Delicious food and biiiiiiig portions. I ordered the jerk chicken dinner(my stomach is growling as I reminisce right now omg) and it was so full of flavor. It was enough for two people, but it was so good I didn’t want to share… So I didn’t.

DONOTBEFOOLEDBYTHEREVIEWS coz I honestly feel it’s all a set up. Personally I wish I could give no star at all, but because I can’t so I’m just going to go ahead and say it is the worst spot I have ever have ever been to, not because it’s not even a restaurant, it’s tight and dirty, but because the customer service was the worst I have ever received in my entire life. He was sooooooo rude and primitive!!! I walked into a spot very pleasantly, and the young man with beards and locks… don’t know what he was already mad about but you don’t just decide to ruin another person’s meal n day for no reason at all. I cancelled my order and left. Never returning and will definitely not recommend. Even tho I feel bad for the owner because I am a business owner too and its hard work but he should check his employees! If not he might not stay in business long enough

My family decided to give this café a second chance after previously receiving a oxtail dinner with nothing but bones. My grandson recently ordered a dinner and was missing part of his order. The cashier rudely told him that they were out of the order and refused to give him his change. I have gone to many Jamaican restaurants and visited Jamaica. Hungry Joe’s is a disgrace to the culture. Luckily I live in a neighborhood heavily populated by Jamaicans so this dump is not my only option.

A great little Caribbean spot in Inglewood. I have had the oxtails(which are a hit or miss) and the curry chicken. Peas and rice, steamed veggies and plantains(they are stingy with these… what am I supposed to do with 2…). The parking is real tight, but you can make it work. Only 4 spots to sit inside, so don’t make plans to «dine-in.» I love the fact that they carry kola champagne, which is a necessity when dining on Caribbean food! Worthy of trying out!

Came in earlier today and got the brown stew chicken plate. Not bad. *Place is small and I mean smaller than small(so if you’re trying to imagine… yeah, it’s smaller than that).

Belly blessings abound at this island eats paradise in the middle of the concrete jungle otherwise known as Inglewood. Amazing soups prepared fresh daily. The Red Pea soup is Life! The beef patties are flaky and flavorful. Oxtails are all the way off the chain! My current addiction is the brown stew chicken with rice and peas. I could write descriptive sentence after descriptive sentence of each dish but basically you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Wash it all down with a pine ginger that is pure liquid gold in a cup. You may be hungry when you walk in Hungry Joes but you won’t be after you treat yourself to their deliciousness. Big UP Hungry Joe’s! Endless Thanks and Praise from me Belly!

I don’t mean to sound like a parrot in my reviews, but here’s the lowdown: Hubby’s an Exec Chef, I’m a professional cook. We are picky. I’ve lived all over the US, he’s lived all over the world. To date, we have not had ANY even remotely good Jamaican food in the US. Hungry Joe’s is excellent and authentic. Funnier still, I am a vegetarian, and they make one of the top 3 veggie burgers I’ve ever had. So simple, that’s all it needs to be. This is comfort food, made with love. Great drinks there too. Kudos to the staff at this cute little walk up(one or two tables).

I was told that this place has the best fried chicken. They missed the mark. I did like the curry chicken though. It wasn’t the best Jamaican food in town and I probably won’t be back because of the other places nearby, but don’t knock it until you try it for yourself.

This place is a little hole in wall secret but the food was great. Jamaican food at its best, don’t be fooled by the name. Please don’t be a smart Alec and order a burger, you are wasting your’s and the cook’s time. Soup and juices were delicious also there is a mini mart beside the restaurant. Not too expensive also.

This is a tiny hole in the wall, spot smack in the middle of a nondescript little shopping area on La Brea –so the delectable food is a pleasant contrast to the exterior. Hungry Joes is one of those finds that you almost don’t want to tell more people about, cause it really is possible for them to sell out of some dishes due to popular demand, but it’s too good not to share with others. It is clear why this is noted one of the best places to eat in LA for Jamaican food. Most of the dishes we had were great, especially the curry goat and the oxtail. There is also a side of vegetables to go with the meat and ricenpeas. The jerk chicken patties were good. The jerk chicken was on the dry side, definitely wasn’t up to the quality of the other dishes on the days I visited. Hopefully that was just a fluke. Hungry Joe gives you good food at a fair price. The Jamaican food is so good that we haven’t tried the burgers yet, but I’ll bet they are great.

Respect to da place that brought real Jamaican food to LA! Went here and got acki and salt fish which had veggies and was seasoned so well. I liked the side of rice w red kidney beans and was not too salty which is just like it’s made in Jamaica. I additionally enjoyed the goat curry. Needless to say, if you’re feelin like you need some island love come here to the mini jamaica and enjoy their delicious food! Also say Effton sent you to make sure Carlton made you the best food in town!

This was some of the best Caribbean food I’ve had in a while. I got the ox-tail mini plate which was far from mini. The rice and beans with extra gravy was amazing

Finally! ! ! I have been looking for a Jamaican spot in LA for the longest. Don’t be fooled by the name. Normally I say don’t order food from a spot that don’t have the name of the food in their name but this is an exception to the rule. Yesterday I ordered the large Curry Chicken and the small Jerk Chicken. Everything was poppin with flavor. Finally a Caribbean spot were the rice and beans are NOT dry. If you are in the Inglewood area and have a taste for Jamaican food. This is your spot.

We ordered from hungry joe s yesterday. My colleagues had food from hungry joe before and claimed they have awesome Jamaican food and they were right! I had the combo short rib and oxtail with veggies only and no rice and served with plantains. Wow! The meat were so tender that melts in your mouth. My fish was so yummy. Only drawback was just tidbit salty, nevertheless it was tasty.

Love the food! I live all the way in the South Bay and I’ll drive all the way to Inglewood to have dinner. The establishment is small but it gives you a since of authenticity. The vibe, and the music that’s being play while you wait. For that 5 or 10 minutes that your waiting your mind can drift into the Caribbean. With the sweet sound and great smelling food. It isn’t hard to become a dreamer. It’s all peace and love when you have dinner at Hungry Joe’s!

YUK!!! Somebody alert the Health department so they can shut this hell hole down! My baby ordered oxtails and got more hair than I’ve ever seen on a plate of food. Felt sorry for him yet was glad it didn’t happen to me. He threw it out, i woulda cussed them all the way out! Count this one star as a negative one!

This lil’ hole-in-the-wall needs some love so I’m giving it to them! Any place that serves Caribbean food in LA is a must-try in my book but I hadn’t heard of Hungry Joe’s before. I came about it one morning when my friend and I were driving up Crenshaw and our hungry asses saw the array of Caribbean flags waving outside. HOLLA! It’s a little cramped inside, but we were the only ones there. They had yummy patties on display and a tasty looking menu on the wall. I haven’t had ackee and saltfish in years and they whipped it right on up for me. And this plate of food was GOOD! My friend got the jerk chicken and she said it was very flavorful and well seasoned. For a full plate meal with sides, I think it was about $ 10-$ 15 each. After we left, I called my aunt who doesn’t live too far away to tell her about my new«find». I started to explain, «Yeah iz dis place right aroun da corna from di Treehouse and di food is…» She interrupts me… «Oh, yuh mean Joe’s?» Clearly, I guess I was the only one not in the know! Burgers or Caribbean food, breakfast or lunch — come here!
