.

One of the top 3 pizza joints in town… hands down, no questions asked, and it’s from a truck! I can’t quite say«the best». I’m a pretty big fan of pizza, and considering they only have the 1 style, when I’m in the mood for some legit deep dish, this place would be a big let down, lol. But the price is right, the truck is mobile, and the extras are pretty good too. They definitely do NY style right; big, thin slices. COMETOTHENORTHSIDEMOREDAMMIT!!!

I wasn’t sure about this but got two pieces of supreme and thoroughly enjoyed them. The crust was just right as far as crunchiness and thickness. There was a good amount of toppings and its was warmed up to just the right temperature. Pretty good. I’d eat here again. But at the same time nothing too special.

All I have had is the cheese pizza… and for the price I think it is a solid deal. It seems like there are not enough by the slice pizza places in the city, and NY fills that void. I would not usually give somewhere 4 stars for just a slice of cheese pizza… enter the bread sticks, or should I say knots. I could eat a whole bucket of these parm-covered gems. Also, they had Siracha for the za, which is a bonus.

The first time I tried their pizza, they burnt the bottom. I decided to give them a second chance. My bad. Really… it was bad. I got a pepperoni slice, and it was so greasy, it dripped down onto my hand. The sauce was unmemorable, the crust was burnt(again!) and the cheese didn’t seem that great. Immediately after, I tried Byrne’s Grilled Pizza and realized what was wrong with The NY Slice. The quality of the cheese just isn’t as good. The difference in slices was night and day. They need to get better quality cheese and stop burning the slices before I’ll be back.

Food Tried:($ 6.50 for combo, separate prices listed below) — Slice of Cheese Pizza($ 2.75/slice) — Bread-knots($ 3.50/bag) — Sprite(irrelevant to my assessment, but $ 1) I must admit, I felt a bit like I had fallen behind the times with The NY Slice, only because for their first week-plus, they kept doing lunch at a location I just couldn’t manage to get to, and they kept selling out, so even if I could make it to the end of the lunch time frame, there wasn’t pizza anyway. I’m pretty happy they were selling out-makes a Indy-dweller happy to see people supporting local businesses. Anyway, The NY Slice arrived amid a flurry of tweets, facebook statuses, and general word-of-mouth hoopla, because while we already have one pizza truck(Father Byrnes Grilled Pizza), The NY Slice promised something a bit different: authentic New York style pizza. The first image that comes to mind is of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with a pizza box sliding into a manhole cover and thin crust and stringy cheese. Maybe not everyone’s initial reaction, but I was very excited. Luckily, I was not disappointed. Truly accurate in the spirit of New York style, The NY Slice creates a ZESTY and GENEROUS meal. Zesty for my tastebuds, generous for my wallet and stomach-one need never go hungry with a slice from The NY Slice around. One of the tough parts about The NY Slice is that the pizza is not actually made on the truck(in fact, I am coming to believe that many of the foods are not made«in-vehicle» but rather delivered via the truck), which explains why they run out so easily, and why you can’t special order. But on thinking, I realize that Father Byrnes is only capable of doing so because they are generally stationary: they, and their grills, stay in place. It takes a while, but you get custom-made pizza. That’s the tradeoff, and The NY Slice sits on the other side of the fence. Quicker, but not custom to order. I found the price for a meal at The NY Slice to be quite reasonable. The pizza slice was very generous, and the bread-knots(I think the menu officially says breadsticks, but I’m a pretty big fan of the puffy little knots of bread I got) were really tasty. In fact, I probably ate way more than I should have. It could easily be shared/combined with another slice and be plenty for two. It fits right in the market price range too. Commendations & Recommendations: 1. I would love to see one of the rotating specialty pizzas be a Chicago deep-dish. I know you’re a New York pizza company, and you do that well, but man, it would be great to be able to compare the two side by side in one awesome food truck. 2. Great job on the delivery concept! I haven’t tried it yet, but I’d be interested to hear from others on how deliveries have gone. My main concern, and I think I know the answer, does my order affect the supply for others? I wouldn’t want to order a whole pizza to have leftovers but be the reason others don’t get to enjoy the tasty goodness. 3. Garbage can nearby the truck, for those of us who hang around while we eat.

Tracked these guys down on the circle the other day because twitter told me they started taking credit cards, which is great for a food truck on the move. I paid $ 6.25 for a slice of cheese, a side salad and a can of soda. The slice was fairly small, compared to others I’ve had before, it was still greasy and cheesy like one would expect of a slice from Manhattan. The salad was decently sized, and the service was good. My only complaint is the size of the slice, hence the 4 stars. a little bigger, and it would have gotten 5. Also, they earn cool points in my book for using Square to process their credit cards.

Fix up, look sharp. There’s a new pizza truck on the street. They were sold out yesterday on the circle by 12:30, so they must be doing something right. Personally, I though the crust/dough was crisp and tasty, but it was not what I thought I’d get when it says NY style pizza. Very light cheese and sauce, but a tasty concoction none the less. I read on their truck that you can follow them at TheNySlice on FB and twitter.
