U-Haul of Eagledale

Decent product, less than decent customer service.
I was planning to move from a 2 bedroom bedroom near Mass Ave over to a 1 bedroom apartment near the canal downtown. More than a month before the move was scheduled to take place, I made a reservation for the U-​Haul at the N Illinois location. The day before we were scheduled to pick up the truck, they let us know that the truck we were scheduled to use had been damaged and that we would have to get a smaller truck or go to a different location. We ended up calling the Lafayette Rd location and getting a truck of the same size from there. However, U-​Haul did very little to compensate for this inconvenient change. We were going to be driving an additional several miles in order to pick it up (and return it), which we had to pay for. The truck was extremely run down and quite old. They said that they applied the $ 50 insurance to our plan to compensate for the change, which we didn’t request in the first place and proved useless to us. I would have much rather had them take $ 50 off of the end bill. I give them 2 stars because they got the job done, but I felt the customer service we experienced in this situation could have been much better, especially when we had nothing to do with the problem. It also ended up being pretty pricey.

Darius and Michael went WAY above and beyond in the pouring rain to fix our hitch issue. The poor workmanship was done by another facility and these guys took care of it for us. This was after we had tried calling and leaving NUMEROUS messages over 6 days to get someone at the N. Michigan Rd location to call us back. No wonder this location was packed with people when we arrived. Service like this should never go without recognition!

They had the truck I reserved. It didn’t break down. They were fair on pricing. They have a ton of moving supplies and truck crap for sale inside. If you are in need of a bass fish hitch cover, this is your place. The parking lot is pretty small and can be tough to navigate when the place is crowded.
